How to use the Soleil BY323A10 kettle?

Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (between min and max). Place it on its base, plug it in and press the on/off button. If your model is equipped with a temperature selector, choose the desired temperature. The kettle automatically stops at boiling or at the selected temperature. You can also stop it manually.

What to do if the kettle does not turn on?

First check that the kettle is properly plugged into a power outlet. If it has run dry, the dry boil protection has been triggered: let it cool for 15 minutes, then fill with water and try again. If the problem persists, contact an approved service center.

How to clean the kettle?

Unplug it and let it cool. Clean the exterior with a damp sponge. Never immerse the kettle, its base or the cord in water. The removable scale filter can be cleaned under water or with a soft brush.

How to descale the kettle?

Descale at least once a month. Use white vinegar at 8% (fill the kettle, let it sit for 1 hour cold) or citric acid (25 g in 1.5 L of boiling water, let it sit for 15 min). Rinse thoroughly afterwards. Never use other methods.

Why does the water taste like plastic?

This taste may appear during the first uses. It is recommended to discard the water from the first two or three uses. Also make sure the filter is clean and the kettle has been properly rinsed after descaling.

Is the kettle safe for children?

The kettle should not be used by children under 8 years old without supervision. The cord and kettle should be kept out of reach of children. The surface gets hot, only touch the handle.

Can I heat anything other than water?

No, this kettle is designed only for heating potable water. Never put milk, soup or other liquids, as this could damage the appliance and void the warranty.

How to adjust the temperature if my model has a selector?

Select the desired position on the selector: position for boiling water or position for ideal immediate drinking temperature. If you quickly switch from one position to another, the kettle resets; you can add cold water to speed up heating.

What to do if the kettle leaks?

If the kettle leaks, stop using it immediately. Check that the lid is properly closed. If it has been dropped, it may be damaged. In that case, do not use it anymore and contact an approved service center.

Where can I find spare parts?

Spare parts (scale filter, base, cable) can be obtained from Moulinex after-sales service or from approved centers. Only use original parts.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all of the various packaging, stickers or accessories from both the inside and outside of the kettle.
2. Adjust the length of the cord by winding it under the base. Wedge the cord into the notch. (fig 1)

Throw away the water from the first two/three uses as it may contain dust. Rinse the kettle and the filter separately. USE

2. Never fill the kettle when it is on its base.
3. Do not fill it above the maximum level, or below the minimum level. If the kettle is too full, boiling water may spill out.
4. Do not use without water.
5. Check that the lid is closed properly before use.
6. POSITION THE KETTLE ON ITS BASE. PLUG IT INTO THE MAINS SOCKET.

4. TO START THE KETTLE

Press the on/off button positioned on the top or the bottom of the handle according to the model. (fig 8)

5. FOR KETTLES THAT FEATURE A TEMPERATURE SWITCH

if you move quickly from position to position after heating the water, the kettle has to reinitialise. If you think that this is taking a long time, you can add cold water to speed up the start of heating.

6. THE KETTLE MAY HAVE AN INTERNAL LIGHT, DEPENDING ON MODEL

7. THE KETTLE WILL SWITCH OFF AUTOMATICALLY

as soon as the water reaches boiling point or the chosen temperature. You can stop it manually, before removing it from its base to pour the water. Depending on the model, the interior light and the indicator light will go out when the water reaches boiling point. Make sure that the on/off button is in the off position after boiling and that the kettle has switched off before removing it from its base.

• Do not leave water in the kettle after use as this quickens the formation of scale.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR KETTLE

Unplug it.

Let it cool down and clean it with a damp sponge.

• Never immerse the kettle, its base, the cord or the electric plug in water: the electrical connections or the switch must not come into contact with water.
• Do not use scouring pads.

CLEANING THE FILTER (ACCORDING TO THE MODEL) (fig 9)

The removable filter consists of a mesh to retain the particles of scale and prevent them falling into your cup when pouring. This filter neither treats nor removes the hardness of the water. It thus conserves all the qualities of the water. With very hard water, the filter can clog very quickly (10 to 15 uses). It is important to clean it regularly. If it is wet, put it under a running tap, if dry, then brush it gently. Sometimes the scale will not detach itself; it will then need descending.

DE-SCALING

De-scale regularly, preferably at least once a month or more frequently if your water is very hard.

• Using white vinegar: Fill the kettle with 12 of vinegar. Leave to stand for 1 hour without heating.
• Using citric acid: Boil 12 of water. Add 25 g of citric acid and leave to stand for 15 min.
• Using a de-scaler specifically for plastic kettles: follow the manufacturer's instructions.
• Empty your kettle and rinse 5 or 6 times. Repeat if necessary.

To de-scale your filter (according to model):

Soak the filter in white vinegar or diluted citric acid.
- Never use a de-scaling method other than that recommended.

IN THE EVENT OF PROBLEMS

THERE IS NO EVIDENT DAMAGE TO YOUR KETTLE

• The kettle does not work or stops before coming to the boil

• Check that your kettle is properly connected.

• The kettle has been switched on without water or an accumulation of scale has caused the overheat cut-out to operate: allow the kettle to cool and fill it with water. Descale first if scale has accumulated.

Switch it on: the kettle should start working again after about 15 minutes.

If an accident does occur, run cold water over the scald immediately and call a doctor if necessary.
