Frequently Asked Questions - 40830 Vollrath

What is the maximum power of this Vollrath 40830 microwave oven?
The maximum power is not specified in the manual. The power levels are adjustable from 10% (Low) to 100% (High), with a Defrost level at 30%. Use the power selection button to choose the appropriate level.
How do I set the cooking time?
Turn the TIME/Start/Stop knob to select the duration. The increments depend on the total time: 10 seconds between 0 and 5 minutes, 30 seconds from 5 to 10 minutes, 1 minute from 10 to 30 minutes, and 5 minutes from 30 to 60 minutes. Press the knob to start cooking.
Can I use metal containers in this oven?
No, metal containers (including aluminum foil) can damage the oven and do not allow proper cooking. Use only microwave-safe containers.
How do I clean the microwave oven?
Unplug the appliance first. Clean the interior and exterior with a soft damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or steel wool, as they will damage the finish. Avoid excessive wetting of the control panel.
What should I do if there is a fire inside the oven?
Keep the oven door closed, turn off the oven, and unplug it or disconnect power at the fuse or circuit breaker. Do not open the door until the flames are under control.
Can I heat whole eggs in this oven?
No, whole eggs can explode due to internal pressure. Never microwave them. For foods with thick skin (potatoes, squash, etc.), pierce them before cooking.
Why is my oven not heating?
Check that the oven is properly plugged into a grounded outlet and the door is fully closed. Ensure the cooking time is set (the oven will not heat if the TIME/Start/Stop knob is not activated). If the problem persists, contact a qualified technician.
What is the warranty on this Vollrath oven?
The Vollrath Company LLC warrants this product against any defects in materials and workmanship for commercial use. The warranty takes effect on the original purchase date. For full details, visit Vollrath.com. Register your product for a chance to enter a sweepstakes.
Can I use an extension cord?
No, do not use any extension cord, power strip, or multiple outlet power cord. Plug the oven directly into a grounded outlet.
