How to connect the Alias microphone to my PC?

Connect the included USB-C to USB-A cable to the micro's USB-C port, then to your PC's USB-A port. The microphone will be automatically recognized. Select 'SteelSeries Alias' as the input/output device in Windows sound settings.

How to use the mute button?

Press the mute button on the front of the microphone to mute the sound. The LED blinks or changes color to indicate mute status.

How to adjust the microphone volume?

Turn the microphone gain selector on the back of the microphone while speaking at a normal distance. The LED should stay green (with at most four yellow LEDs) for optimal level. If it turns red, reduce the gain.

Does the microphone work with a PlayStation or Xbox console?

The manual indicates PC only compatibility. It is not guaranteed to work with consoles without an additional adapter.

What software to use to configure the microphone?

Download SteelSeries GG (including Engine) from steelseri.es/gg. You can adjust audio settings, RGB lighting, and benefit from Sonar for optimized sound.

How to mount the microphone on a boom arm?

Remove the microphone stand and the thumbscrew. Attach the stand adapter to the arm, align it with the holes on the shock mount, then tighten the thumbscrew while aligning the groove.

What do the LED colors mean?

The RGB LED indicator zone shows volume level: green (good level), yellow (near maximum), red (clipping). The RGB lighting can be customized via software.

How to adjust the headphone volume?

Connect your headphones to the 3.5mm jack on the back of the microphone. Turn the headphone gain selector on the front to increase or decrease the sound level.

What is the ideal distance between the mouth and the microphone?

Maintain a distance of about 60 cm (24 inches) for optimal capture. Adjust the gain accordingly.

The microphone produces no sound, what to do?

Check that the USB cable is properly connected, that the microphone is not muted, and that the gain is sufficient. Make sure 'SteelSeries Alias' is selected as the input device in sound settings. Restart the SteelSeries GG software if necessary.

HEADPHONE CONNECTION

1 Connect your 3.5 mm Headphone Cable to the Headphone Port (10) on the Alias Microphone.
2 Turn the Headphone Gain Dial (3) on the front of the Microphone to increase / decrease the Headphone Output Level.

DESKTOP PLACEMENT

1 Place the Alias Microphone on your desk facing your speaking position.
2 Tilt the Alias Microphone until it reaches a perpendicular position to your face.

3 Try to maintain a distance within 24" / 60 cm from the Microphone to your speaking position.

SET MIC LEVEL

1 While speaking into the Microphone from your regular seating position, turn the Microphone Gain Dial (6) on the back of the Microphone until the Level Indicator LEDs of the RGB LED Indicator Zone (1) turn green and the fourth LED turns Yellow for maximum speaking level.
2 If the RGB LED Indicator Zone (1) turns red, decrease the Microphone Gain until the Level Indicator LEDs stay green. (The yellow LED above green is acceptable and a warning you are nearing maximum desired speaking level.)

MICROPHONE MUTE

Push the Microphone Mute Button (2) to mute the Microphone's input.

ATTACHING TO A BOOM ARM

1 Secure the included Boom Arm Adapter (13) onto a Microphone Boom Arm. The Boom Arm Adapter (13) supports 3/8" and 5/8" thread sizes.

2 Remove the Thumb Screw (8) and Microphone Stand (11) from the Microphone.

3 Align the Boom Arm Adapter (13) with the Shock Mount Adapter Holes (7.1) and secure the Boom Arm Adapter (13) with the Thumb Screw (8). Make sure the Thumb Screw Insert Groove (8.1) lines up with the Boom Arm Adapter Hole Notch (13.1). Rotate the Thumb Screw as needed to insert into the Boom Arm Adapter Hole.
