USER MANUAL EK 15 Heller

Dear customer, We congratulate you for having chosen our product. Please read the following information carefully before using the appliance for the first time for your own safety and to ensure correct use. Safety information The appliance must only be used as described in the instructions for use. Use for any other purpose is inadmissible! Any damage attributed to incorrect operation, improper use or non-observance of the safety information will invalidate all liability and the warranty!

Only connect the appliance to a.c. mains as specified on the rating plate!

Do not use the device with a damaged plug, power cord or housing, or after a mal function or if it has been dropped or suffered any kind of damage.

This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised.

Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

Do not operate the appliance with an extension-cord or an interposed time switch clock or with other means

which switch the device automatically on or off as this can cause overheating and fire.

During usage, your hob gets warm and the hotplate gets hot. Therefore it is dangerous to touch the hob or the hot plate. Attention! The hob and the hotplate cool down only gradually.

The mains cable must not be permitted to touch any part of the appliance and must be kept out of the reach of children. Also the electrical cables from other appliances may not touch the cooker or hot plates.

Never operate or touch the appliance with wet hands! Danger to life!

Do not store or use any flammable materials or sprays in the vicinity of the appliance! Fire hazard!

Do not use the appliance in flammable atmospheres (e.g. in the vicinity of combustible gases or sprays cans)! Explosion and fire hazard!

Never place the appliance directly under a wall socket!

Do not immerse this appliance in water! Danger to life!

Do not attempt to move hotplate until completely cooled down nor whilst pan(s) are stood on them.

Ensure pans are situated centrally on the hotplate(s) and pan handles are safety positioned.11

Care must be taken when using oil or fat for Cooking. Do ensure overheating does not occur, by maintaining close supervision at all times. Never use the cooker without supervision. The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision! The socket-outlet must be accessible at all times to enable the mains plug to be disconnected as quickly as possible! Never use the appliance if the appliance or cord is damaged. Risk of injury! If the power cord is damaged or if the appliance is damaged to the extent that electrical parts are exposed, immediately disconnected from the supply and refer to the store from where the appliance was purchased. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. Improper repairs can expose the user to considerable danger.

  • Never use the cooker for heating the room! • The hotplate is determined only for household use in order to prepare by food. Every other use is inadmissibly. This device is not intended for commercial use. Do not use the device outdoors.

These instructions for use belong to the appliance and must be kept in a safe place. When changing owners, these instructions must be surrendered to the new owner! After each use or if you do not need the appliance for longer time, before every cleaning and care as well as by disturbances during the operation the appliance must disconnect in any case from the power socket. Always unplug the appliance when not in use. Pay attention to the security of your children and keep away all packaging parts (plastic bag, cardboard, styropor etc.) from them. Packaging After unpacking the appliance, check the same for transport damage and the contents for completeness! In the event of damage or an incomplete delivery, contact your authorised retailer! Do not discard the original box! It can be used for storage and dispatch to avoid transport damage. Location The appliance should be placed with a minimum distance of 50 cm from flammable objects, walls or structures! Fire hazard! Choose a position convenient to an electrical socket but away from sources of water. The work surface must be heat resistant, stable, clean, dry and approximately 75 cm high. The button has to be straight as shown above and the width has to be in13 accordance with the width of the hotplate. Too small pans can cause the hob to deform.

A gap of at least 5 cm must be left around the sides of the appliance, since the sides of the appliance may become hot during use.

Do ensure this appliance is positioned away from the edge of work surfaces and out of the reach of children and people insensitive to heat.

This appliance must not be positioned beneath cupboards. Connection to the mains supply First check that the voltage marked on the product corresponds with your supply voltage. The socket must have for double cooker 16 Amp. and for single-cooker 10 Amp. Usage

Having suitable positioned the appliance (refer to section Location) ensure the control is in the OFF position (“0”facing upwards) – plug in and if necessary knob on the power supply.

When using the hotplates for the first time, the invisible protective coating must be removed. To do this, set the controls to the maximum setting (MAX) and leave switched on for approximately 5 minutes without pot on the cooker. It is important to ensure the room is well ventilated during this period.

Knob off the hotplate(s) and allow cooling down completely.

The hotplate(s) are now ready for use.

A thermostat commands your hob. When the button is turned on by lighting a signal lamp. It shows that the hob has energy. When the hob reaches the required temperature, thermostat shuts down the energy and the lamp is no more illuminated. When the thermostat operates again, the lamp is again lightened.

Always use flat-bottomed saucepans which make good contact with the hotplate(s). The saucepan bases should be of a similar size to the hotplate(s).

The hotplate(s) have a range of temperature-use the lower heat settings for simmering and gentle heating and the high setting for boiling.

Due to the hotplate(s) construction, a certain amount of residual heat will remain after switching off. This may be used to keep some foods warm for a short period.

Position MIN: The plate does not work to minus 20 degrees. After each use switch off the hot plates and unplug the cooker from the electrical socket. Attention! The cooker is only switched off completely if the appliance is disconnected from the power supply system. Cleaning

  • First switch off the appliance, connect the mains plug from the socket, let the appliance cool off.
  • For safety reasons do not sink your hob into water and do not contact with much water! Keep it dry! Danger to life!
  • All the surfaces may be cleaned simply by wiping over with a soft, damp cloth. For hard stains, we recommend using a non-scratch cream cleanser. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or caustic cleaning agents. The steel surround the hotplate may be cleaned using a metal cleaning agent.
  • Food substances must be removed from the hotplate whilst it is still warm.
  • The hotplate should have a cleaner / protector applied every month.
