Frequently Asked Questions - Floh am Po Zoch

How do you start a game?
Create a course with tiles between the Start board and the Finish board. Each player chooses a dog and attaches a random flea to its fur. The player who jumps highest starts.
What if my dog already has fleas of the color rolled on the dice?
You must jump each flea of that color onto the back of another dog of your choice.
What happens if I roll two identical dice?
Two identical dice have no special effect. You cannot take or move a flea of that color.
How does my dog advance on the course?
After resolving flea actions, count the total number of fleas on your dog and advance it by that many tiles.
What is the advanced rule?
In the advanced rule, the number of dice to roll depends on your dog's position among occupied tiles. If you are on the 1st occupied tile, roll 1 die; on the 2nd, 2 dice; etc.
What to do if a player reaches or passes the finish?
The player whose dog reaches or passes the Finish board immediately wins the game.
Can you play with 2 or 3 players?
Yes, unused dogs are simply put back in the box. The game is played the same way.
What age is this game recommended for?
The game is recommended from 4 years. The advanced rule is suitable for older or experienced players.
How to maintain the game?
Wipe the pieces with a dry cloth. Store all items in the box to avoid loss.
Can I order spare parts?
Yes, spare parts (tiles, dice, fleas, dogs) are available on request from Zoch Verlag.

Floham Po by Peter Wichmann

Floham Po is great fun for children of four years and up. But older and more experienced players will also find it challenging, thanks to the additional rules described in the Advanced section at the end of this rulebook.

HIP HIP HURRAH! OVERVIEW

"Hurrah! The dog bus is here!" shout the excited fleas as they begin their Italian holiday. When Fido, Rover, Lucy and Duke are itchy, there's no holding them back. The more the fleas leap, the faster those dogs run, because every dog wants his passengers to be the first to reach their destination.

First we need a travel route on which your dogs can really move. Put the start and destination tiles on the table and use the road tiles to create a route between them.

C --> D["You can make this route longer or shorter by using all of the road tiles or fewer."]
D --> E["You'll just need two dice. The other two dice are for the advanced game."]

Each player takes the dog he or she likes best. Place you dog on the start tile. You start with one passenger already - choose a fl ea and put it in your dog's fur. The remaining fl eas wait in the middle of the table to begin their journey.

If you are fewer than four players, put the remaining dogs back in the box.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS! DICE AND FLEAS

When it is your turn, throw both dice.

Check to see what colors you have rolled. Are there any fleas of those colors on your dog? Oops! Then they will jump off. Put each of those fl eas into another dog's fur (example 1).

Did you roll the color of any fleas that are either in the center of the table or on other dogs? Then put those fleas into your dog's fur (example 1 and example 2).

Doubles have no special meaning (example 2).

AND WE'RE OFF! MOVING THE DOGS

Count how many fleas are on your dog. Your dog now runs that many road tiles forward. Then the player to your left takes a turn.

FIRST! END OF THE GAME

The first player to land on or pass the destination tile wins immediately.

Use all the road tiles and all four dice.

On your turn, instead just throwing two dice, first check to see which road tiles contain at least one dog, and in which position your dog's road tile comes:

Is your dog in the first (farthest ahead) occupied road tile? Then throw one die.
Is your dog in the second occupied road tile? Then throw two dice.
Is you dog in the third occupied road tile? Then throw three dice.
Is your dog in the fourth (farthest back) occupied road tile? Then throw all four dice.

Don't count the dogs ahead of you when deciding how many dice to throw, instead count the number of occupied road tiles ahead of you. With a little practice you'll soon get the hang of it.
