How to use the Hamilton Beach Custom Grind 80396RC coffee grinder?

Remove the lid, pour beans directly into the grinding chamber up to the desired level (use the cup markings). Place the lid by aligning the arrow with the unlock symbol, then turn clockwise to lock. Select the cup quantity and grind type (coarse, medium, or fine) on the selector. Press the Start/Stop button to start; the grinder shuts off automatically.

What grind settings are available?

The grinder offers three settings: COARSE for percolator or French press, MEDIUM for drip coffee, and FINE for steam or pump espresso machine.

How to clean the coffee grinder?

Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wash the removable lid and grinding chamber in warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Never immerse the base, cord or plug in water.

What to do if the lid is difficult to remove?

The lid must be unlocked before removing. Turn it counterclockwise to the unlocked position, then lift vertically.

What is the maximum grinding capacity?

The grinding chamber can hold up to 10 cups of coffee beans, as indicated by the markings on the chamber.

Can I use an extension cord with this grinder?

Yes, you can use an approved extension cord if the cord is too short. Make sure its electrical ratings are equivalent or greater than the appliance's (120 V ~ 60 Hz). Place it to avoid tripping hazard.

How to store the power cord?

Unplug the appliance. Hold the grinder with one hand and pull the base down with the other. Wrap the cord around the notch in the base, place it in the cutout leaving the plug out, then push the base up to hide the cord.

What to do if the grinder stops during use?

The grinder stops automatically at the end of the grinding cycle. If an unexpected stop occurs, check that the chamber is not too full and the lid is locked properly. Let the appliance cool for about 1 minute before using again.

Is the coffee grinder under warranty?

Yes, this product is covered by a limited warranty of 5 years in Canada and 1 year in the USA from the purchase date, against defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty does not cover normal wear, abuse, or misuse.

Can I grind foods other than coffee?

19. CAUTION! In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut-out, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.

Using the Coffee Grinder

Remove grinding cover, if locked in place, by turning counterclockwise to unlock position; then lift straight up.

Twist grinding chamber clockwise to locked position. Make sure that the grinding chamber is FIRMLY locked into position.

Pour coffee beans directly into grinding chamber and fill to desired level.

Use the convenient cup markings, which correspond to cups of brewed coffee.

Place grinding cover onto grinder. Make sure the arrow on cover is aligned with the unlock symbol on back of grinder. Turn lid clockwise to locked position. Grinding cover will "click" when locked into position.

Move switch up or down to select the amount of cups you will be brewing. Turn grind setting dial clockwise to select COARSE, MEDIUM, or FINE grind. Refer to charts on page 5 for grinding and cup selection. Press the ON/OFF (①) button to start grinding. Grinder will turn off automatically at the end of selected grind.

Lift cover straight up to remove. If locked in place, turn counterclockwise to unlock; then lift straight up.

Twist grinding chamber counterclockwise to unlock; then lift straight up.

Pour grounds from grinding chamber into a paper filter or into an airtight container.

Use a small soft-bristled brush to remove grounds at the bottom of the grinding chamber.

TIPS:

• For best flavor, store coffee beans in an airtight container.
• Grind beans immediately before brewing.
• Grinding times will vary by amount and fineness setting.
  • To ensure optimal grinding performance, allow coffee grinder to cool for at least 1 minute between uses.
• Coffee flavor and strength are personal preferences. Vary the type of coffee beans, amount of coffee, and fineness of grind to find the flavor you prefer.

Limited Warranty

This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.

This product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of five (5) years from the date of original purchase in Canada and one (1) year from the date of original purchase in the U.S. During this period, your exclusive remedy is repair or replacement of this product or any component found to be defective, at our option; however, you are responsible for all costs associated with returning the product to us and our returning a product or component under this warranty to you.
