2 SAFETY INFORMATION
- If present, adjust the support feet/tips in order to obtain the best possible conditions of stability. Do not place heavy objects on the loudspeaker, as these could compromise its integrity and/or stability.
- If the loudspeaker (of a book shelf type) is to be placed upon a support surface other than those for which it has been designed (e.g. bookcases, shelves, TV stands, etc.), the surface's ability to sustain the weight of the loudspeakers themselves must first be verified. Also check that there is enough friction between the loudspeaker and the surface in order to avoid any movements caused by vibrations during use. Where needed, rubber adhesive feet can be purchased from all good hardware stores.
- Do not put any objects containing water or other liquid/liquefiable substances on the loudspeaker system.
- Follow the connection diagram suggested in the instruction manual. Remember that the parallel connection of two or more loudspeakers can damage your amplifier. If in doubt, contact your dealer.
- Avoid staying in close proximity to the loudspeakers while the audio system is operating at high volume. This can cause permanent damage to your hearing! Children should maintain a safe distance from the loudspeaker system of at least 50~cm .
- The loudspeakers produce an electromagnetic field which is harmless to humans and pets, but can cause disturbances to the proper functionality of electronic equipment, such as CRT monitors or TVs, when placed in close proximity. If this occurs, increase the equipment's distance from the
loudspeakers. Do not place credit cards or other similar magnetic stripe cards on the loudspeaker.
- The technology behind the functioning of the loudspeakers is based on the principles of electromagnetism, and thus the user should avoid operating equipment that generates strong electromagnetic fields as these could affect the correct functioning of the loudspeaker. Avoid placing transmitting devices such as mobile phones, cordless phones, intercom systems etc. on top of the loudspeaker systems.
- Do not connect directly to a constant voltage (100 V, 70.7 V or similar) sound distribution system. This could result in a serious system overload, with possible damage to the loudspeaker system and/or the amplifier unit.
- Do not place audio cables and electrical power cables in close proximity to one another. An electromagnetic field is present in the vicinity of the power cables, which can cause an unpleasant humming noise. In this case, increase the distance between the audio cables and the power cables.
- Be very careful during the assembly and disassembly of the rubber string grille, if present. Make sure that the lower bracket's pins have been properly inserted into their lodgings before tightening the wires to fasten the upper bracket.
- The loudspeaker cable terminals accept banana plugs. This protection is aimed at avoiding accidental connection to unprotected electrical outlets. Only remove the red and black plastic caps if you intend to use this type of connection, and make sure that the other end of the cable is connected to the amplifier's power output terminals.

3.2.ASSEMBLY
Follow the indications below, based on the model in your possession. Please refer to 7 Illustrations.
3.2.1.CONNECTIONS

The connections must be carried out with the equipment turned off
The connection terminals for spade connectors, banana connectors, and unsheathed cables can be found on the rear panel of each loudspeaker.
The Amati Tradition, Serafino Tradition and Guarneri Tradition models have 4 terminals, which allow for the following connection methods:
MONO-WIRING
The terminals must remain connected to one another by the jumpers, and the connection must be carried out by connecting one loudspeaker to the amplifier's right channel output terminals, and the other loudspeaker to the amplifier's left channel output terminals, respecting their polarity, as illustrated in Figure 9.
BI-WIRING
This type of connection serves to increase the overall sound quality, particularly the detail resolution at low frequencies. It requires the use of two pairs of power cables, as follows: remove the connections between the terminals (jumpers), and independently connect each pair of terminals to the amplifier, as shown in Figure 10.
BI-AMPLIFICATION
Bi-amplification generally improves the sound quality, and particularly ensures greater dynamics and control of the bass frequencies. It requires the use of two stereo amplifiers and two pairs of power cables, and the removal of the connections between the loudspeakers' terminals. An amplifier will be used to amplify the high frequencies (left and right channels), and will be connected with a pair of power cables to the loudspeakers' dedicated high frequency terminals.
A second amplifier will be used to amplify the low frequencies (left and right channels), and will be connected with a pair of power cables to the loudspeakers' dedicated low frequency terminals. See Figure 11.
The Vox Tradition model has two connection terminals; the connection type and method are shown in Figure 12.
The proper tightening of the contacts and their periodic inspection can help to improve performance.
3.3 INSTALLATION TIPS: THE LOUDSPEAKER IN THE LISTENING ENVIRONMENT
The loudspeakers of the Homage Tradition collection are designed to be easily inserted within the listening environment. In order to ensure the best performance, follow indications below. Please refer to 7 Illustrations.
- The choice of the listening environment and the loudspeakers' positioning can affect the entire audio system's performance. Rooms with irregular shapes are preferable; these types of rooms can improve the response within the listening environment, as they limit the formation of standing waves;
- Within reason, the presence of rugs and curtains can have a positive effect upon the acoustic response, as they help to absorb the reflections and standing waves generated within the listening environment;
There are no fixed and universally-applicable rules for every environment. Nevertheless, one good approach to positioning the loudspeakers within the listening environment is to start by dividing, the listening environment's floor plan into three equal areas, as indicated by the dotted lines in Figure 13. At this point, it is recommended to position the loudspeakers on the first line (A), at a good distance from the lateral walls, and to position the listening station on the second line (A), as shown in Figure 13. In this manner, a good amount of air will be present
all around the subjects involved in the stereo reproduction, thus allowing the loudspeakers to work freely, while at the same time shielding the listener from the acoustic reflections generated near the walls and in the corners of the room itself. Figure 14 shows how the loudspeakers' axis should converge toward the listening position by crossing over top of it, thus creating the classic "isosceles triangle" configuration.
This measure, which consists of orienting the loudspeakers in such a way as to literally point them towards the listener's ears, provides for a significant improvement in the focus of the stereophonic image.
Given that the illustrated procedure, which is aimed at creating quasi-ideal listening conditions, cannot be applied by all of our customers due to objective problems linked to the organization of the living environment, it is recommended to position the two loudspeakers away from the corners of the room, and at a distance of at least 100cm from the lateral and end walls.
We also recommend positioning the two loudspeakers at a distance of no less than 180~cm from one another, as well as between each individual loudspeaker and the listening point.
The distance between the loudspeakers themselves, and between the loudspeakers and the listening point, can be subsequently adjusted as desired.
3.3.1.HOME-THEATRES AND MULTICHANNEL SYSTEMS
In addition to use with traditional stereos, the loudspeakers of the Homage Tradition collection can also be used with "home theatres" and "multi-channel" systems. While the rules already indicated continue to apply for the main channel (front) loudspeakers, the loudspeakers for the rear channels should be positioned as shown in Figure 14, with the central loudspeaker perfectly in line with the vertical axis passing through the centre of the video screen (above or below the screen itself), and the subwoofer positioned at any point within the listening environment, except the corners.
For additional information on the best setup practices, it is recommended to refer to the instructions provided along with your amplification system.
4 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Aside from periodic cleaning, the loudspeakers of the Homage Tradition collection do not require any particular maintenance operations. In order to preserve the loudspeakers' finish, cover them with the supplied fabric protector, above all if the loudspeaker system is not expected to be used for an extended period of time.

Risk of damage to the device casing!
Do not use cleaning products, furniture wax, liquid detergents or alcohol.
Do not! use rough cloths.
Do not use products like waxes or detergents to clean the wood portion of the cabinet, as these could stain or damage the wood or the loudspeakers themselves. Use a soft cloth (e.g. microfibre, like that supplied), and moisten it slightly with the supplied liquid, if necessary.
Wood is a natural living material that can be affected
by the environmental conditions.
We recommend keeping the loudspeakers away from heat sources or windows, above all during the summer months.
Avoid exposing the loudspeakers to direct sunlight. In order to clean the metal and glass surfaces of the Homage Tradition loudspeakers, it is recommended to use the supplied liquid and cloth.
Use a soft brush to eliminate any dust that may have accumulated on the cabinet, the front panels, and the loudspeakers themselves, taking care not to damage the loudspeakers' delicate membranes.
These measures will help to keep your loudspeakers' working perfectly for years to come. Time will help improve the sound by breaking in the speakers' moving parts (membranes and suspensions), and the acoustic chamber will become accustomed to music being played the more it is used - much like what happens with acoustic string instruments!
