Frequently Asked Questions - CareStyle 3 Pro IS 3155 BRAUN

Why does water drip from the soleplate holes?
This is due to condensation in the tubes. Press the steam activation button several times away from the ironing board to remove cold water.
What to do if brown liquid comes out of the soleplate?
Never use additives or softeners in the tank. Clean the soleplate with a damp cloth and rinse the boiler.
Why does smoke or smell appear on first use?
This is normal: a protective coating evaporates. It will stop after a few uses. If it persists, contact Braun customer service.
How to descale the steam station?
The descaling icon flashes after 15 L of water. Turn off and unplug the device, empty the tank, unscrew the cleaning valve, rinse with 500 ml of tap water, then repeat. Reset by pressing the descaling button for 2 seconds.
The iron does not produce steam even though the steam icon is on.
Check that the tank is properly positioned and that the float is not blocked. Turn off, remove and rinse the tank, then refill it.
How to lock the iron for storage?
Place the soleplate in the iron rest, press the tip until it clicks. To unlock, slide the locking system forward.
What does auto-off mean?
After 10 minutes without steam emission, the iron turns off to save energy. Press the on/off button to turn it back on.
Can I use distilled water alone?
No, only use tap water or a mixture of 50% tap water / 50% distilled water if the water is very hard. Distilled water alone can damage the appliance.
Is intermittent noise normal?
Yes, intermittent noise accompanied by vibrations is normal when pumping water into the boiler. No action is needed.
How to clean the soleplate?
Use a damp or dry cloth. Never use a scouring pad, vinegar, or chemicals.

Why doesn't the steam button on my Braun CareStyle 3 Pro IS 3155 deactivate when I press it?
Frequently Asked Questions - 27/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The Braun CareStyle 3 Pro IS 3155 uses a steam system with a double trigger function. If you press the steam button twice quickly (within one second), you activate continuous mode: steam will be emitted continuously for several seconds. This is normal operation of the system. To stop this continuous emission, press the steam button again. A single press produces a short burst of steam.

First, check that the water tank is properly installed. The tank's float detects the water level and controls the activation of the steam system. If the tank is poorly inserted, partially clicked in, or misaligned, the float may be stuck and the system will not function properly. Remove the 1.4 L removable tank, visually inspect it to ensure it does not contain limescale deposits or residues, then reinstall it firmly by clicking it all the way onto the device.

Completely empty the water tank and rinse it thoroughly with tap water (without chemical descaler as per Braun's recommendations). Ensure that the internal float moves freely and is not stuck. Fill the tank with fresh water up to the maximum fill line, then reinstall it correctly on the iron. Wait for the device to reach its full operating temperature: the steam function icon should remain lit continuously (it will blink during heating).

Test the steam system: press the steam button located under the handle once and wait for steam to come out of the soleplate holes. If no steam appears, press and hold the steam button for 10 consecutive seconds, then release it. This step purges any condensed water that may have blocked the steam pipes during the first use or after a prolonged period of inactivity.

If the button remains physically pressed down or stuck in the pressed position (unable to release), or if the steam system still does not respond correctly after these checks, there is likely a technical defect in the button mechanism or the electronic control system. In this case, the device is covered by Braun's 2-year warranty: contact the authorized Braun service center for assistance or repair.

  • Never use distilled water exclusively. Do not add any additives (e.g. starch). Do not use condensation water from a tumble dryer.
  • Insert the water tank.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, level surface.

Note:

If you use filtering devices, make absolutely sure the water obtained is neutral ph.

Water reserve function

  • When the water level is becoming low, the icon ⬆ starts flashing. At this stage it is possible to continue steam ironing for about 10-15 minutes.
  • When the icon ⬆ turns permanently on, it becomes necessary to refill the tank. At the same time, the temperature control LED (12) is flashing and the icon related to the selected setting turns off.
  • To continue steam ironing, refill the water tank (A).

  • Once the temperature setting is reached, the temperature control LED (12) is permanently on.
  • Settings: The requested setting can be chosen by pressing the corresponding button (eco, normal or turbo). To switch from one setting to another press the dedicated button (3).

  • 3D soleplate: The unique round shape of the 3D soleplate ensures best gliding results on difficult parts (e. g. buttons, pockets etc.)

(C) Precision shot

  • Press the precision shot button (13) completely down.
  • Steam will come out of the tip area of the soleplate only.
  • To stop this function release the button (13).
  • If you do not press it down completely, some steam may also come out from the rear steam holes in the soleplate.

(D) Iron Auto-Off

  • When the iron is in the auto-off mode, the icon ⏻ is flashing and the temperature control LED (12) is off. The iron will turn off to reduce power consumption.
  • It is activated if after 10 minutes there has been no steam emission.
  • To turn the iron on again, the On/Off button (2) has to be pressed. Before starting ironing again wait until the temperature control LED (12) is continuously on.

After ironing

  • Press the On/Off button (2) to turn off the appliance.
  • Unplug and let the appliance cool down before storing.
    • Empty the water tank.

The icon Ⓧ is flashing.

  • First, switch off and unplug the appliance.
  • Unlock the iron and remove the iron from the iron rest. Wait until the appliance has cooled down (minimum 2.5 hours).
  • Remove and empty the water tank.
  • Remove the transparent cover (8) and unscrew the cleaning valve (9).
  • Empty the boiler.
  • Pour in 500 ml tap water. Do not use any chemicals, additives or descaler.
  • Screw the cleaning valve (9) to close the boiler.
  • Shake the base unit to rinse, then empty the boiler.
  • Repeat this procedure one more time.

- After having finished the descaling procedure, plug in, switch on (2) and press the calc clean system button (4) for 2 seconds to reset.

If the appliance is switched off without descaling, the icon ⚙ will start to flash again when it is next switched on.

Note: Because of the different water composition by using an installed in-house permanent descaler, it is recommended to descale the system after every 4 complete refills. Please note that in this case the icon for descaling will not automatically start flashing.

(G) Cleaning and maintenance

  • Before cleaning, always make sure that the appliance is switched off, unplugged and has cooled down completely.
  • Wipe the soleplate clean with a damp or dry cloth.
  • Never use scouring pads, vinegar or other chemicals.
