To enjoy your new BIG WHEELER 1601 E MOWER as long as possible, please read carefully the Operating Instructions and the attached safety instructions before putting the appliance into operation. We also recommend keeping the Operating Instructions for future reference.

We reserve making technical changes to improve the appliance as part of the continuous product development.

Rotating knife

Perform any work/adjustment on the appliance only when the engine is switched off, appliance unplugged and the cutting knife idle.

Before cutting

Cut only with solid boots and long trousers; never cut when barefooted or in sandals.

Check the ground where the appliance is to be used for items that may get caught and be thrown-away by the mower and remove such items (stones, branches, etc.).

Check the appliance cables for any damage and age (fragility) and have them repaired by an electrician if necessary.

Check regularly the grass catcher for any wear and deformation.

Never use the appliance without a completely fitted grass catcher or buffer. Risk of injury.

Before using the appliance, check (visually) the cutting tools and their fastening means for any damage.

When cutting

Do not incline the appliance when starting the engine and if the appliance is plugged.

Keep the safe distance delimited by the handles.

Switch on the engine only if your legs are in a safe distance from the cutting knife.

Make sure your body posture is safe. Move the mower carefully forward.

Cutting on slopes:

  • Cut across the slope at all times, not up and down
  • Be particularly careful when changing direction
  • Do not cut on slopes that are too steep

Be especially careful when reversing or pulling the mower to yourself.

Never touch the rotating cutting knife.

The knife keeps rotating for a few seconds after switching the appliance off. Never touch the rotating knife.

Never stand before the grass ejection hole when opened.

Never open the grass ejection hole when the engine is running.

Never operate the mower on gravel when the engine is running. RISK OF HITTING STONES!!!

Do not cut in wet grass.

Under the following circumstances, the appliance must be switched off, unplugged and you must wait until the appliance fully stops.

  • When leaving the mower
  • When releasing a locked knife
  • When setting the cutting height
  • When emptying the grass catcher
  • When hitting a foreign item
    If the mower strongly vibrates due to unbalance (to be switched off immediately and the cause identified)
  • When lifting and carrying the mower
  • When inclining or transporting the mower (e.g. from/to the grass or via roads).

ROTATING CUTTING KNIFE!!!

Every time the appliance is to be serviced and cleaned:

  • Unplug the appliance.
  • Do not touch the rotating edges.

Check regularly all visible fastening bolts and nuts, especially on the cutting bar if tightened and tighten them if necessary.

Do not store the mower in wet rooms.

Any worn or damaged parts must immediately be replaced for safety reasons.

Spare parts of the manufacturer to be used only.

Training

Please read carefully the Operating Instructions and the servicing instructions. Familiarise thoroughly with the controls and proper using of the appliance. You must know how the appliance works and how the controls may quickly be switched off.

Never let children work with the appliance. Never let an adult person work with the appliance without proper training.

Do not let any persons, especially small children and pets, to the place of your work.

Assembly

Fastening the handles

  1. Insert the two posts in appropriate holes on the mower and fasten them using two bolts (included in the supply).
  2. Shift the cable pull relief equipment above the arch handle and fasten it using the holding clamps (included in the supply).
  3. Now fasten the arch handle to the bottom posts using bolts and fly nuts (included in the supply).
  4. Fasten the 2-point safety switch cable to the arch handle and the post using two cable clamps.

Grass catcher assembly

  1. Assemble the grass catcher as shown in the picture.

Rotating knife

Perform any work/adjusting on the appliance only when the engine is switched off, appliance unplugged and the cutting knife idle.

Operation in general

Grass catcher fitting

  1. Lift the buffer and fit the grass catcher in the appropriate fixture on the back of the mower.
  2. Lower the buffer.

Cutting height setting

Press the cutting height setting lever outwards and let it snap in the required cutting height position.

Switching the mower on/off

Switch on the mower on a level surface. Do not switch the mower in high grass - incline it in high grass if necessary.

Switching the engine on

Make a loop from the end of the extension cable and hang it on the cable pull relief equipment.
- Plug the mower.
- Press the ON button.
- Pull the starting lever while the ON button is pressed.
- Release the ON button.

Switching the engine off

  • Release the starting lever and unplug the feeder cable.

Grass catcher emptying

  • Unhook and empty the grass catcher.
  • Clear the obstructed cutting mechanism if necessary.
  • Refit the grass catcher.

Warranty

A warranty period of 12 months applies to commercial use and 24 months apply to private use and commences on the day of purchase of the device.

Warranty applies exclusively to failures due to defective material or workmanship. An original sale slip with indication of date of sale must be presented in case of claiming for the warranty rights.

Warranty does not cover unprofessional use such as device overload, violent use, damage caused by third party or foreign materials, failure to comply with operations and assembly manual, and normal wear and tear.
