How to use the Emerio CME122933.7 coffee maker for the first time?

Before first use, rinse the detachable components with warm water. Fill the tank with cold water to the maximum level, then run the coffee maker twice without coffee to rinse the system.

How much ground coffee should I use?

Use the provided measuring spoon (about 7 g per cup). For 10 cups, add about 10 level scoops of ground coffee to the reusable filter.

Why is the coffee not dripping?

Check that the tank has enough water, the filter is properly in place, and the carafe is correctly positioned on the plate. The drip-stop only deactivates when the carafe is in place with the lid closed.

What to do in case of coffee overflow?

Do not fill the tank beyond the maximum level. Make sure the carafe lid is closed so the drip-stop works. If the problem persists, descale the appliance.

How to descale the coffee maker?

Pour 400 ml of water and one dose of commercial descaling agent into the tank. Let it sit for one hour, then turn on the appliance to run the solution through. Repeat with clear water several times to rinse.

The appliance turns off by itself, is this normal?

Yes, the coffee maker has an automatic shut-off after 40 minutes of operation for safety reasons. You can turn it back on manually by pressing the switch.

Can I use coffee pods or capsules?

No, this machine is designed only for ground coffee. Use the provided reusable mesh filter.

Before use make sure to read all of the below instructions in order to avoid injury or damage, and to get the best results from the appliance. Make sure to keep this manual in a safe place. If you give or transfer this appliance to someone else make sure to also include this manual.

1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
2. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
3. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

25. Fill the reservoir with water only – not with any other liquids. Do not let the appliance operate without water.

28. Scalding may occur if the cover is removed during the brewing cycles. Be careful not to get burned by the steam.
29. Make sure the jug is placed on the warming tray correctly during the brewing.
30. The jug is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
31. Do not clean the jug with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.
32. Some parts of the appliance are hot when operated; do not touch with hand. Use handles or knobs only.

OPERATION

Before first-time use:

• Before using this device for the first time please carefully rinse all detachable components with warm water.
• Fill the reservoir with cold water to the maximum water level indication.
  • Afterwards brew water twice without coffee powder.

To percolate coffee:

1. Fill the reservoir with cold water.
2. Open the top cover and fill the reservoir to the desired water level indication. The maximum capacity is 1.25L (approximately 10 cups).
3. Place the reusable mesh filter into the filter basket and place the filter basket into the brewing chamber. Use the measuring spoon to add the amount of coffee powder appropriate to the amount of cups you want to brew. Close the top cover.
4. Now place the jug on the tray of the appliance. Make sure the lid of jug is closed in order to unlock the anti-drip function.
   Note: The appliance is designed with an anti-drip function. You can temporarily remove the jug and pour out coffee during brewing cycle without coffee dripping from the appliance within 30 seconds.
5. Plug the power cord into an appropriate outlet. Press the power on/off switch to start brewing coffee.
6. Remove out the jug to serve when finish brewing (about one minute later after the coffee stops dripping out.).
7. If you leave the device switched on, the tray will keep the coffee warm after finishing brewing. The whole working process will last 40 minutes. After 40 minutes the unit will be automatically shut off and stop working. You can manually press the power switch again to switch on the appliance.
8. Always turn off the appliance and disconnect the power supply when not in use.

CAUTION! When pouring coffee from the jug, pour it slowly. Do not incline the jug suddenly in a large tilting angle, in case the hot coffee flows out from the lid rim and hurt people. Do not put an empty jug back on the hot warming tray.

Descaling:

- Regularly descale the coffee maker. The intervals of descaling depend on the water hardness and frequency of operation. In case of average water hardness we suggest descaling every 3 or 4 months. Please use a commercially available decalcification agent.

• Fill 400 ml of water into the reservoir and add the necessary amount of decalcification agent in accordance with the dosing instructions.
• Let the decalcification agent sink in the coffee maker for about one hour. Switch on the unit after one hour and let the water pass through. After that you should brew water several times and rinse all detachable components, in order to clean off any residue.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before cleaning remove the mains plug and let the device cool down.
• Never immerse the device in water. Please use a slightly damp cloth to clean the surfaces.
• Avoid using acrid or scrubbing cleaning agents.
• Keep the coffee maker in a dry place out of reach from children when cooled off and cleaned.
• Do not wrap the cord around the device.
