How to use the Hamilton Beach Custom Grind 80393F coffee grinder?

Make sure the grinding chamber is properly locked. Pour in coffee beans up to the desired level (cup markings). Place the lid and lock it by turning clockwise. Select the number of cups and grind coarseness (coarse, medium, fine). Press the ON/OFF button. The grinder stops automatically. Unlock and remove the lid, then the chamber to pour out ground coffee.

What grind settings are available?

Three settings: Coarse for percolator or French press, Medium for drip coffee maker, Fine for espresso machine.

How to clean the grinder?

Unplug the appliance. Wash the lid and grinding chamber with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Never immerse the base, cord or plug in water. Use a small brush to remove stuck beans at the bottom.

What is the maximum bean capacity?

The chamber can grind up to 10 cups of coffee. Use the graduated markings inside for dosing.

Can I use an extension cord?

Yes, an approved extension cord can be used if the cord is too short. Make sure its electrical ratings are equivalent or higher than those of the appliance (120 V, 60 Hz). Place it to avoid tripping hazards.

What if the grinder does not start?

Check that the lid and grinding chamber are properly locked. Make sure the appliance is plugged in and the outlet works. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

The lid becomes opaque over time, is this normal?

Yes, the plastic lid may become opaque with use. This does not affect operation.

What is the warranty period?

Limited warranty of 5 years in Canada and 1 year in the United States against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep the purchase receipt.

Can I grind something other than coffee?

No, this appliance is designed only for coffee beans. Using other foods could damage the blades and void the warranty.

How to store the cord?

Unplug the appliance. Hold the base with one hand and pull the lower part downwards. Wrap the cord around the provided space, then replace the lower part to hide the cord, leaving the plug sticking out.

18. Check that the appliance is OFF (before plugging cord into wall outlet. To disconnect, turn the control to OFF then remove plug from wall outlet. To unplug, grasp the plug and pull from the outlet. Never pull from the power cord.
19. CAUTION! In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.

BEFORE FIRST USE: Wash all removable parts in hot, soapy water. Rinse and dry.

Using the Coffee Grinder

Remove grinding cover, if locked in place, by turning counterclockwise to unlock position; then lift straight up.

Twist grinding chamber clockwise to locked position. Make sure that the grinding chamber is FIRMLY locked into position.

Pour coffee beans directly into grinding chamber and fill to desired level.

Use the convenient cup markings, which correspond to cups of brewed coffee.

Place grinding cover onto grinder. Make sure the arrow on cover is aligned with the unlock symbol on back of grinder. Turn lid clockwise to locked position. Grinding cover will "click" when locked into position.

Move switch up or down to select the amount of cups you will be brewing. Turn grind setting dial clockwise to select COARSE, MEDIUM, or FINE grind. Refer to charts on page 5 for grinding and cup selection. Press the ON/OFF (①button to start grinding. Grinder will turn off automatically at the end of selected grind.

Lift cover straight up to remove. If locked in place, turn counterclockwise to unlock; then lift straight up.

Twist grinding chamber counterclockwise to unlock; then lift straight up.

Pour grounds from grinding chamber into a paper filter or into an airtight container.

Use a small soft-bristled brush to remove grounds at the bottom of the grinding chamber.

TIPS:

• For best flavor, store coffee beans in an airtight container.
• Grind beans immediately before brewing.
• Grinding times will vary by amount and fineness setting.
  • To ensure optimal grinding performance, allow coffee grinder to cool for at least 1 minute between uses.
• Coffee flavor and strength are personal preferences. Vary the type of coffee beans, amount of coffee, and fineness of grind to find the flavor you prefer.

Limited Warranty

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you.
