1. Make sure the power to all devices that you
will be connecting is turned off.
2. Connect an HDMI source device to an
Input port on the switch. Note: The length of the HDMI cable connecting the source to the switch must not exceed 16 ft. (5 m).
3. Repeat step 2 to connect source devices to
the remaining Input ports on the switch.
4. Connect the Output port on the switch to
the HDMI input port of your display. Note: The length of the HDMI cable connecting the switch to the display must not exceed 16 ft. (5 m). Optional Accessories

5. Connect the external power supply to the
switch, and then plug it into a Tripp Lite Surge Protector, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), or Power Distribution Unit (PDU). The red Power LED and green Input 1 LED will illuminate to indicate that power is being received.
6. Turn on the power to the HDMI source
devices and display.
7. Switch between source devices via the
Select pushbutton on the unit or the included remote control. You can also let the Auto Switch functionality automatically switch to ports that are powered on. When multiple ports have powered on devices connected to them, the lowest numbered port will be switched to. Once the device connected to the lowest numbered port is powered off, the next powered on port in line will be switched to.6 Troubleshooting If you are unable to get an acceptable image after following the installation instructions, try the troubleshooting tips below.
1. Is the external power supply that came
with the product connected and plugged into a working power source? For the product to function properly, the switch must be connected to and receiving power from an external power supply.
2. Was the power to the connected devices
turned off prior to installation? If not, restart them.
3. What resolution are you trying to reach?
Tripp Lite’s B119-002-UHD, B119-004-UHD and B119-005-UHD are tested to support 4K x 2K Ultra High Definition (UHD) video resolutions up to 3840 x 2160 @ 60 Hz, and 48-bit Deep Color (16 bits per channel).
4. What length HDMI cable are you using?
(See the Installation section in this manual for details on the maximum cable distance). The shorter the cable being used, the higher the resolution you will be able to obtain. (continued)7 Troubleshooting If you are not able to get an acceptable image, try using a shorter cable, or lowering your source’s video resolution or color depth settings.
5. What type of cabling are you using?
Inferior cabling can result in poor performance, so it is important that you use cables that can support the video resolution you are trying to obtain. It is recommended that you use Tripp Lite’s P569-Series High Speed HDMI cables, as they have been tested to work with the B119-002-UHD, B119-004-UHD and B119-005-UHD.
6. Test your cables to ensure they are
working properly. For example, connect your HDMI cable between a source and monitor that you know works to see if the cable is functioning.
7. Is the unit located in an area that
TRIPP LITE warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the date of initial purchase. TRIPP LITE’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at its sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center. Products must be returned to TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center with transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of date and place of purchase.
