- Do not store items of interest to children in the cabinets above a range on the backguard of the ranges. Children climbing on the range to reach items could be seriously injured.
- Do not touch surface heating units or surface cooking elements, areas near these units or elements, or interior surface of the oven. Surface heating areas and oven heating elements may be hot even though they appear cool. Areas near surface cooking units may become hot enough to cause burns. During and after use, do not touch, or let clothing or other flammable materials touch these areas until they are cool. These areas may include the cook top, surfaces facing the cook top, oven vent areas, oven door, and oven window.
- Wear proper apparel. Loose-fitting or hanging garments should never be worn while using this appliance. Do not let clothing or other flammable materials come into contact with hot surfaces.
- Do not heat unopened food containers. Build-up of pressure may cause container to burst and result in injury.
- When heating fat or grease, watch it closely. Fat or grease may catch fire if it becomes too hot.
- Do not use water or flour on grease fires. Cover the fire with a pan lid, use baking soda, or use a dry chemical or foam type extinguisher.
- Use dry potholders. Moist or damp potholders on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam. Do not let potholders touch hot cooking areas. Do not use towels or other bulky cloths.
- Air curtain or other overhead range hoods, which operate by blowing a downward air flow on to a range, shall not be used in conjunction with gas ranges other than when the hood and range have been designed, tested and listed by an independent test laboratory for use in combina- tion with each other. CAUTION6
- Never use the appliance for warming or heating the room. Doing so may result in carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Use care when opening oven door, lower oven door, or warmer drawer (some models). Stand to the side of the range when opening the door of a hot oven. Let hot air or steam escape before you remove or replace food in the oven.
- Keep oven vent ducts clear. Touching surfaces in this area when the oven is on may cause severe burns. Do not place plastic or heat-sensitive items on or near the oven vent. These items can melt or ignite.
- Always handle oven racks when the oven is cool. Place oven racks in desired positions while the oven is cool. If a rack must be moved while the oven is hot, use extreme caution. Use potholders and grasp the rack with both hands to reposition. Do not let potholders contact the hot heating elements in the oven. Remove all cookware and utensils before moving the rack.
- Do not use a broiler pan without its insert. Do not cover the broiler insert with aluminum foil; exposed fat and grease could ignite.
- Do not use aluminum foil or other protective liners to line the oven bottom. Only use aluminum foil as recommended in this manual. Improper installation of these liners may result in risk of electric shock or fire.
- Do not cook food on the oven bottom. Always cook in proper cookware and always use the oven racks.
- Know which knob controls each surface burner. Place a pan of food on the burner before turning it on, and turn the burner off before removing the pan.
- Always turn knob to the full LITE position when igniting top burners and check that burner has lit. Adjust flame so it does not extend beyond the edge of cookware.
- Utensil handles should be turned inward and not extend over adjacent surface burners.
- Never leave surface burners unattended at high heat settings — spill overs cause smoking and greasy spills that may ignite, or a pan that has boiled dry may melt.
- Glazed cooking utensils — Only certain types of cookware are suitable for cook top service without breaking due to the sudden change in tempera- ture. Check the manufacturer’s recommendations for cook top use.
- When you are flaming foods under a ventilating hood, turn the fan on. Use Proper Flame Size — Adjust flame size so it does not extend beyond the edge of the utensil. The use of undersized utensils will expose a portion of the burner flame to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing. WARNING7

The ability to heat food quicker and in larger volumes increases as the burner size increases.
- The small simmer burner is best used for simmering delicate sauces, etc. This burner is located at the right rear burner position on the cooktop.
- The standard burner can be used for most surface cooking needs. The standard burners are located at the left front and left rear positions on the cooktop.
- The power burners are best used for bringing large quantities of liquid rapidly up to temperature or when preparing larger quantities of food. The POWER burner is located at the right front position on the cooktop.
- Regardless of size, always select cookware that is suitable for the amount and type of food being prepared. Select a burner and flame size appropriate to the pan. Never allow flames to extend beyond the outer edge of the pan. Assembly of the burner caps and burner grates It is very important to make sure that all of the surface burner caps and surface burner grates are installed correctly and at the correct locations.
1. Remove all packing material from cooktop area.
2. Discard all packing material (if applicable).
3. Unpack burner grates and position on the cooktop.
On round style burners, the burner cap lip (Figure 1) should fit snug into the center of burner head and rest level. Refer to Figure 2 for correct and incorrect burner cap placement. Once in place, you may check the fit by gently sliding the burner cap from side to side (Figure 3) to be sure it is centered and firmly seated. When the burner cap lip makes contact inside the center of the burner head you will be able to hear the burner cap click. Figure 1: Burner cap and burner head Figure 2: Proper burner cap placement Figure 3: Gently move cap for proper placement Burner cap lip Burner cap Burner head Correct burner cap placement Incorrect burner cap placement
Do not allow spills, food, cleaning agents or any other material to enter the gas orifice holder opening. Always keep the burner caps and burner heads in place whenever the surface burners are in use. Please note that the burner cap should not move off the center of the burner head when sliding from side to side.
- Check and be sure that all oval style (some models) burner caps are correctly in place on oval burner heads.
- Do not use the surface burners without the burner caps and burner grates properly installed.
- Missing pieces or improper installation may lead to spills, burns, or damage to your range and cookware.
- Make sure the burner grates are properly placed on the cooktop before using the surface burners (Figure 4). The grates are designed to rest inside the recess on the cooktop.
- To install burner grates, place grates flat-side down and align into the cooktop recess.
- Grates should rest flush against each other and against the sides of the recess.
- Do not line the area underneath the grates or any part of the cooktop with aluminum foil or with any other lining.
- Never place flammable items on the cooktop. CAUTION IMPORTANT Figure 4: Proper grate installation Do not straddle cookware over two burner areas unless the cookware is specifically designed for that purpose. CAUTION10 Operating the gas surface controls1. Place cooking utensil on surface burner.2. Push the surface control knob down and turn counter-clockwise out of the OFF position.
3. Release the knob and rotate to the LITE position
(Figure 6). Note: All four electronic surface ignitors will spark at the same time. However, only the burner you are turning on will ignite.4. Visually check that the burner has a flame.5. Turn the control knob counterclockwise to the desired flame size. The control knobs do not have to be set at a particular setting. Use the knob indicator settings to adjust the flame as needed. Do not cook with the surface control knob in the LITE position. (The elec-tronic ignitor will continue to spark if the knob is left in the LITE position.)Setting proper surface burner flame sizeFor most cooking, start on the highest control setting and then turn to a lower one to complete the process. Use the recommendations below as a guide for determining proper flame size for various types of cooking. The size and type of utensil used and the amount of food being cooked will influence the setting needed. Do not place plastic items such as salt and pepper shakers, spoon holders or plastic wrappings on top of the range when it is in use. These items could melt or ignite. Pot holders, towels or wood spoons could catch fire if placed too close to a flame. Do not operate the burner for an extended period of time without cookware on the grate. The finish on the grate may chip without cookware to absorb the heat.Figure 5: Gas knob view showing OFF and Lite positions. Bottom view showing temperature settings. A higher flame wastes heat and energy, and increases the risk of being burned by the gas flame.Do not line the area underneath the grates or any part of the cooktop with aluminum foil or with any other lining. Settings based on using medium weight metal or aluminum pans. Settings may vary using other types of pans. The color of the flame is key to proper burner adjustment. A good flame is clear, blue, and hardly visible in a well-lighted room. Each cone of the flame should be steady and sharp. Clean burner if flame is yellow-orange. IncorrectCorrect CAUTION IMPORTANT
Setting Surface Controls Your gas appliance may be equipped with different sized surface burners. The ability to heat food quicker and in larger volumes increases as the burner size increases. It is important to select cookware that is suitable for the amount and type of food being prepared. The smaller simmer burner (on some models) is best suited for simmering delicate sauces, etc. The standard size burners may be used for most surface cooking needs. Some models are equipped with a center burner. The larger power burners (on some models) or TURBO BOIL burner (on some models) are recommended for bringing large quantities of liquid to temperature and when preparing larger quantities of food. Important:
- Do not cook with the surface control knob left in the Lite position. The electronic ignitor will continue to spark if the control knob setting remains in the LITE position.
- When setting any surface control knob to the LITE position, all electronic surface ignitors will spark at the same time. However, only the surface burner you are setting will ignite.
- Never place or straddle a cooking utensil over 2 different surface cooking areas at the same time. This can cause uneven heating results.
- In the event of an electrical power outage, the surface burners can be lit manually. Use caution when lighting surface burners manually. To light a surface burner, hold a lit match to the burner head, then slowly turn the surface control knob to LITE. After burner lights push in and turn knob to desired setting.
- When operating the oven, it is possible for residual heat from the oven to build-up and over time to eventually transfer to the surface control knobs located directly above the oven door. To set surface burners:
1. Place cooking utensil on center of surface burner grate.
Be sure the cooking utensil sets stable on the burner grate.
2. Push the desired surface control knob in and turn coun-
terclockwise out of the OFF position.
3. Release the surface control knob and rotate to the LITE
position. Visually check that the burner is lit.
4. Once the burner has a flame, push the control knob in
and turn counterclockwise to the desired flame size. Use the control knob markings and adjust the flame as needed. Home Canning Be sure to read and observe all the following points when home canning with your appliance. Check with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) website and be sure to read all the information they have available as well as follow recommendations for home canning procedures.
- Use only quality flat bottom canners when home canning. Use a straight-edge to check canner bottom.
- Make sure the diameter of the canner does not exceed 1 inch beyond the surface element markings or burner.
- Start with hot tap water to bring water to boil more quickly.
- Use the highest heat setting when first bringing the water to a boil. Once boiling is achieved, reduce heat to lowest possible setting to maintain that boil. Figure 7: Proper way to set burners OFF Lite
Oven vent location The oven vent is located near the back of the cooktop on the backguard and serves to vent both the upper and lower ovens. When the oven is on, warm air passes through this vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results. Steam or moisture may appear near the oven vent; this is normal. Do not block oven vent. Types of oven racks Oven Rack Descriptions• Flat oven racks (or the flat handle oven rack) may be used for most cooking needs and may be placed in most oven rack positions.• The offset oven rack (some models) provides additional step-down positions from the standard flat rack design. The offset design positions the base of the rack about 1/2 of a rack position lower than the flat rack and may be used in most oven rack positions. To maximize oven cooking space place the bottom oven rack (some models) in the lowest rack position for baking or roasting large cuts of meat. Removing, replacing, and arranging flat or offset oven racks To arrange: Always arrange the oven racks when the oven is cool (prior to operating the oven). To remove: Pull the oven rack straight forward until it reaches the stop position. Lift up front of oven rack slightly and slide out.To replace: Place the oven rack on the rack guides on both sides of oven walls. Tilt the front of oven rack upward slightly and slide the oven rack back into place. Be sure oven racks are level before usingFigure 8: Do not block oven vent locationAlways use pot holders or oven mitts when using the oven. The oven interior, exterior, oven racks and cook top can become very hot and can cause burns.Protective Liners — Do not use aluminum foil or any other material or liners to line the oven bottom, walls, racks or any other part of the range. Doing so will alter the heat distribution, produce poor baking results and may cause permanent damage to the oven interior. Only use aluminum foil as recommended in this manual. Improper installation of these liners may result in risk of electric shock or fire. During self clean temperatures the oven will be hot enough to melt foil.Remove all oven racks before starting a self clean cycle. If oven racks are left inside the oven during a cleaning cycle, the slide ability of the oven racks may be damaged and all of the oven racks will lose their shiny finish. To prevent possible damage to the oven, do not attempt to close the oven door until all the oven racks are fully posi-tioned back inside the oven cavity. OVEN CONTROLS Convection Cooking (lower oven only) Multiple rack baking may slightly increase cook time for some foods, but the overall result is time saved. Some food may cook faster and more evenly with convection bake. Convection baking uses the bake function along with the convection heating element and fan to circulate the heat evenly and continuously within the oven (See Figure 12). Benefits of convection cooking:
- Multiple rack baking.
- Some foods cook faster, saving time and energy. Convection baking tips:
- Fully preheat the oven before baking items like cookies, cakes, biscuits, and breads.
- If your recipe cooking temperature has already been converted for convection baking, there is no need to reduce your oven temperature. If not, see “Setting Convection Convert” on page 18 for further instruction on temperature conversion.
- When using any single rack, position the rack so that the food is in the center of the oven.
- When baking cakes using two oven racks place racks in positions 1 and 3 (See Figure 13).
- When baking using two oven racks, position cookware as shown in Figure 14. Allow at least 2 inches (5 cm) of space between cookware for proper air circulation.
- Dark or dull bakeware absorbs more heat than shiny bakeware. It may be necessary to reduce oven temper- ature and cook time to prevent overbrowning of some foods. Dark bakeware is recommended for pies. Shiny bakeware is recommended for cakes, cookies, and muffins.
- Most baked goods (except cakes) should be baked on pans with no sides or low sides to allow heated air to circulate around food. Setting Convection Bake This mode of cooking enables you to obtain the best results when baking with multiple pans and racks. The oven can be programmed for convection baking at any temperature between 300°F (148°C) to 550°F (288°C) with a default temperature of 350°F (176°C). To set the oven for convection bake and temperature to 375°F (190°C):
1. Arrange interior oven racks. Select lower oven.
2. Press convect. Convect and bake will flash and 350
will appear in the display. If a convection bake of 350°F is needed, press start.
3. Press 3 7 5. Convect and bake will keep flashing, and
375° will appear in the display.
4. Press start. The convection fan will begin rotating about
6 minutes after oven starts heating. A beep will sound once the oven temperature reaches 375°F. The display will show 375°, CONVECT, BAKE, and the fan icon.
5. Place food in oven.
Figure 12: Air circulation in convection function Figure 13: Rack positions Figure 14: Pan spacing The convection fan and fan icon will start after the oven has heated for 6 minutes. The display will show an icon of rotating fan within a square, indicating the convection fan is operating. The bake and convection elements will also cycle for a better heat distribution. Do not open oven door often. Doing so will reduce oven temperature and extend cooking time.
NOTE18 OVEN CONTROLS Setting Convection Convert Convection convert automatically converts a standard baking recipe for convection baking. When set properly, this feature is designed to display the actual converted (reduced) temperature in the display. Convection convert may only be used with a convection bake cooking mode. It can be used with a delay start and bake time. For delay start instructions or bake time instructions, see page 19. If convection conversion is used with the bake time and delay start features, CF (check food) will be displayed when 75% of the bake time is complete. At this time the oven control will sound three long beeps at regular intervals until baking time is finished. The control will display End and continue to beep at regular intervals until off is pressed. To set the oven for convection bake with a standard baking recipe temperature of 400°F (204°C):
1. Arrange interior oven racks. Select lower oven.
2. Press convect. Convect and bake will flash and 350
will appear in the display.

400° will appear in the display.
5. Set bake time or delay start if needed. For delay start
and bake time instructions, see page 19.
7. Place food in the oven.
Setting Convection Roast This mode is best for cooking tender cuts of beef, lamb, pork, and poultry. Convection roasting gently browns the exterior and seals in the juices using the bake function, convection element, and fan to circulate the heat evenly and continuously within the oven. The oven can be programmed for convection roasting at any temperature between 300°F (148°C) to 550°F (288°C) with a default temperature of 350°F (176°C). Convection roasting tips:
- Use a broiler pan and insert, as well as a roasting rack (available online at frigidaire.com). The broiler pan will catch grease drippings, and the grid will help prevent spatters. The roasting rack will hold the meat. It’s not recommended to roast chicken on a roasting rack. Use a deep pan instead.
- Place the offset rack on position 1. Make sure the roasting rack is securely seated on the grid in the broiler pan. Do not use the broiler pan without the insert. Do not cover the insert with aluminum foil.
- Pull the rack out to the stop position before removing food. Position food (fat side up) on the roasting rack. No preheat is needed in convection roast. To set a convection roast temperature of 375°F (190°C):
1. Arrange oven racks and place food in lower oven.
2. Select lower oven.
3. Press convect; Convect and bake will flash.
4. Press convect again. Convect and roast will flash.
5. Enter 3 7 5 using the number keys.
6. Press start. Convect, roast, and the fan icon will be
displayed. When using a bake time under 20 minutes, the convec- tion convert will display the CF message with no beeps. Pressing off will stop the feature at any time. NOTE Should an oven fire occur, close oven door and turn off the oven. If the fire continues, throw baking soda on the fire or use a fire extinguisher. Do not put water or flour on the fire. Flour may be explosive, and water can cause a grease fire to spread and cause personal injury
WARNING19 OVEN CONTROLS Setting Bake Time Use bake time when setting the oven to cook for a specific length of time and shut off automatically when the time is complete. When cooking time ends, the oven will shut off and will beep. This feature can be used with bake, convec- tion bake, convection roast, and slow cook modes. Baking time can be set for any time between 1 minute to 5 hrs and 59 minutes. The time remaining can be shown in the timer section of the display by pressing bake time at any moment of the cooking. To cancel the bake time but keep the oven baking at the set temperature, press bake time and enter 0, then press start. This will allow the oven to continue baking until canceled by pressing off. A beep will sound when the oven temperature reaches the set temperature. NOTE Food Poisoning Hazard. Do not let food sit for more than one hour before or after cooking. Doing so can result in food poisoning or sickness. Foods that can easily spoil such as milk, eggs, fish, meat, or poultry should be chilled in the refrigerator first. Even when chilled, they should not stand in the oven for more than 1 hour before cooking begins and should be removed promptly when finished cooking. CAUTION20 OVEN CONTROLS Setting Broil (upper oven only) Broil is best for cooking meats, fish and poultry up to 1” thick by direct heat. The broil key controls the broil feature in the upper oven only. The oven can be programmed to broil at any temperature from 400°F(204°C) to 550°F (288°C) with a default temperature of 550°F. Broiling tips:
- Broil foods with oven door closed.
- For optimum browning, preheat broil for 2 minutes. . To set a broil:
1. Place the broiler pan insert on the broiler pan and place
the food on the broiler pan insert. Do not use the broiler pan without the insert. The exposed grease could ignite.
2. Arrange the interior oven rack and place the broiler pan
on the rack. Center the broiler pan directly under the broiler element.

in the display. Preheat for 2 minutes before broiling.
5. Broil food (with oven door closed) on first side until food
is browned; turn and cook on the second side. Always pull the rack out to the stop position before turning or removing food. Broiling is direct heat cooking and will produce smoke. If smoke is excessive, place food further away from direct heat.
6. To stop broiling, press off.
Note: If a broiler pan and insert (shown here) are not supplied with this appliance, they may be purchased at frigidaire.com. Always wear oven mitts when broiling. Should an oven fire occur, close the oven door and turn the oven off. If the fire continues, throw baking soda on the fire or use a fire extinguisher. Do not put water or flour on the fire. Flour may be explosive. The broiler pan and the insert (some models) allow grease to drain and be kept away from the high heat of the broiler. Do not use the pan without the insert. Do not cover the insert with aluminum foil; the exposed grease could ignite. Figure 15: Upper oven rack positions WARNING Upper Oven

For well done 170°F (77ºC)21 OVEN CONTROLS Cooking with Meat Probe (lower oven) Use the probe feature for best results when cooking foods such as roasts, hams, or poultry. For meats like poultry and roasts, using a probe to check internal temperature is the safest method to ensure properly cooked food. The probe feature, when set correctly, will signal an alert when the internal food temperature reaches the set target temperature. When active, the probe displays the internal food tempera- ture which is visible in the display during the cooking process. This eliminates any guesswork or the need to open the oven door to check the thermometer. Proper placement of probe in food.
- Insert the probe so that the probe tip rests inside the center of the thickest part of meat or food (See Figure 16). For best results, do not allow the probe temperature sensor to contact bone, fat, gristle, or the cookware.
- For bone-in ham or lamb, insert the probe into the center of lowest large muscle or joint.
- For meat loaf or casseroles, insert the probe into center of food.
- When cooking fish, insert meat probe just above the gill.
- For whole poultry or turkey, fully insert the probe sensor into the thickest part the breast (See Figure 16). To set probe:
1. Insert the probe into the food. Place prepared food on
the desired oven rack position and slide into the oven.
2. Plug the connector end of the probe all the way into the
probe receptacle while the oven is still cool. The recep- tacle is located on the upper left front oven cavity wall.
3. When the probe is set, an acceptance tone will sound,
the probe icon will illuminate, and the actual probe temperature appears in the display (See Figure 17). Close the oven door
4. Select lower oven. Press probe key once. Enter the
desired target food temperature using the numeric keys and set temperature for food type. The minimum setting is 140ºF (60ºC); the maximum is 210ºF (99ºC). Default is 170ºF (77ºC).
5. Press start to accept the target temperature.
6. Set for quick preheat, bake, convect bake, or
convect roast, and if necessary adjust the oven temperature accordingly. Do not use kitchen utensils to pull on the probe cable or handles. Always insert and remove the probe using the provided handles, as shown in Figure 16, and always use a pot holder to protect hands from possible burns.
- Do not store the probe inside the oven. Use only the original probe provided. Connecting any other probe or device could result in damage to the oven control, electronics, and the receptacle.
- Before starting self clean, check that the probe is removed from the oven interior.
- Defrost frozen foods completely before inserting the probe. CAUTION IMPORTANT Figure 16: Probe in thickest area of food Figure 17: Probe set showing probe temperature Insertprobe tipto center of food22 OVEN CONTROLS Probe (cont’d)

All other features will not function once the Sabbath feature is properly activated. The display will not show temperature changes or sound any audible tones when the oven is set with the Sabbath feature Food Poisoning Hazard. Do not let food sit for more than one hour before or after cooking. Doing so can result in food poisoning or sickness. IMPORTANT NOTE CAUTION25 OVEN CONTROLS Adjusting Oven Temperature (UPO) The temperature in the oven is pre-set at the factory. When first using the oven, be sure to follow recipe times and temperatures. If you think the oven is cooking too hot or too cool for the temperature you select, you can adjust the actual oven temperature to be more or less than what is displayed. Before adjusting the UPO (User Programmable Offset), test a recipe by using a temperature setting higher or lower than the recommended temperature. The baking results should help you to decide how much of an adjust- ment is needed. Note: Do not use thermometers such as those found in grocery stores to check the temperature settings inside the oven. These thermometers may display temperatures that vary between 20 and 40 degrees from the actual tempera- ture. To adjust the oven temperature higher:
1. Press and hold bake key for 6 seconds. UPO 0 will
appear in the display.
2. To increase the temperature, use the number keys to
enter the desired change. For example, for 30°F, press 3 0. The temperature may be increased as much as 35°F (19°C).
3. Press start to accept the temperature change and the
display will return to the time of day. Press off to reject the change if necessary. To adjust the oven temperature lower:

display will return to the time of day. Press off to reject the change if necessary. Restoring Factory Control Settings Your appliance was built with predetermined oven control settings (default). Over time, users may make changes to these settings. The following options have settings that can be modified and may have been changed since the appliance was new:
- 12 or 24 hour display mode
- Continuous bake or 6 Hour Energy Savings mode
- Oven temperature adjustments (offsets) Note: If you choose to restore factory default settings, all of the above user preferences will be restored to their original settings (factory default). To restore oven control to factory default settings:
1. Press and hold 7 until the acceptance tone sounds
2. Press start. The control is now reset to default settings.
The UPO can be changed for each oven cavity indepen- dently. The oven temperature adjustments made with this feature will not change the self clean temperature or the broil temperature. The oven temperature adjustments are permanent and will stay forever in the unit memory unless you manually change it again. Even a power outage will not reset these changes. Follow the same procedure again if you wish to change it to a different setting. NOTE26 OVEN CONTROLS Self Cleaning Operation A self cleaning oven cleans itself with high temperatures (well above normal cooking temperatures) which eliminate soils completely or reduces them to a fine powdered ash you can wipe away with a damp cloth. What to expect during self cleaning While in self clean mode, the oven heats to temperatures much higher than those used in normal cooking. Sounds of metal expansion and contraction are normal. Odors are normal as the food soil is being removed. Smoke may appear through the oven vent. If heavy spills are not wiped up before cleaning, they may flame and cause more smoke and odor than usual. This is normal and safe and should not cause alarm. If available, use an exhaust fan during the self cleaning cycle.
- Do not line the oven walls, racks, bottom, or any other part of the oven with aluminum foil, oven liners, or any other materials. Doing so will block heat distribution, produce poor baking results, and cause permanent damage to the oven interior (aluminum foil will melt to the interior surface of the oven).
- The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the self cleaning cycle of any oven. Move birds to another well-ventilated room.
- During the self cleaning cycle, the outside of the oven can become very hot to the touch. Do not leave small children unattended near the appliance.
- Do not force the oven door open. This can damage the automatic door locking system.
- Use caution when opening the door after the self- cleaning cycle is completed. The oven may still be very hot. Stand to the side of the oven door when opening the door to allow hot air or steam to escape. Figure 20: Clean around the oven door gasket WARNING Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:
- Do not use oven cleaners or protective coatings in or around any part of the oven interior. Do not clean the oven door gasket. Take care not to rub, damage, or remove the gasket or use any cleaning substances on the oven door gasket (See Figure 20). Doing so could cause damage and reduce the efficiency of the oven’s performance.
- Remove all items from the cooktop and oven including cookware, utensils and any aluminum foil. Aluminum foil will not withstand the high heat of self clean.
- Clean any soil from the oven frame, door liner outside the oven door gasket, and the small area at the front center of the oven bottom with soap and water (See Figure 20). These areas heat sufficiently to burn soil on.
- Remove any excessive spills from the oven cavity before starting the self cleaning cycle. To clean, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Large spills can cause heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high tempera- tures. Do not allow food spills with a high sugar or acid content (such as milk, tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit juices, or pie filling) to remain on the surface as they may leave a dull spot even after cleaning.
- Completely remove all oven racks and accessories. If oven racks are not removed before a self clean, they will lose their special coating and will no longer slide in and out of the oven cavity effortlessly.
- Oven racks accidentally left in the oven during self clean may be wiped down after cooling with a high- temperature cooking oil to lubricate them. WARNING27 OVEN CONTROLS Setting Self Clean Cycle Duration The self clean key controls the self cleaning feature. If you are planning to use the oven directly after a self clean cycle remember to allow time for the oven to cool down and the oven door to unlock. This normally takes about one hour. A 3 hour self clean cycle will actually take about 4 hours to complete. It is recommended to use a 2 hour self clean cycle for light soils, a 3 hour cycle for average soils, and a 4 hour cycle for heavy soils. To set the controls for a 3 hour self cleaning cycle to start immediately and shut off automatically:
1. Be sure the clock is set with the correct time of day and

Remove spills and any heavy soiling as soon as possible. Regular cleaning will reduce the number of major cleaning later. Surface Type Recommendation Aluminum and Vinyl Use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Dry with a clean cloth. Painted and plastic control knobs Painted body parts Painted decorative trims Using a soft cloth, clean with mild dish detergent and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Follow by rinsing the area with clean water; dry and polish with a soft cloth. Glass cleaners may be used if sprayed on a soft cloth first. Do not spray liquids directly on the oven control and display area. Do not use large amounts of water on the control panel - excess water on the control area may cause damage to the appliance. Do not use other liquid cleaners, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or paper towels - they will damage the finish. Control knobs To remove control knobs, turn to the OFF position; grasp firmly and pull straight off the shaft. To replace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sides of both the knob and the shaft; then push the knob into place. Stainless Steel Smudge Proof™ Stainless Steel (some models) Your oven finish may be made with stainless steel (some models). Clean the stainless with warm soapy water using a clean sponge or cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft clean cloth. Do not use any store bought cleaners like stainless steel cleaners or any other types of cleaners containing any abrasive, chlorides, chlorine, or ammonia. It is recom- mended to use mild dish soap and water or a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar. Porcelain enamel broiler pan and insert (available by mail order) Door liner and body parts Gentle scouring with a soapy scouring pad will remove most spots. Rinse with a 1:1 solution of clear water and ammonia. If necessary, cover difficult spots with an ammonia-soaked paper towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinse with clean water and a damp cloth, and then scrub with a soap-filled scouring pad. Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Remove all cleaners or the porcelain may become damaged during future heating. Oven racks Oven racks must be removed from oven cavity. Clean by using a mild, abrasive cleaner following manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse with clean water and dry. Oven door Use soap and water to thoroughly clean the top, sides, and front of the oven door. Rinse well. You may use a glass cleaner on the outside glass of the door. Do not immerse the door in water. Do not spray or allow water or the glass cleaner to enter the door vents. Do not use oven cleaners, cleaning powders, or any harsh abrasive cleaning materials on the outside of the oven door. Do not clean the oven door gasket on the oven cavity. On self-clean models, the oven door gasket is made of a woven material which is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage, or remove this gasket. Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners To avoid possible burns turn off all of the surface burners and allow them to cool. Any additions, changes or conver- sions required in order for this appliance to satisfactorily meet the application needs must be made by an authorized qualified agency. Routinely clean the cooktop. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth and wipe dry to avoid scratches. Keeping the surface burner head ports and slots clean will prevent improper ignition and an uneven flame. To clean recessed and contoured areas of cooktop If a spill occurs on or in the recessed or contoured areas, blot up spill with an absorbent cloth. Rinse with a clean, damp cloth and wipe dry. To clean burner grates
- Clean when the grates are cool. Use nonabrasive plastic scrubbing pad and mild abrasive cleanser.
- Food soils containing acids may affect the finish. Clean immediately after the grates are cool. Thoroughly dry grates immediately following cleaning. To clean burner caps
- Remove caps from burner heads after they have cooled. Clean heavy soils with a plastic scrubbing pad and absorbent cloth. Thoroughly dry burner caps imme- diately following cleaning including the bottom and inside of cap.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not clean burner caps in the dishwasher. Do not operate surface burners without burner caps properly in place. To clean the surface burner heads For proper gas flow it may be necessary to clean the burner head and slots. First use a clean damp cloth to soak up any spills. Remove any food from between the burner slots using a small nonabrasive brush like a toothbrush and wipe up using a damp cloth. For stubborn soils located in the slots, use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean. The electrode must be carefully cleaned. Take care not to hit the electrode with any thing hard or it could be damaged. To clean the burner head ignition ports Each burner head has a small ignition port (Figure 25). Should you experience ignition problems it may be that this port hole is partially blocked with soil. With the burner head in place, use a small wire gauge needle or the end of paper clip to clear the ignition port. Replacing the oven light The interior oven lights are located at the rear of the oven cavity and are covered with a glass shield. To replace the oven interior light bulb:
1. Turn electrical power off at the main source or unplug
2. Remove interior oven light shield by turning a quarter
turn in upper oven, and by removing shield in lower oven as shown below.
3. Replace with a new T-4 type Halogen 40 watt appliance
bulb in lower cavity and a 25 watt incandescent bulb in the upper cavity.
4. Replace glass oven light shield.
5. Turn power back on again at the main source (or plug
the appliance back in).
6. Be sure to reset the time of day on the clock.
Figure 25: Gas burner head parts Be sure the oven is unplugged and all parts are cool before replacing oven light. Do not allow your fingers to touch the new halogen bulb when replacing.
