USER MANUAL WT 290 TECHNOLINE
Display overview: Front view:Page 2 Top view: Description: 1 – AM/PM icons (only in 12 hour mode) 10 – Time of alarm 2 with icon 2 – Time 11 – SET button 3 – Signal reception icon (radio antenna) 12 – °C/°F / UP button 4 – Weekday icons 13 – 12/24 / DOWN button 5 – Date and Month 14 – ALARM 1 button 6 – Indoor temperature 15 – ALARM 2 button 7 – Low battery indicator 16 –SNOOZE / LIGHT button 8 – Time zone icon 17 – Battery compartment (with cover on) 9 – Time of alarm 1 with icon INITIAL OPERATION
1. Open the battery cover at the back of your clock.
2. Insert 3 x new AAA batteries into the battery compartment by observing the correct “+” and
3. Slide on to replace the battery cover. The clock will show all display components and a signal
4. After few seconds, the clock will automatically start reception of DCF77 time signal.
DCF77 SIGNAL RECEPTION AND SIGNAL INDICATOR
After your clock is powered up, it starts to receive DCF signal. The icon flashes. Receiving DCF signal ( icon flashing) Successful Reception ( icon becomes static) Failed Reception ( icon disappear) AUTOMATIC RECEPTION Your clock starts automatic reception everyday at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00. If it fails to receive the DCF time signal at 3:00, it will start reception at 4:00. If it fails again, it will start reception at 5:00. If it fails again, it will start automatic reception at 1:00 again in the next day. MANUAL RECEPTION While viewing normal time display, press and hold the 12/24 / DOWN button to start DCF77 reception and the radio antenna icon is flashing. Press and hold the 12/24 / DOWN button again to stop DCF77 reception and the radio antenna icon is no longer displayed.
12 / 24 HOUR TIME DISPLAY
While viewing normal time display, press the 12/24 / DOWN button to swtch between 12 hour and 24Page 4 hour time display. In 12 hour time display the AM icon will be displayed in the time before noon and the PM icon will be displayed in the time after noon. TIME SETTING x While viewing normal time display, hold the SET button to enter the time setting and the hour digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the hour. x Press the SET button to confirm and the minute digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the minute. x Press the SET button to confirm and the year digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the year. x Press the SET button to confirm and the month digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the month. x Press the SET button to confirm and the date digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the date. x Press the SET button to confirm and the time zone digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the time zone value between -12 and +12 hours. For example, +0 is used for Germany and -1 is used for the UK x Press the SET button to confirm and exit the time setting. Notes: x Time zone icon (ZONE) is shown on the display once a time zone is set (beside 0) x Press and hold the the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to speed up setting process. x The setting will automatically return to time display mode, if no button is used for 30 secondsPage 5 ALARM SETTINGS x Press the ALARM 1 button to turn on/off alarm 1. The alarm 1 icon is displayed when alarm 1 is active and is not displayed while alarm 1 is not active. x Hold the ALARM 1 button to enter into alarm 1 setting and the hour digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the hour of alarm 1. x Press the ALARM 1 button to confirm and the minute digits flash. Press the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to set the minute of alarm 1. x Press the ALARM 1 button to confirm and exit the alarm setting. x Use the ALARM 2 button instead of ALARM 1 button in the above setting to set alarm 2. Notes: x Press and hold the the °C/°F / UP or the 12/24 / DOWN button to speed up setting process. x The setting will automatically return to time display mode, if no button is used for 30 seconds. x Press any button except the SNOOZE button during the active alarm sound to stop the alarm and the alarm will sound again on the next day at the same time. x Alarm sound duration is 2 minutes and the alarm sound speed is increased during the duration SNOOZE FUNCTION When alarm sound is active, press SNOOZE/LIGHT to enter into snooze mode and the Zz icon and the alarm icon will flash. The alarm will sound again after 5 minutes. Press any button except the SNOOZE button during the active alarm sound to stop the alarm and the alarm will sound again on the next day at the same time.Page 6 BACKLIGHT Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to turn on backlight for 5 seconds.
TEMPERATURE IN °C OR °F
Under normal display mode, press °C/°F / UP button to set °C or °F as temperature unit. Note: the temperature range displayed is from 0°C to +50°C
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR
The low battery indicator icon is displayed once the batteries are low on energy. Change in a new set of batteries soon. TROUBLE SHOOTING If your clock displays irrelevant time or does not function properly, which maybe caused by electro-static discharge or other interference, slide open the battery cover, take out the batteries and reinstall them by observing the correct +/- polarity. Your unit will be reset to default settings and you need to set it again.
ENVIRONMENTAL RECEPTION EFFECTS
The clock obtains the accurate time with wireless technology. Same as all wireless devices, the reception is maybe affected by the following circumstances: x long transmitting distance x nearby mountains and valleysPage 7 x near freeway, railway, airports, high voltage cable etc. x near construction site x among tall buildings x inside concrete buildings x near electrical appliances (computers, TV’s, etc) and metallic structures x inside moving vehicles Place the clock at a location with optimal signal, i.e. close to a window and away from metal surfaces or electrical appliances. PRECAUTIONS x This clock is intended to be used only indoors. x Do not subject the unit to excessive force or shock. x Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, dust or humidity. x Do not immerse in water. x Avoid contact with any corrosive materials. x Do not dispose this unit in a fire as it may explode. x Do not open the inner back case or tamper with any components of this unit.
BATTERY SAFETY WARNINGS
x Use only alkaline batteries, not rechargeable batteries. x Install batteries correctly by matching the polarities (+/-). x Always replace a complete set of batteries. x Never mix used and new batteries. x Remove exhausted batteries immediately. x Remove batteries when not in use.Page 8 x Do not recharge and do not dispose of batteries in fire as the batteries may explode. x Ensure batteries are stored away from metal objects as contact may cause a short circuit. x Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperature or humidity or direct sunlight. x Keep all batteries out of reach from children. They are a choking hazard. Use the product only for its intended purpose! Consideration of duty according to the battery law Old batteries do not belong to domestic waste because they could cause damages of health and environment. You can return used batteries free of charge to your dealer and collection points. As end-user you are committed by law to bring back needed batteries to distributors and other collecting points! Consideration of duty according to the law of electrical devices This symbol means that you must dispose of electrical devices separated from the General household waste when it reaches the end of its useful life.
