ATTENTION!

  1. The person operating the appliance is responsible for safety of persons around.
  2. Children and pets should only be around in safe distance from the running appliance (at least 10 meters).
  3. Always wear safety, non-slip boots, firm gloves, protective glasses and long trousers when working with the appliance.
  4. If the appliance is used in a dusty environment, put a breathing mask on.
  5. Never aim the running appliance at face, other persons or animals.
  6. Make sure your hands, legs, hair or parts of clothing did not get near the holes and movable parts.
  7. Do not wear wide clothing or jewels that could be sucked in to the air intake hole.
  8. Make always sure the leaf blower is correctly assembled before starting.
  9. Never use the leaf blower in wet conditions or when raining.
  10. Keep the grips and handles clean and dry.
  11. Make sure all external nuts, screws and cogs were tightened before appliance starting.
  12. Never let the leaf vacuum running when on side. It has been manufactured for operation in an upright position only.

  13. Do not blow away any combustible materials, e.g. cigarette stubs or grill coal with the appliance.

  14. Do not blow away any combustible, poisonous or explosive materials with the appliance.
  15. Do not cross gravel paths or roads with the running appliance.
  16. Always wear protective glasses and protective clothes at work with the vacuum.
  17. Attention: Stones or other foreign matters can be speeded up by the current operation and thus cause injuries to persons or material damage.

Emergency Action

Apply the first aid adequate to the injury and get qualified medical assistance as quickly as possible. Protect the injured person from more accidents and calm him/her down.

For the sake of eventual accident, in accordance with DIN 13164, a workplace has to be fitted with a first-aid kit. It is essential to replace any used material in the first-aid kit immediately after it has been used. If you seek help, state the following pieces of information:

  1. Accident site
  2. Accident type
  3. Number of injured persons
  4. Injury type(s)

Disposal

Disposal instructions are illustrated in the form of pictograms on the device or packaging. Description of the pictograms is given in "Identification" chapter.

Disposal of transport packaging

Packaging protects the device against damage during transport. Packaging materials are usually selected according to their effect on environment and disposal methods and can therefore be recycled. Returning of the packaging back to circulation saves resources and costs for packaging disposal. Parts of the packaging (e.g. foil, styropor) may be dangerous for children. Risk of suffocation! Keep these parts of the packaging out of reach of children and dispose as soon as possible.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Never work in non-ventilated rooms due to the risk of damage to health as a result of inhalation of burnt gases. Burnt gases contain harmful carbon monoxide.
  2. Use the leaf vacuum only when you have corresponding stability and balance.
  3. Never use the appliance at strong wind, bad weather, reduced visibility or extreme temperatures. (recommended environment temperature is below 40°C)

PREVENT TROUBLING WITH NOISE

It is necessary to observe local provisions as far as the noisiness level and leaf vacuum operation time are concerned.

  1. Do not operate the appliance in the day-time when you would unacceptably disturb your neighbours (e.g. early in the morning or late in the evening). Keep to the times specified in local notices.
  2. To keep the machine noisiness at as low level as possible, limit the number of machines used at the same time.
  3. Do not turn up the gas than necessary for the specific work.
  4. Check especially the noise suppressor, air inlet and air filter before appliance use.

FUEL

Do the following to reduce the fire and burning risk:

a) Proceed carefully at fuel handling. It can ignite easily.
b) Do not smoke at fire handling.
c) Do not refuel if the engine is warm.
d) Do not refuel if the appliance is on.
e) Prevent fuel or oil spilling. Always wipe and dry the appliance before use.

f) Start the engine at least 3 m before the place of fuelling.
g) Always store the petrol in a container approved for flammable liquids.
h) Make sure the appliance is assembled properly and in a faultless working state.
i) Do not use the leaf vacuum near flames or sparks as flammable substance can ignite by aiming the appliance at an inflammable source.

j) Remove the leaf bag at each refuelling and protect it against pollution with leaking fuel!

Spilt fuel on the leaf bag represents a potential source of danger!

BEFORE EACH ENGINE STARTING

- Check the entire appliance and ensure all parts are not damaged and are properly fixed before each engine starting. In case of any damage of the fuel pipe, exhaust pipe or spark plug cable the vacuum can only be used after the damage is removed.

APPLIANCE USE AS DESIGNED

What are the leaf blowers?

The leaf blowers make the tiresome leaf sweeping in the autumn easier and thus also make the garden work much easier. Their area of use is extended over the course of the year to air blast sweeping: free impurities and rubbish, cans and litter can be quickly and easily collected on a heap. The leaf blowers thus become machines with a year-long utilisation.

Tips for leaf blower use

You should collect the leaves as quickly as possible: Wet leaves and doting leaves or leaves on big heaps always represent a problem. Collecting big leaves, such as plane, walnut or chestnut is very difficult.

Therefore we recommend removing leaves immediately after falling and in dry weather. The blower blows the leaves on a heap from which you can collect them more easily or let them rot. And where should you start collecting leaves? Wet leaves definitely represent a risk of slipping on busy roads, steep surfaces or staircases. They need to be removed for safety reasons.

However, on most of vegetation surfaces leaves fulfil important functions of a constant growth and end cycle. On surfaces with intensive care you should remove the leaves and on extensive grass surfaces you can partially let them lie. And perhaps you may find a small place for a heap of leaves in your garden that will in winter provide a warm shelter to many small animals, for instance a hedgehog.

MAINTENANCE

Always switch the engine off and disconnect the sparking-plug before each maintenance or check. If the appliance makes strange noises or vibrations while being used, immediately switch the engine off and contact service specialists of Güde for help. The blowing equipment check is very important. Any damage of the rotary ventilator leads to serious injuries.

TRANSPORT

  • Discharge fuel from the tank before appliance transport or storing.
  • Secure the appliance in a manner that it could not be damaged or cause any damage during transport.
  • Do not expose the leaf blower to heavy force, e.g. do not throw it or let it fall down. Your guarantee claims would expiry by doing so.
  • Store the leaf blower in internal spaces, at a dry place inaccessible to children.
Pic. 5 shows handling strap adjustment.
The collecting leaf bag can be inserted on the appliance by pressing on the tube socket (pic. 6 free arrows).
Secure the collecting bag with two screws - pic. 6, pos. 27

Storing

Assembly and first putting into operation

- First you must assemble the suction and blowing tube. To do so, put individual tube pieces together (pic. 2 pos.19.) Screw it together with two screws supplied (pic. 2, pos. 17 and 18). Insert the assembled tube on the appliance and secure it with screws, pic. 3 pos. 21 / 21 / 22 and pic. 4 pos. 23 / 24 / 25.

HANDLING

Engine starting:

Check firm bedding and any damage at all parts. Put on the appliance before starting and adjust the handling straps to suit your body.

Refuelling: disassemble the tank cover (11) and refuel (unleaded petrol of min. 90 octanes and suitable oil for two-stroke engines in the rate of 1:40). Make sure the fuel did not stain your skin! Always use clean, non-polluted fuel! Close the tank cover properly after each refuelling or each fuel level check.

  1. Take the appliance to the surface being cleaned and put it even on the ground.
  2. Press the fuse pump (15) three-four times until fuel runs through the fuel pipe.
  3. At cold starting (appliance not been in operation for a long time), switch the choke lever (pic. 8 pos. 35) to the starting position (pic. 7 pos. 4 in the "I" position).
  4. Shift the lever, pic. 7 pos. 30, in the full throttle direction (hand throttle on the right in the switch direction)
  5. Ensure stability and pin-point the appliance with your left hand on the housing.
  6. Now strongly - and with safe distance from the appliance - pull the reverse starter starting cable and let it slowly slide down again. The engine should start after a maximum of 5 pulls.
  7. Now you can slowly return the choke lever to the normal position. (pic. 8 pos. 37)
  8. Using the hand throttle, check the free-running revolutions per minute (hand throttle left), the leaf blower is now ready for operation.
  9. Carefully put the appliance on and fix the strap to your body. The appliance should be firmly fixed to your body to ensure optimum and safe working.
  10. Start working while observing the safety provisions.
