Frequently Asked Questions - Voyager 2 Sicce

How to install the Voyager 2 pump in the aquarium?
Clean the glass, insert the pump into the fork of the magnetic support, attach the fixing handle, then fully submerge the pump in water. Place the external magnet on the glass 10 cm from the center of the internal magnet and slide it gently until magnetic alignment. Never put fingers between the magnets.
How to adjust the flow rate of the pump?
Turn the adjustment ring located in front of the pump (Fig. 5). If the holes are fully open, the flow is direct and powerful for hard corals. If partially closed, the flow becomes wider and gentler for soft corals or plants.
How to clean the Sicce Voyager 2 pump?
Unplug the pump and remove it from the aquarium. Remove the pre-chamber (Fig. 2 G/F) then take out the rotor (Fig. 2 E). Rinse everything with running water without using sharp objects. Use a small soft brush with soap or vinegar for deposits. Reassemble in reverse order.
What to do if the pump is noisy?
Increased noise may be due to limescale deposits or natural wear of the rotor. First clean the rotor and pre-chamber. If noise persists, replace the rotor. Noise does not affect operation but it is advisable to change the rotor.
Can I use the pump out of water?
No, the pump must operate only when submerged in water. Running dry would damage the motor. Make sure the water level does not drop below the pump to avoid air intake.
What is the warranty on the product?
The Voyager 2 pump is warranted for 3 years from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, excluding the rotor (wear part). Keep the receipt and warranty certificate filled out by the retailer.
How to safely attach the magnetic support?
Hold the pump submerged, place the external magnet on the glass about 10 cm from the center of the internal support, then slide it gently until you feel attraction. Warning: never directly approach the two magnets as the attraction is very strong and could break the glass or pinch fingers.
Is the power cable replaceable?
No, the pump is equipped with a type 'Z' electrical connection. The cable and plug cannot be replaced or repaired. If damaged, the entire pump must be replaced.
What is the maximum water temperature for the pump?
The pump can be used in liquids or environments with a temperature not exceeding 35 °C (95 °F). Do not use in hotter water.
What to do in case of water leak or wet plug?
If the power plug is wet, do not unplug the cord. First, cut the fuse or circuit breaker that powers the device, then unplug the pump after checking that there is no water in the socket. In case of abnormal water leakage, unplug the device immediately.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING - To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following:

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

DANGER: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself; return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.

1) CAUTION: If electrical components of the appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately.
2) If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
3) Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
4) Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
5) To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank or the fountain to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle

to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A “drip-loop” shown in Fig. A should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The “drip-loop” is the part of the cord below the level of the receptacle or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the receptacle. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DON'T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.

Sicce Voyager 2 - READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - 1

6) Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
7) To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs and the like.
8) Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
9) Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
10) Do not install or store the appliances where it will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
11) Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.
12) Read and observe all the important notices of the appliance.
13) If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
14) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted. Do no attempt to defeat this safety feature.

CAUTION: Pump is to be connected to a circuit that is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, use only on portable self-contained fountains no larger than 5 feet in any dimension.

9) The pump cannot be used by people with handicaps or by children if they are not supervised by a person responsible for their safety.
10) Avoid closeness with blades, sharp objects or other magnets to prevent accidental injuries as the magnets of the support attract metal objects and other magnets with high force.
11) The magnets can provoke permanent damages to electronic devices and to other objects that are sensitive to magnetic field such as pacemakers, credit cards and keys: always keep them at least 30 cm (12 inches) distance.
12) The magnets could loose partially or completely their attracting power if exposed to temperature higher than 50^ / 122^ .
13) Always leave a drip-loop in the pump cable to prevent water running down the cable and reaching the power source (Pic. A).
14) Avoid taking the pump by the cord during the installation or maintenance.
15) Do not try to attach directly the two magnets holder because the magnetic attraction is very high. Hold them only on the external sides paying attention not to put your hands or fingers in between.

PUMP INSTALLATION: USE AND REGULATION

ATTENTION: before make the product functioning, verify that it is complete with all its parts. To install the pump, proceed as follows.

1) To avoid resonances and vibrations, do not put the pump in contact with the lateral surfaces nearby or at the bottom of the tank to avoid sand or small stones to be sucked by the pump.
2) To connect the magnetic support to the pump, insert the pump into the staple overlapping the holes (Pic. 3a). Insert the handle in the staple in the holes (Pic. 3b), screwing it in so to keep the pump in place.

3) Clean the glass and position the pump inside the tank, submerging it completely. Pay attention that the upper part of the pump is positioned in the right way otherwise, if the water level decrease, the pump could suck air and make noise.

4) Attach the external magnetic support to the tank at a 10 cm / 3.93 inches distance from the centre of the internal support. Drag it until perceiving of the opposite magnetic force and position the centres of the 2 supports on the same axis.

ATTENTION: Please follow carefully the above instruction because if the installation in made differently, you may cause glass breakage and finger pi as the attraction power of the magnets is very strong.

5) Turn the pump so that the flow is directed where desired (Pic. 4), then secure the lateral handle tightly, so to keep the product in position. Then regulate the flow according to your preferences turning the flow regulator in front of the pump (Pic.
5). If it is completely open, it makes a direct and strong flow for hard corals, if it is more closed, it make a wider and softer flow for soft corals or plants.
6) Connect it to the electric socket.

MAINTENANCE

For the periodic maintenance of the pump, first of all unplug the plug from the electric socket and then take the pump out of water.

Clean regularly the pump and the rotor. In case of very dirty or limestone or with a lot of detritus water, it is recommended a more frequent cleaning.

Proceed in the following way: detach the pre-chamber from the pump (Pic. 2 G/F) and take out the rotor (Pic. 2 E). Clean all the parts: the prechamber, the rotor, the impeller and their sits.

Do not remove the dirt by hard means but using a soft brush with soap or vinegar. If, after that, the impeller makes still some noise, substitute it with a new one because it means that it worn out. Then assemble everything in the inverse order.
