How do I connect the HDMI switch?

Ensure all devices are powered off. Connect an HDMI source to an input port (cable ≤ 5 m), then connect the switch output to the display (cable ≤ 5 m). Plug the external power supply into the switch, then into a wall outlet. Turn on the sources and display. Use the Select button or the remote control to change sources.

Why is there no picture on my display?

Check that the switch power supply is plugged in and the red LED is on. Make sure the source is on and HDMI cables are securely connected. Try a shorter cable or reduce the video resolution. If the problem persists, test the cables with another device.

The auto-switching is not working, why?

Auto-switching only works when source devices are completely turned off (not in standby mode). When the active device is turned off, the switch automatically switches to the next powered-on source. If multiple sources are on, the lowest-numbered port has priority.

What is the recommended maximum HDMI cable length?

For optimal reliability, the HDMI cable length between the source and the switch should not exceed 5 meters (16 ft). Similarly, the connection between the switch and the display should not exceed 5 meters. Use high-quality cables, such as Tripp Lite's P569 series.

My TV does not display 4K resolution, what should I do?

Make sure your source and display support 4K and you are using a high-speed HDMI cable. Check that the switch supports 4K @ 60 Hz (4:4:4). If the image remains unstable, reduce the resolution or color depth in the source settings.

The remote control does not respond, what should I do?

Check that the remote control batteries are inserted correctly and are not depleted. Point the remote at the sensor on the switch. If the remote still does not work, use the Select button directly on the device to change sources.

The power LED does not light up, what should I check?

Ensure the external power supply is properly connected to the switch and plugged into a working wall outlet. Check that the power adapter is not damaged. If the LED remains off, contact Tripp Lite technical support for a warranty replacement.

Does the switch get hot during use?

The switch may warm up slightly during operation, but the surface temperature should remain below 40 °C. Do not block the ventilation openings and place it in a well-ventilated area. If the device becomes very hot to the touch, unplug it and contact customer service.

Can I use standard HDMI cables or do I need specific cables?

For optimal performance, it is recommended to use high-speed HDMI cables with Ethernet, such as Tripp Lite's P569 series. Lower quality cables may limit resolution or cause signal loss. The maximum recommended length is 5 meters.

What if the audio does not work or is distorted?

Check that the source is sending a compatible audio format (DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD, PCM 7.1). Make sure the HDMI cable is in good condition and does not exceed 5 m. In the source settings, try switching the audio format to PCM if the problem persists.

Installation

1. Make sure the power to all devices that you will be connecting is turned off.
2. Connect an HDMI source device to an Input port on the switch.

Note: The length of the HDMI cable connecting the source to the switch must not exceed 16 ft. (5 m).

1. Repeat step 2 to connect source devices to the remaining Input ports on the switch.
2. Connect the Output port on the switch to the HDMI input port of your display.

Installation

1. Connect the external power supply to the switch, and then plug it into a Surge Protector, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) or Power Distribution Unit (PDU). The red Power LED and green Input 1 LED will illuminate to indicate that power is being received.
2. Turn on the power to the HDMI source devices and display.
3. Switch between source devices via the Select pushbutton on the unit or the included remote control. You can also let the Auto Switch functionality automatically switch to ports that are powered on. When multiple ports have powered-on devices connected to them, the lowest numbered port will be switched to. Once the device connected to the lowest numbered port is powered off, the next powered-on port in line will be switched to.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to get an acceptable image after following the installation instructions, try the troubleshooting tips below.

1. Is the external power supply that came with the product connected and plugged into a working power source?
   For the product to function properly, the switch must be connected to and receiving power from an external power supply.
2. Was the power to the connected devices turned off prior to installation? If not, restart them.
3. What resolution are you trying to reach? B119-002-UHD, B119-004-UHD and B119-005-UHD are tested to support 4K x 2K Ultra High Definition (UHD) video resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz, and 48-bit Deep Color (16 bits per channel).
4. What length HDMI cable are you using? (See the Installation section in this manual for details on the maximum cable distance). The shorter the cable being used, the higher the resolution you will be able to obtain. (continued)

Troubleshooting

If you are not able to get an acceptable image, try using a shorter cable, or lowering your source's video resolution or color depth settings.

5. What type of cabling are you using?

Inferior cabling can result in poor performance, so it is important that you use cables that can support the video resolution you are trying to obtain. For optimal results, use P569-Series High Speed HDMI cables. They have been tested to work with the B119-002-UHD, B119-004-UHD and B119-005-UHD switches.

6. Test your cables to ensure they are working properly. For example, connect your HDMI cable between a source and monitor that you know works to see if the cable is functioning.

7. Is the unit located in an area that exposes it to higher temperatures?

If the product is overheated, it will not function properly.
