USER MANUAL Gourmet Reversible RE8010 TEFAL
When using electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
- Read all instructions before using.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid.
- Not intended for use by children. Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
- Before use, check that your local voltage corresponds with the specifications shown on the appliance nameplate located under the appliance.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
- The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating.
- Check that the electrical installation is compatible with the wattage and voltage stated on the bottom of the appliance.
- If this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other), it is to reduce the risk of electric shock. This plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

Safety instructions
- Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
- Do not immerse the appliance in water.
- Do not immerse the appliance, the control panel or power cord in water.
- If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
- To prevent the appliance from overheating, do not place it in a corner or against a wall.
- Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.
- Do not place the hot plate under water or on a fragile surface.

Short Cord instructions
A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used :
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding 3-wire cord; and
3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

This appliance is intended for domestic household use only. It is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:
- staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farm houses:

Prevention of accidents in the home
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- For a child, even a slight burn may sometimes be serious.
- As they grow up, teach your children to be careful with hot appliances in the kitchen.
- If your appliance is used in the company of children, always use it under adult supervision.
- Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
- Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.
- Never run the appliance empty.
- If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.
- Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.
- Only use the plate and the individual deep pans supplied with the appliance or purchased from an approved service centre.
- To prevent damage to the plates and the accessories: only use them on the appliance for which they were designed (e.g., do not place in an oven, on the gas ring or electric hot-plate, etc.).
- Before each use, the cooking plate, the utensiles and any other component that comes into contact with foodstuff must be washed.

Environment protection first!
Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled.
Leave it at a local civic waste collection point.
Before first use
- Remove all packaging materials and any promotional labels or stickers from the unit.
- After unpacking, thoroughly clean both sides of the grill plate, spatulas and raclette deep pans with warm water and mild dish soap.
- Place the base of the raclette on a clean, flat, heat resistant surface.
- Make sure that the grill plate is on the heating element and securely aligned on the supports.
- Place your appliance on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface. Avoid using your appliance on a soft surface such as a tea-towel.
- Both sides of the grill plate may be used. The smooth side is intended for eggs, pancakes and other similar items, etc. The ribbed grill surface is perfect for grilling chicken, steak and vegetables.
- On first use, pour a little cooking oil on the plate and trays, then wipe off any excess with an absorbent kitchen towel.
Place the appliance on the middle of the table, out of the reach of children.
Never place the appliance directly onto a delicate surface (glass table, cloth, varni-shed furniture...).
Never place aluminum foil or anything else under the plate and between the heating coil and the plate.
Getting started
- Unwind the cord completely.
- Plug the cord into the mains. -1.
- Be cautious how you place the cord, so that it does not get in the way of guests moving around the table.
- Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.
- This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
- Appliance with an earthed socket: always plug the appliance into an earthed socket.
- If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
- Never leave the appliance unattended when in use.
- Set the thermostat to the max position, the indicator will light up. -2.
- Allow appliance to pre-heat for 15 minutes without the trays.
Check that both sides of the grill plate have carefully been cleaned before each use.
On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.
Never leave the appliance plugged in when not in use.
While cooking, raclette trays can be put onto the tray compartments under the heating element.
Using Your Raclette
After pre-heating, the appliance is ready to be used :
- For the raclette function, have each guest place a slice of cheese in their individual tray before placing it under the grill plate to melt.
- Do not leave the trays in the appliance while empty.
- The grill plate will cook small strips of meat or your accompaniments (bacon, mushrooms, onions, prawns, small sausages...). On the griddle plate, you can also make pancakes and eggs.

- You can adjust the thermostat during cooking according to the desired cooking temperature by using the knob.
- If you wish to move the appliance when it is hot, use the plastic side handles, taking care not to touch the metal. -4.
To avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the grill plate, always use a plastic T-Fal or wooden utensils. - 3.
Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
Do not slice directly on the plate.
Do not turn over the grill plate during use. Wait until it is completely cooled down.
Do not touch the metal parts of the appliance while in use; they are very hot.
Product Maintenance
- Put the switch to min. - 5.
- Unplug the cord from the wall socket. - 6.
- Leave the appliance to cool for at least 2 hours without touching it. While it is cooling down, keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
- Clean the grill plate, the trays and the base of the appliance with a sponge, warm water and mild dish soap. - 7.
- Never immerse the appliance and the cord in water or in the dishwasher.
The grill plate and the trays can be put in the dishwasher.
Do not use scouring pads or hard abrasive powder to clean any part of the appliance. - 8.
Storage
- Check that the appliance is cooled and disconnected before stowing away.
- Ensure that the base and cooking plate are correctly positioned and unplugged.
- Wind the cord around the two hooks positioned at the back of the product.- 9.
Raclette accessories are designed to stack neatly for convenient storage.
Keep the stored appliance out of the reach of children.
