6. Preparing for use

WARNING First pull out the plug, only then carry out any operation

Installation

After removing the heater from the packaging, check that the individual components of the device are not damaged. Do not start the device if it is damaged. Assemble as described below

DED9951A, DED9954A: Screw the brackets (Fig. E, 1) to the heater tank (Fig. E, 2). Insert the axle (Fig. E, 3) through the holes in the front brackets, fit the wheels (Fig. E, 4) and washers (Fig. E, 5), and secure with cotter pins (Fig. E, 6). Fit the covers (Fig. E, 7) onto the wheels. Attach the handle (Fig. E, 8) to the rear brackets.

DED9953A, DED9964AT: Mount the lower frame (Fig. E, 9) and upper frame (Fig. E, 10) to the heater tank using screws (Fig. E, 11) and nuts (Fig. E, 12). Insert the axle through the holes in the lower frame (Fig. E, 13), place the wheels on the axle (Fig. E, 14), washers (Fig. E, 15), and secure with cotter pins (Fig. E, 16). Place the covers on the wheels (Fig. E, 17).

Filling the fuel tank

Only diesel fuel should be used. Under no circumstances should volatile fuels such as petrol or solvents be used. Contaminated fuel or used engine oil must also not be used. If fuel comes into contact with the skin, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water and rinse with water.

-Before filling the fuel tank, check that the device is disconnected from the power supply.

-While filling, observe the fuel tank for any leaks. If a fuel leak is detected, do not use the device. Have it repaired by a specialist service centre.

-The fuel inlet is located at the rear of the heater (Fig. D, 1). When filling the tank, carefully observe the fuel level indicator (Fig. D, 2).

-Do not store more fuel inside the building than a single supply.

- Fuel tanks must not be located less than 8 m from the heater, with the exception of an integral tank that is part of the heater.

-The fuel storage area must be maintained in accordance with applicable fire safety and occupational safety regulations. Any spilled fuel must be wiped up with a dry cloth or a dedicated cleaning cloth.

Before starting, check for any fuel leaks. If fuel leaks are detected, e.g. due to a leak in the tank or fuel lines, the heater must not be used. In this case, contact the service department.

7. Connection to the mains

Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, ensure that the supply voltage corresponds to the value indicated on the rating plate. The power supply installation should comply with the essential requirements for electrical installations and meet the safety requirements for use. The parameters for the minimum cross-section of the supply cable and the nominal value of the fuse, depending on the power of the appliance, are given in the table below:

Unit power [W]Minimum conductor cross-section [mm2]Minimum fuse type C [A]
<7000,756

The installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. When using extension cables, ensure that the conductor cross-section is not smaller than required (see table). Arrange the electrical cable so that it is not at risk of being cut during operation. Do not use damaged extension cords. Periodically check the condition of the power supply cable. Do not pull on the power cable.

8. Switching on the device

WARNING

Before starting up the unit, it is essential to carry out the steps described in the section 'Preparing

for operation'.

Place the heater on a flat surface so that the hot air stream is not directed at flammable materials, people or animals. Leave a free space between the heater and objects in the workplace, at least 3 m from the front of the hot air outlet, at least 2 m from the air inlet, and at least 2 m from the ceiling of the room (Fig. A). Particular attention should be paid to curtains, drapes or other materials that may ignite under the influence of hot air.

Turning on the heater

Set the power switch (Fig. B/C, 3) to the 'I' position. Set the desired temperature using the knob (Fig. B/C, 1). If the temperature set on the knob is higher than the temperature shown on the current temperature display (Fig. B/C, 2), the heater will switch on automatically.

9. Operation of the device

WARNING

When operating the device, all safety rules and instructions described in the safety conditions

must be strictly observed..

Ensure free air flow for proper operation of the device. The device is equipped with a safety system that will shut down the device in the following cases:

No flame in the combustion chamber or flame extinction; the heater has an optoelectronic element that monitors the flame in the combustion chamber.

To restart it, check that the fuel level in the tank is not too low, refill the fuel if necessary, and switch the switch off and on again (Fig. B/C, 3).

Power failure: in this case, the heater will switch off and go into emergency mode. To switch it back on, switch the switch off and then on again (Fig. B/C, 3). For this reason, it is not possible to control the operation of the heater using timers that switch the power off and on again.

Overheating of the device: if the temperature inside the heater rises, e.g. due to an obstruction in the air inlet, the safety device switches off the heater. To switch it back on, wait until the heater has cooled down, switch it off and then on again (Fig. B/C, 3).

Thermostat activation: when the ambient temperature rises above the set temperature, the heater switches off and goes into standby mode. When the ambient temperature falls below the set temperature, the heater switches on again automatically.

Switching off the heater

To switch off the heater, set the power switch to the '0' position (Fig. B/C, 3). Then disconnect the power cord from the mains socket. After switching off the appliance, check that the flame inside has completely extinguished before leaving it unattended.

10. Ongoing maintenance

WARNING

All maintenance must be carried out with the unit unplugged.

Repairs should only be carried out by qualified specialists at locations specified by the manufacturer.

At least once a year, it is recommended to have a technical inspection carried out by an authorised service centre, preferably before each heating season.

Cleaning the device.

The device should be cleaned regularly. In particular, clean any dirt that accumulates during refuelling, as dust and dirt easily adhere to the fuel tank. Use a soft cloth for cleaning. Dry dirt can be removed with a vacuum cleaner. Do not use aggressive detergents, chemical cleaning agents, solvents or other agents that could damage the surface of the device.

Emptying and cleaning the fuel tank.

During use, dirt and moisture accumulate in the tank, causing water to condense inside the fuel tank. If it is necessary to empty and clean the fuel tank, place the heater on a slight elevation with its wheels raised. Place a container for the drained fuel under the heater. Unscrew the fuel drain plug located at the bottom of the fuel tank (Fig. G, 1). After draining the fuel and cleaning, screw the drain plug back in.

After emptying the tank, flush the tank with a small amount of fresh fuel. This should be done every 150-200 hours of operation or if the operating parameters get worse.

Air filter.

The pre-air filter (sponge) should be cleaned every 50 hours of operation or if it looks dirty/clogged. To clean the filter, remove the rear cover (Fig. F, 1) and remove the sponge filter (Fig. F, 3), rinse it in warm water, dry it thoroughly and reinstall it. To do this, do not unscrew the plastic compressor cover (Fig. F, 2). Replace the filter on the high-pressure side every 100 operating hours. Unscrew the motor cover (Fig. F, 2), remove the filter (Fig. F, 4) and replace it with a new one. Reassemble in reverse order.

Storage, transport, shipping

The heater should be stored in a dry, dust-free place, protected from moisture at a temperature of (5-20)^ , away from living areas and out of the reach of children. The fuel tank must be emptied of fuel and cleaned of any contaminants during storage. The room should be free of dust and vapours that could cause corrosion of metal parts. Do not store the device in rooms where food products are stored.

The heater is equipped with wheels for easy movement within heated rooms. If it is necessary to ship the heater by a shipping company, e.g. to a service centre for repair, the fuel tank must be emptied! In accordance with applicable regulations, the transport of liquid fuels without special safety conditions specified in separate regulations is prohibited.
