Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance.
You have clearly decided in favour of a high-quality product. These operating instructions are a part of this product. They contain important information in regard to safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of these operating and safety instructions. Use this appliance only as described and only for the specified areas of application. In addition, pass these operating instructions on to whoever might acquire the appliance at a future date.

Intended use
This Hair Straightener is intended for the smoothing of human hair, under no circumstances may it to be used for wigs and hairpieces made of synthetic material. This appliance is intended for domestic use only. Pay heed to all of the information in this operating manual, especially the safety instructions. This appliance is not intended for commercial applications.
This appliance is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those detailed. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability.
Safety instructions

RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Connect the appliance only to mains power sockets supplying a mains power voltage of 220 - 240V /50Hz
The power cable on this appliance cannot be replaced. In the event of it being damaged the whole appliance must be disposed of.
In the event of operating malfunctions, and before cleaning the appliance, disconnect the plug from the mains power socket.
- To disconnect the power cable, always pull the plug from the socket, do not pull the power cable itself.
- Do not crimp or crush the power cable and lay it in such a way as to prevent anyone from stepping on or tripping over it.
- Ensure that the power cable does not become wet or moist during use. Place it such that it cannot be crushed or damaged.
- Should the appliance, the power cable or the plug become damaged, to avoid personal risks arrange for it/them to be repaired by Customer Services.
Do not use the appliance outdoors.
- Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance and protect it from being damaged. Under no circumstances may the appliance be submerged in fluids or fluids be allowed to permeate the housing. Do not expose the appliance to humidity and do not use it outdoors. Should liquids enter the housing, disconnect the appliance from the mains power socket immediately and arrange for it to be repaired by a qualified technician.
- Do not crimp or crush the power cable and place it in such a way as to prevent anyone from stepping on or tripping over it.
To enable you to disconnect the appliance quickly in the event of an emergency, do not use extension cables.
NEVER grasp the appliance, the power cable or the plug with wet hands.
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains power source immediately after use. The appliance is completely free of electrical power ONLY when unplugged.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK

Never use the appliance near water, particularly not near sinks, baths or other vessels. The proximity of water presents a risk, even when the appliance is switched off. After use, always disconnect the plug from the mains power socket. As additional protection, the installation of a faulty-current protection unit with an activation power rating of not more than 30mA is recommended for the power circuit in the bathroom. Ask your electrician for advice.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
NEVER leave a switched on appliance unsupervised.
- Do not place the appliance close to sources of heat and protect the power cable against damage.
- Do not operate the appliance if it has sustained a fall or is damaged in any way. Arrange for the appliance to be checked and/or repaired by qualified technicians.
- Do not open the housing or attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Should you do so, the safety concept can no longer be assured and the warranty becomes void. Permit only authorised technicians to repair a defective appliance if repairs should be necessary.
The appliance becomes hot during use. Hold it only by the grip when it is hot.
This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- Operating instructions
1) Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions from the carton.
2) Remove all packing material.
3) Clean all parts of the appliance as described in the section "Cleaning".
NOTICE
- Check the contents to ensure that everything is present and for signs of visible damage.
If the contents are not complete or are damaged due to defective packaging or through transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see chapter "Service").
Disposal of the packaging
The packaging protects the appliance against transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable.

The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves raw material and reduces the amount of waste generated. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed as per the regionally established regulations.
NOTICE
If possible preserve the appliance's original packaging during the warranty period so that, in the event of a warranty claim, you can package the appliance ideally for its return.

Before straightening
The hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products. Excepted are the special products that support a straightening of the hair.
Comb the hair thoroughly before straightening so that there are no knots in it.
Operation
Preparation
NOTICE
The hotplates must be free from contamination of all kinds. If necessary, clean them before taking them into use (see chapter "Cleaning").
The appliance is locked, the locking device 4 is pressed in on the side 1.
1) Insert the plug into a mains power socket.
2) Press and hold the On/Off button ③ until the display ① is illuminated. The display ① shows the programmed temperature. The colour of the display ① indicates whether the temperature has already been reached:
red: the temperature has not yet been reached.
blue: the programmed temperature has been reached.
3) Select the appropriate temperature for your hair:
- 130 - 140^ , minimum heat level, for very fine hair.
- 140 - 160^ , low heat level, for fine hair.
160 - 180°C, medium heat level, for normal hair.
180°C MAX, highest heat level, for thick or difficult to shape hair.
Press the temperature button 2 on the side marked "+" to increase the temperature. Press the temperature button 2 on the side marked "-" to reduce the temperature.
4) As soon as the display ① colours itself blue, the programmed temperature has been reached.
5) Press the hot plates together and, at the same time, press the locking device on the side in. The hair straightener can now be opened.
NOTICE
This appliance has a memory function. This means that, every time the appliance is switched on, the temperature set at the last use is the start temperature.
Straightening hair
NOTICE
This Hair Straightener is equipped with an ionising function. The ionisation function ensures that a static charging of the hair is neutralised and cancelled. The hair becomes soft, supple, shiny and easier to style. The ionisation function is activated automatically when you use the Hair Straightener.
1) Prepare the hair as described in "Before straightening".
2) Start with the lower hair segments at the back of the head. Work over the sides to the front: Separate a 2 cm wide strand of hair and then hold the end firmly between the index and middle fingers of the hand with which you are not guiding the Hair Straightener.
WARNING! RISK OF INJURY!
- Ensure that the hotplates do not make contact with the skin of the head. Risk of Burns! During operation, you may only take hold of the appliance by the handle! Risk of Burns!
3) Clamp the hair strand between the hotplates close to the skin and then press them together.
4) Pull the whole strand of hair through the heating plates by pulling the straightener down quickly from the roots to the tips.
5) Repeat the process with each individual strand.
6) When you have smoothed all of the strands, press and hold the On/Off button 3 until the display lighting 1 switches off. OFF appears in the display 1 and the indicator HOT flashes until the appliance has cooled down.
7) Remove the plug from the mains power socket. All display indicators are extinguished.
8) Press the hot plates together and then press the locking device on the side in.
Safety switch off
This appliance is equipped with a safety switch off.
After about 30 minutes without activation of a button, the appliance will switch off automatically. After about 25 minutes, the display ① begins to blink alternatively red and blue, to remind you of the automatic switch off. If the display has switched itself off after 30 minutes, the display indicates "Auto Off" and "hot".
If you wish to use the appliance for more than 30 minutes, before the 30 minutes have lapsed press any button. The 30 minute period then starts over again.
NOTICE
The safety switch-off does not replace manual switching off with the On/Off button 1! It serves only for your safety, if the routine switching off is forgotten!
Cleaning
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK
Always remove the plug from the mains power socket before you clean the appliance.
Under no circumstances may you immerse the appliance in water or other liquids when cleaning it!
WARNING - RISK OF PHYSICAL INJURY!
Allow the appliance to cool sufficiently before cleaning it.
CAUTION - PROPERTY DAMAGE!
Do not use any aggressive cleaning liquids or solvents. They could damage the surface.
1) Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth.
2) For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent on the cloth. Ensure that you remove detergent residues with a cloth moistened with water.
3) Allow the appliance to dry completely before resusing it.
Storage
- When the appliance is cooling down, always place it on a heat-resistant surface or hang the appliance up by the suspension loop.
If you do not intend to use the appliance for some time:
Clean the appliance as described in the section "Cleaning".
Press the hot plates together and then press the locking device on the side in.
Store the appliance at a clean and dry location.
Troubleshooting

Disposal of the appliance

Do not dispose of this appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the provisions of European Directive 2002/96/EC.
Dispos of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Pay heed to the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre.
Notes on the EU Declaration of Conformity
This appliance complies, in regards to conformance with basic requirements and other relevant regulations, with the EMV Directive 2004/108/EC, as well as the Directive for Low Voltage Devices 2006/95/EC.

Warranty
The warranty for this appliance is for 3 years from the date of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our Customer Service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
NOTICE
The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, it is not applicable for transport damages, parts subject to wear and tear or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches.
This appliance is intended solely for private domestic use, not for commercial applications. If this product has been subjected to improper or inappropriate handling, abuse, or modifications not carried out by one of our authorised service centres, the warranty will be considered void.
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty.
This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Damages and defects extant at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, resp. no later than two days after the date of purchase.
Repairs made after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.
