Warnings for the Use of the Appliance

WARNING: Danger of Burns!

- Do not move the appliance when it is in operation.
- After cooking, the radiated heat may cause dangerous temperatures at the cooking zone.

CAUTION:
- Keep a sufficient safety distance (30 cm) from easily inflammable objects such as furniture, curtains, etc!.
- Do not operate the appliance under wall cabinets because of the rising heat and vapours.
- Do not heat empty cookware on the cooking zone, this can pass dangerous overtemperatures.
Mounting the Handles
Before using the appliance, the handles on the left and right side of the housing must be mounted.
- Hold one of the handles with the inside facing you. Make sure that the guide pins point upwards.
- Place the contact protection in the notches under the guide pins so that the labelling can be read (see illustration).

- Insert the guide pins of the handle into the housing so that they point downwards. Make sure that the contact protection does not slip.
- Fasten the handle with the screws provided. The thicker screws (M4) must be screwed on at the bottom and the thinner screws (M3) at the top. Use a Phillips screwdriver for this.
- Finally, place the cover caps on the screws.

Notes for Use
Location
- Place the appliance on a level surface that is resistant to moisture and heat.
- For sensitive surfaces, place a heat-resistant plate underneath.
- During and after use, make sure that the power cord does not come into contact with the hot surface of the appliance.
Electrical Connection
Caution, overload: Do not use extension leads or multiple sockets as this appliance is too powerful.
- Turn the temperature control knob to MIN.
-
Check that the mains voltage you want to use matches that of the appliance. You will find the information on the type plate.
-
Only connect the appliance to a properly installed protective contact socket.
Switching the Appliance On/Off
The appliance is operated with the temperature control knob. The appliance is switched off when the temperature control knob is in the MIN position.
Before First Use
There is a protective layer on the hotplate that burns when the appliance heats up. This may cause smoke and odours to develop when using the appliance, but these will disappear after a few uses. This is not a defect.
- You can minimise the development of smoke by wiping the hotplate with a slightly damp cloth before using it for the first time.
- Do not use any cleaning agents!
- Wipe with a dry cloth.
Only switch on the appliance when it is completely dry.
Always ensure sufficient ventilation. - Operate the appliance separately for several minutes before using it for the first time to allow the protective layers to remove.
- Use the hotplate without cookware. To do this, set the temperature control knob to MAX.
Notes on Cookware
- Only use cooking pots / pans with a flat bottom to make optimum use of the energy (see fig.).

The cookware should never be smaller than the hotplate. This causes energy to be lost. In extreme cases, the hotplate may warp.
Operation
With the temperature control knob, you select the temperature of the hotplate according to the intended use:
Level MIN: Off
Level 1: Warm up
Level 2: Keep warm/continue cooking
Level 3: Continue cooking
Level 4: Roast
Level 5: Parboil, browning
Level MAX: Browning, rapid heating
The control lamp displays when the hotplate is heating up. During operation it switches off and on. This is normal and displays that the temperature is thermostatically controlled and maintained.
End Operation
- Set the temperature control knob to MIN.
- Pull the mains plug out of the socket.
Cleaning

WARNING:
- Always disconnect the mains plug from the socket before cleaning.
- Wait until the appliance has cooled down completely!
- Never immerse the appliance in water for cleaning. It could pass an electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:
- Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive objects.
- Do not use any sharp or abrasive cleaning agents.
Hotplate
- Remove food residues while still warm with a damp cloth or paper towel.
- Wash the hotplate with a soft sponge and some water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
Housing
Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
Storage
- Clean the appliance as described. Allow it to dry completely.
- We recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a long period of time.
