Frequently Asked Questions - B119002UHD Tripp Lite

How to connect the HDMI switch?
Make sure all devices are turned off. Connect the HDMI sources to the Input ports of the switch, then connect the Output port to your monitor. Plug in the external power adapter and turn on the devices. Use the Select button or remote control to change sources.
What if auto-switching does not work?
Auto-switching only works if the source device is completely turned off (not in standby). Verify that the power is off on the source you want to deactivate. If multiple sources are on, the port with the lowest number takes priority.
What is the maximum supported resolution?
The switch supports Ultra HD 4K resolution up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz, with 48-bit color depth. Make sure to use compatible high-speed HDMI cables.
What HDMI cable length can I use?
For optimal reliability, the cable length between the source and the switch should not exceed 5 meters. Similarly, the connection between the switch and the monitor should be less than 5 meters. Use Tripp Lite P569 cables.
Is the switch compatible with my 7.1 audio system?
Yes, it supports DTS-HD and Dolby True HD audio formats, as well as 7.1 channel surround sound. Connect the HDMI output directly to your compatible audio receiver.
Can I use the switch with a universal remote?
The switch comes with a dedicated infrared remote control. It is not guaranteed to work with universal remotes. Use the supplied remote for maximum reliability.
What to do if no image appears?
First check that the external power is connected and on (red/green LED). Make sure the HDMI cables are firmly inserted and in good condition. Reduce the source resolution or color depth. Test the cable directly between source and monitor.
Is HDCP supported?
Yes, the switch is HDCP 2.2 compliant, allowing it to work with protected content such as 4K Blu-ray and streaming services.
What is the warranty for this product?
Tripp Lite offers a 3-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep your proof of purchase and contact Tripp Lite support to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
Can I use a different power adapter?
No, use exclusively the supplied power adapter (5V/1A). Using a different adapter may damage the switch. The included plug adapters allow worldwide use (100-240V).

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to get an acceptable image after following the installation instructions, try the troubleshooting tips below.

  1. Is the external power supply that came with the product connected and plugged into a working power source? For the product to function properly, the switch must be connected to and receiving power from an external power supply.
  2. Was the power to the connected devices turned off prior to installation? If not, restart them.
  3. What resolution are you trying to reach? Tripp Lite’s B119- 002-UHD, B119- 004-UHD and B119- 005-UHD are tested to support 4K x 2K Ultra High Definition (UHD) video resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz, and 48-bit Deep Color (16 bits per channel).
  4. What length HDMI cable are you using? (See the Installation section in this manual for details on the maximum cable distance). The shorter the cable being used, the higher the resolution you will be able to obtain. (continued)

If you are not able to get an acceptable image, try using a shorter cable, or lowering your source's video resolution or color depth settings.

5. What type of cabling are you using?

Inferior cabling can result in poor performance, so it is important that you use cables that can support the video resolution you are trying to obtain. It is recommended that you use Tripp Lite's P569-Series High Speed HDMI cables, as they have been tested to work with the B119-002-UHD, B119-004-UHD and B119-005-UHD.

6. Test your cables to ensure they are working properly. For example, connect your HDMI cable between a source and monitor that you know works to see if the cable is functioning.

7. Is the unit located in an area that exposes it to higher temperatures? If the product is overheated, it will not function properly.
