These operating instructions are intended to make it easier for you to get familiar with your device and utilize its intended possibilities of use. The operating instructions contain important notes on how to work safely, properly and economically with your machine and how to avoid dangers, save repair costs, reduce downtime, and increase the reliability and working life of the machine. In addition to the safety regulations contained herein, you must in any case comply with the applicable regulations of your country with respect to the operation of the machine. Put the operating instructions in a clear plastic folder to protect them from dirt and humidity, and store them near the machine. The instructions must be read and carefully observed by each operator prior to starting the work. Only persons who have been trained in the use of the machine and have been informed on the related dangers and risks are allowed to use the machine. The required minimum age must be met. In addition to the safety notes contained in the present operating instructions and the special regulations of your country, the generally recognized technical rules for the operation of wood working machines must be observed. - When you unpack the device, check all parts for possible transport damages. In case of complaints the supplier is to be informed immediately.
- Complaints received at a later date will not be acknow- ledged.
- Check the delivery for completeness.
- Read the operating instructions to make yourself familiar with the device prior to using it.
- Only use original scheppach parts for accessories as well as for wearing and spare parts. Spare parts are available from your specialized dealer.

- Pass the safety instructions to all persons working with the machine.
- The operator must be at least 18 years old. Trainees must be at least 16 years old, but are only allowed to use the machine under supervision.
- Persons operating the machine must not be distracted.
- Keep away children from the machine if it is connected to the mains.
- Always wear tight clothes. Remove jewelry, rings, and wrist watches.
- Observe all safety instructions and warnings on the machine and maintain them in a readable state.
- Be careful when working with the machine: The rotating cutting tool may cause injuries of fingers and hands. m Stability Make sure the machine is installed on a firm ground with sufficient stability. m Mains Connection of the Machine
- Check the mains connection lines. Do not use defective lines. See “Electrical Connection“.
- Pay attention to the direction of rotation of the motor and the tools. See “Electrical Connection“.
- Installations, repair, and maintenance work relating to the electric installation may only be performed by specialists.
- Turn off the machine before you repair failures. Disconnect the mains plug.
- Turn off the motor when you leave the workplace. Disconnect the mains plug.
- Disconnect the machine from any external energy supply also in case of only moving the machine to another, nearby location! Properly reconnect the machine to the mains before you turn it on again!english 23 m Additional Safety Information for the Propeller Shaft Operation
- For tractors with a hydraulically or pneumatically con- trolled power take-off clutch, a free-wheeling propeller shaft is to be used.
- Stop the machine, turn off the tractor, and remove the ignition key before you repair failures or remove pinched pieces of wood.
- If you leave the workplace, turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key.
- During a transport of the circular saw, the power take-off operation must be turned off.
- The warning sign with rear light according to DIN 110030 must be mounted on the saw, and the rear light must be connected to the tractor.
- The circular saw may only be operated with tractors with a 3-point-attachment (category 1 and 2) at an engine speed of 1/min. 540. m Setup and Adjustment of the Machine
- Only perform retooling, measuring, and cleaning work when the motor is turned off. Disconnect the mains plug, and wait until the rotating tool stands still.
- All protection and safety devices must be immediately reinstalled once the repair and maintenance work is completed.
- Only use saw blades that are well-sharpened, free of cracks and do not show any deformation. Intended Use
- The circular saw has been exclusively designed for the processing of wood using the tools provided.
- The machine meets the currently valid EU machine directive.
- The machine has been designed for a one-shift operation, operating factor S6-40%.
- Independent of the wood diameter, only 1 piece may be put on the rocker/the table.
- Observe all safety instructions and warnings on the device.
- Make sure that all safety instructions and warnings on the machine always are in a readable state.
- If the machine is used in closed rooms, it must be connected to an exhaust system.
- Only use the machine if it is in a technically faultless state. Pay attention to the intended use, the safety and dangers and comply with the operating instructions! Immediately repair (or have repair) failures which may affect the safety!
- The safety, working, and maintenance instructions and the dimensions set forth in the specifications must be observed.
- The applicable regulations for the prevention of accidents and other, generally recognized safety rules must be observed.
- The machine may only be used, maintained or repaired by trained persons who are familiar with the machine and have been informed about the dangers. Unauthorized modifications of the machine exclude a liability of the manufacturer for damages resulting from the modifications. - The machine may only be used with original scheppach accessories and original tools of the manufacturer.
- Any other use is considered to be not intended. The manufacturer excludes any liability for resulting damages, the risk is exclusively borne by the user.
- Rocking frame circular saw: The saw has been exclusively designed for the trimming of firewood with a maximum length of 1 m.
- Rocking table circular saw/sliding table circular saw: The saw has been exclusively designed for the ripping and trimming of firewood and for the sawing of firewood.
- Insert the rip fence for ripping cuts and mount the appropriate saw blade cover. Use the sliding stick. Residual Risks The machine has been constructed according to the state of the art and the recognized safety rules. Nevertheless, single residual risks may occur during the operation.
- The rotating saw blade may cause injuries of fingers and hands in case of an improper guidance of the work piece.
- Health hazard by means of wood dusts and saw dust.
- Always wear the personal protection equipment as well as an eye protection and a dust mask.
- Health hazard due to excessive noise. During the work, the admissible noise level is exceeded. Always wear the personal protective equipment (ear protection).
- Danger caused by electric current if inappropriate electrical connecting lines are used.
- Furthermore, non obvious residual risks may exist in spite of all measures taken.
- Residual risks can be minimized by carefully observing the “Safety Instructions“ and the “Intended Use“ sections as well as the entire operating instructions. Assembly Upon delivery, the machine is completely assembled and is, thus, ready to work immediately. KE d700: Remove the handle from the rocking joint and insert it on the left side wall of the frame. Installation and Adjustment Please make sure that your rocking frame circular saw is installed in an upright and stable manner on a firm ground. The borings on the foot brackets allow the machine to be properly fastened on the floor. Tractor Attachment Fig. 01
- For the cutting of firewood you have to attach the circular saw in longitudinal direction to the 3-point-hydraulics of the tractor.
- If you want to perform ripping cuts, uncouple the circular saw from the 3-point-hydraulics and operate it at an angle of 90¡ across the tractor.
- The free spline stub must be covered with the protective cover.
- Use the chain to protect the propeller shaft during the operation from racing.
- Hang up the propeller shaft in the holding clip after the disconnection of the tractor.
- If you leave the workplace, turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key. Transport of the Machine Rocking frame circular saw/ rocking table circular saw KW and KWZ Fig. 02
- Lock the rocker catch during the transport of the rocking frame circular saw.
- Fold down and lock the table during the transport of the rocking table circular saw.
- KW 7: Remove the transport handle (1) and distort it (2) for a safe transport (retention by means of a screw head in the transport handle). Sliding table circular saws KE and KEZ
- KE 70m and KEZ 700: To transport the sliding table circular saw, lock the table locking device and put the sawing table into a horizontal position.
- KE d 700: The machine can only be transported at right angles to the saw blade. Remove the transport handle (1) and distort it (2) for a safe transport (retention by means of a screw head in the transport handle). Tractor Attachment
- During a transport of the circular saw, the power take-off operation must be turned off.
- The warning sign with rear light according to DIN 110030 must be mounted on the saw, and the rear light must be connected to the tractor (see also Fig. 02). Electrical Connection
- Connect the machine to the mains supply using the CEE plug. The supply line must be protected with 16 A.
- Switch on the saw with the operating switch. The saw shaft starts working.
- If the saw is turned off, the saw shaft comes to a standstill within 10 s.
- The customer-side network connection must be protected by a residual current circuit breaker with a rated residual current of 30 mA maximum. Changing the Direction of Rotation Fig. 03 The installed electric motor is connected and is ready to work. The connection complies with the relevant VDE and DIN regulations. The connection to the mains supply on the customer side and the used extension line must meet these regulations or the provisions of the local power supply company. Motor Braking Device If the machine is switched off, an automatically operated mechanical brake (exception: KE d 700 that is equipped with a braking plate) ensures the safe braking. The brake reduces the speed of the driving motor of the saw shaft within 10 s. If the braking operation takes more than 10 s, the machine must not be used anymore as the brake is defect. The machine must be disconnected from the power supply in any case. The troubleshooting may exclusively be performed by an electrician. Operating Mode/Operating Time The electric motor has been dimensioned for the S6Ð40% operating mode. This abbreviation means:26 english S6: Continuous operation duty type 40%: (referred to 10 min.) 4 min. load; 6 min. idle operation. If the motor is overload, it automatically switches off as a winding thermostat is inserted in the motor winding. After a (varying) cooling period the motor can be turned on again. Defective Electric Connection Lines Often, insulation damages occur on electrical connection lines. The possible causes are:
- Drag marks if connection lines are led through window or door clearances.
- Kinks due to improper attachment or routing of the connection line.
- Cuts caused by running over the connection line.
- Insulation damages caused by pulling the connection line out of the wall socket.
- Fissures caused by the aging of the insulation. Such defective electrical connection lines must not be used and are, due to the insulation damages, life threatening! Regularly check the electrical connection lines for damages. Please make sure that the connection lines are disconnected from the mains supply during the check. Electrical connection lines must meet the applicable VDE and DIN regulations and the provisions of the local power supply company. Only use connection lines labeled with H07RN. The labeling of the connection cable with the type specification is required.
- Extension lines up to a length of 25 m must have a cross section of 1.5 mm2, lines with a length exceeding 25 m must have a minimum cross section of 2.5 mm2.
- The mains connection is protected with a 16 A delay- action fuse. Threephase Current Motor
- The supply voltage must be 380-420 V/50 Hz.
- The connection to the mains supply and the extension lines must be of a five-conductor type (3 P + N + SL).
- The extension lines must have a minimum cross section of 1.5 mm.
- The mains connection is protected with a maximum of 16 A.
- In case of a connection to the mains supply or if the machine is moved to a different location, the direction of rotation must be checked. If required, the polarity must be reversed (see also Fig. 03). Connections and repairs of the electrical equipment may only be performed by an electrician. If you have further questions, please specify the following:
- Motor manufacturer and type
- Kind of current of the motor
- Data from the machine type plate
- Data of the electric control If you return the motor, always return the complete drive unit with the electric control. Operation of the kw 7, kwz 7, kw-ze 7
- Please observe the safety information before you turn on the machine.
- All protection and safety devices must be installed.
- Only perform retooling, measuring, and cleaning work when the motor is turned off. Disconnect the mains plug, and wait until the rotating tool stands still.
- The rocking frame circular saw has been exclusively designed for the trimming of firewood with a maximum length of 1 m.
- Independent of the wood diameter, only one piece may be put on the rocker.
- Hold the piece of wood with your left hand, and operate the rocker with your right hand.
- Check the V-belt tension after the first working hour as well as before each start of the machine. Caution!
- If you work with crooked pieces of wood, the crooked side must point towards the saw blade slot to prevent the wood from turning over and getting jammed during the cutting process. Saw Blade Exchange of the Rocking Frame Circular Saw Fig. 04
- Only perform maintenance, repair and cleaning work as well as the repair of failures when the drive is turned off (disconnect the mains plug or turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key).
- To exchange the saw blade, release the rocker internally, and swing it out. (arrow)
- Swing back the bearing cover once you have loosened the wing nut. Unscrew the wing nut of the saw blade protection and swing the protection back as well.
- To fix the saw blade, put the clamping pin through the lower saw blade protection.
- Loosen the saw blade using the provided saw blade wrench.
- Reinstall the saw blade protection, the bearing cover, and the rocker. Operation of the ke 70m, kez 70, ked 700
- Please observe the safety information before you turn on the machine.

- The firewood cutting protection cover must be installed if you want to saw firewood.
- It is not allowed to cut firewood without a feeding device.
- Once the feeding device has been operated, the sawing table can be moved. Fig. 10.2 and 10.3
- To insert the pull-back spring, unlock the sawing table and push forward completely (arrow). By means of the pull-back spring the sawing table is pulled back to its initial position after each cutting operation. Fig. 10.4english 27
- The sawing table is not locked for the sawing of firewood.
- The locking bolt is relocated to the front and serves as limit stop if the table is moved. Ripping Cuts with the Sliding Table Circular Saw (Special Accessory) Fig. 11.1 and 11.2
- Remove the firewood cutting protection covering to perform ripping cuts.
- Insert the covering cap for ripping cuts into the support and fasten the T-screw.
- Install the complete ripping cut accessory kit according to the illustrations in the spare parts list.
- Unhinge the pull-back spring beneath the sawing table.
- Fix the sawing table in the ripping cut position.
- Use the sliding stock to perform ripping cuts of small work pieces.
- Adjust the ripping cut cover to the height of the work piece, and tightly fasten the T-screw. Note, see Fig. 07
- We recommend to use a saw blade with a diameter of 500 mm for ripping cuts. The maximum cutting height is 150 mm.
- Please contact your scheppach retailer for the parts required for the assembly. Splitting Wedge Adjustment Fig. 08
- The distance between the saw blade and the splitting wedge may range from 3 mm to 8 mm. The splitting wedge tip must be set such that it is located ~2 mm below the maximum saw tooth height. Check this setting after each saw blade exchange and readjust, if required.
- Please pay attention to the splitting wedge thickness, see number imprinted on the splitting wedge. The splitting wedge must not be thinner than the saw blade and not thicker than its cutting joint width.
- The saw blade must be in alignment with the splitting wedge. Saw Blade Exchange of the Sliding Table Circular Saw Fig. 12.1, 12.2, and 12.3
- Only perform maintenance, repair and cleaning work as well as the repair of failures when the drive is turned off (disconnect the mains plug or turn off the tractor and remove the ignition key).
- The saw blade can only be exchanged if the table has been folded up.
- The ripping cut covering cap must be removed while the firewood cutting protection cover remains installed.
- Unlock the table, unhinge the pull-back spring, pull back the table and fold it up from the rear.
- Use the locking clip to fix the folded up table on the base foot.
- To fix the saw blade, put the clamping pin through the lower saw blade protection.
- Loosen the saw blade using the provided saw blade wrench.
- Exchange the saw blade. Maintenance
- Only perform maintenance, repair and cleaning work as well as the repair of failures when the drive is turned off (disconnect the mains plug or remove the ignition key).
- Check the V-belt tension after the first working hour as well as before each start of the machine. To do so, loosen the T-screw of the motor console. Press the console downwards and tightly fasten the T-screw again.
- All ball bearings are provided with a permanent lubrication. The circular saw blade is a wearing part and must be checked prior to each operation of the saw. Only a well-sharpened, set saw blade ensures a good cutting performance. It is recommended to grease the saw blade occasionally. - Loosen the hexagon head cap screw, and press the gear downwards evenly. The gear must be in a parallel position when it is regulated.
- Fasten the hexagon head cap screws. Exchanging the Gear Oil Fig. 14
- Replace the gear annually.
