Frequently Asked Questions - EP20 Fuxtec

Can I use the EP20 battery with other tool brands?
No, use the EP20 battery only with Fuxtec tools compatible in voltage (40 V). Use with other brands may damage the tool or battery and void the warranty.
How to properly charge the EP20 battery?
Use only a charger recommended by Fuxtec. The charging temperature must be between 0 °C and 40 °C. Never cover the battery or charger while charging. Unplug the charger after full charge.
What is the lifespan of the EP20 battery?
The lifespan depends on use and maintenance. On average, a lithium-ion battery retains about 80% of its capacity after 500 charge cycles. Replace the battery if runtime decreases significantly.
What to do if the battery no longer charges?
First check the charger and connections. If the charge light does not come on, the battery may be defective. If the charge status button does not light up any LED, the battery must be replaced. Contact customer service.
How to store the EP20 battery long-term?
Partially discharge the battery (about 50%) and store it in a cool (10 °C to 25 °C) and dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity. Recharge it every few months to prevent deep discharge.
Can I transport the EP20 battery by plane?
The EP20 battery contains a small amount of lithium (below regulatory thresholds) and is not classified as dangerous goods for individual transport. However, for transport of multiple batteries, check applicable regulations.
How to check the battery charge level?
Press the display button on the battery. The LEDs indicate the charge level: the more LEDs are lit, the higher the charge. If an LED blinks, recharge the battery. If no LED lights up, the battery is defective.
What does the blinking of the battery LEDs mean?
A blinking LED indicates that the battery needs to be recharged. If all LEDs blink or behavior is abnormal, this may indicate a fault. Consult the manual or contact customer service.
Is the EP20 battery waterproof?
No, the battery is not waterproof. Protect it from rain, moisture, and immersion. Moisture can damage the battery and cause a short circuit.
How to recycle the EP20 battery at end of life?
Do not throw the battery in household waste. Deposit it at a collection point for used batteries or return it to your retailer. In accordance with Directive 2006/66/EC, batteries must be recycled.

WARNING!

Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injuries. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.

■ Do not open the battery.
There is a risk of a short-circuit.
■ Protect the battery from heat, e.g. from continuous exposure to sunlight, fire, water and humidity.
There is a risk of explosion.
In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system.

■ Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

■ Use only original batteries with the voltage indicated on the rating plate of your electric power tool. If other batteries are used, e.g. imitations, reconditioned batteries or third-party products, there is a risk of injuries as well as damage caused by exploding batteries.

■ The battery voltage must match the battery charging voltage of the battery charger. Otherwise there is a risk of fire and explosion.

■ Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.

■ Pointed objects, such as nails or screw-drivers, or external forces may damage the battery. This may cause an internal short-circuit and the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat.

Information to ensure a long battery service life

CAUTION!

Never charge batteries at temperatures below 0 °C or above 40 °C.
- Do not charge batteries in an environment which has high air humidity or at a high ambient temperature.
- Do not cover batteries and/or the battery charger during the charging process.
Battery and charger heat up during the charging process. This is perfectly normal! Lithium ion batteries do not exhibit the well known "memory effect". Nevertheless, before a battery is recharged, it should be fully discharged and the charging process always run to the end.

i NOTE

  • Follow the instructions for charging the battery in the operating instructions for the electric power tool and the battery charger.
  • Reduced operating times after recharging indicates that the battery is worn out. The battery must be replaced.

If the batteries are not used for a prolonged period, store batteries partially charged and in a cool location (10–25 °C).

Transport

The equivalent lithium content of the batteries included in the product package is below the appropriate limit values.

Therefore the battery as an individual component as well as the power tool and its product package are not subject to national or international dangerous goods regulations.

If several machines with lithium ion batteries are transported, these regulations may become relevant and special safety measures may be required (e.g. for the packaging).

In this case find out about the currently valid regulations for the country of use.

CAUTION!

Do not post batteries which have a damaged casing.
