How to install the battery in the NCT2 tester?

Open the battery compartment at the back of the tester. Insert a 9 V DC battery (not included) observing the indicated polarity. Close the cover. Do not use a 9 V rechargeable battery.

What types of cables can I test with the NCT2?

The NCT2 can test UTP, STP and USB cables (types A/A and A/B). It supports 100Base-TX, 1000Base-TX, Token Ring, EIA/TIA568A/568B standards, as well as modular RJ11/RJ12 cables.

What to do if the tester does not turn on?

Check that the 9 V battery is properly installed and sufficiently charged. If the problem persists, try a new battery. Make sure the POWER button is pressed. If the tester still does not turn on, contact after-sales service.

How to interpret the test results?

The tester displays results via LEDs. Correct wiring is indicated by green lights lit in order. A lit or red light may indicate an open cable, short circuit, or reversal. Refer to the manual for the correspondence table.

What do the RX and TX lights mean?

The RX (reception) and TX (transmission) lights indicate the signal status on the cable. During the test, they blink to check continuity. If one remains off, it may indicate a broken wire or incorrect connection.

Can I test live cables?

No, never use the tester on live circuits. This could damage the device and pose a risk of electric shock. Always disconnect cables from any power source before testing.

How to test a USB cable with the NCT2?

Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port on the main unit and the other end to the corresponding port on the remote terminator. Power on the device and press TEST. The LEDs will indicate continuity.

Does the tester indicate crossover cables?

Yes, the NCT2 detects pair reversals. If the LEDs do not light up in the expected order (e.g., wires 1 and 3 reversed), it indicates a crossover cable. Compare with the standard wiring diagram.
