IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, serious personal injury and/or property damage:
A. Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handle while it is in use. Use protective oven mitts or gloves to avoid burns or serious personal injury.
B. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the power cord, plug or product in water or expose to other liquids.
C. Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. This product is not intended for use by children. Close adult supervision is necessary when any appliance is used near children.
D. Unplug appliance from electrical outlet before cleaning and when not in use. Allow to cool down completely before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning the appliance.
E. Do not operate the product if it has a damaged power cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Do not attempt to examine or repair this product yourself. Please call the customer service number provided in this user manual.
F. Do not leave the product unattended while it is in use. Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when not in use.
G. To disconnect, switch control to "MIN" then remove plug from the outlet. Pull directly on the plug – do not pull on the power cord.
H. Take proper precautions to prevent burns, fire, or personal or property damage as this appliance generates heat and steam during use.
I. Do not plug or unplug the product into/from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.
J. Use the product in a well-ventilated area.
K. Keep the product away from curtains, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials.
L. Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer.
M. This product is intended for indoor, non-commercial use in cooking or heating food items for human consumption. Do not use outdoors or for any other purpose.
N. Do not allow the power cord to hang (e.g., over the edge of a table or counter) or touch hot surfaces.
O. Do not place the product on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in heated oven or microwave oven.
P. Always place the product on a flat, level, stable surface – it is not recommended to use the appliance on temperature sensitive surfaces.
Q. Connect the power plug to an easily accessible outlet so that the skillet can be unplugged immediately in the event of an emergency.
R. Do not use appliance for anything other than its intended use.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this feature or modify the plug in any way. If the plug fits loosely into the AC outlet or if the AC outlet feels warm, do not use that outlet.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
AN EXTENSION CORD MAY BE USED IF CARE IS EXERCISED IN THEIR USE:
- Minimize the risk of overheating by using the shortest UL or ETL listed cord possible.
- The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.
- Never use a single extension cord to operate more than one appliance.
- If the product is of the grounding type, the extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord.
- Arrange the longer cord so that it will not drape over a countertop or tabletop where it can be tripped over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally (especially by children).
DO NOT alter the plug. DO NOT attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
BEFORE FIRST USE
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
A. Remove all parts & accessories. Dispose of packaging.
B. Wipe the cooking plates with a damp sponge or cloth.
WARNING: Do not run water directly onto the cooking surface. Do not immerse the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquids or place in the dishwasher.
C. Dry thoroughly.
D. Wipe the cover with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
HOW TO USE
(READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE)
WARNING: Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handle of the product. Use protective oven mitts or gloves to avoid burns or serious personal injury
NOTE: Never use metal utensils such as forks, knives with this product, as they will scratch the non-stick surface. Only use plastic, rubber, wooden, or silicone cooking utensils

Place the product on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
-
Plug the power cord into a standard 120-volt AC electrical outlet.
-
Set the temperature control dial to "MAX" to preheat the appliance. Power Light (red) will illuminate, indicating the product is heating.
NOTE: The ready-to-Cook Light (green) cycles on and off indicating the unit is preheating.

The Ready-to-cook light indicator (green) will illuminate, indicating the appliance has reached the selected temperature.

Open the cover and pour approximately 3/4 cup waffle batter onto the bottom plate and close the cover. For best results, pour batter in a circle around the outer edge.
NOTE: Batter will expand rapidly inside the appliance; DO NOT lock the cover during the cooking process. Do not over-fill as the batter will seep out over the edge.
NOTE: Do not open the cover while steam is escaping. Cooking time may vary depending on the type of batter used and the desired level of browning.
- When steam has stopped escaping, it is an indication that waffle is cooked. You may cook for a longer period of time to achieve the desired crispiness. When waffle is done use silicone utensils to remove from the grids.
NOTE: The ready-to-cook light (green) may cycle on and off during cooking. This is normal and it indicates that the thermostat is maintaining the unit at the proper cooking temperature.
- Close the cover and wait for ready-to-cook light (green) to illuminate again before preparing another batch of waffles.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the electrical outlet and allow it to completely cool down before handling or cleaning.
WARNING: Do not pour cold water on the product, as the sudden temperature change may damage the product or create a burn hazard.
- Wipe the cooking plates with a damp sponge or cloth.
WARNING: Do not run water directly onto the cooking surface. Do not immerse the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquids or place in the dishwasher.
- Wipe the cover and the outside surface with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
NOTE: Do not use bleach or abrasive cleansers/scouring pads to clean the plates, as it may damage the non-stick finish and /or exteriors surfaces.
- Use the locking latch on the cover to securely close the cover and store the unit in upright position.

- Do not over-mix waffle batter.
- Don't open the cover while steam is escaping from the appliance. This is an indication that the waffle is not thoroughly cooked.
- Do not use the locking latch on the cover during cooking process.
• Always preheat the appliance before cooking. - Close the cover and let the appliance heat before cooking another batch of waffles. Make sure the ready-to-cook light is on.
WARRANTY
1-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY.
This warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of the original purchase. Please retain your original receipt as a proof of the purchase date. Any complaints must be registered within the warranty period. The product will be repaired, replaced (parts or entire appliance) or refunded at our sole discretion. Shipping charges may apply.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following:
Negligent use or misuse of the product including failure to clean the product regularly, use for commercial purposes, accident, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the operating instructions, disassembly, repair or altercation by anyone other than a STARFRIT authorized service agent.
Stains, discoloration and minor scratches on the inside and outside of the utensil constitute normal use, do not affect performance, and are not covered by this warranty.
Decisions as to the cause of damage are the responsibility of Starfrit. All decisions will be final.
RECIPE
CHOCOLATE CHIP WAFFLES
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup (250 ml) flour
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) baking powder
- 14 tsp (1.25 ml) salt
- 14 cup (60 ml) brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 14 cup (60 ml) oil
• 1 cup (250 ml) butter milk
• 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 12 cup (125 ml) chocolate chips
PREPARATION:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and set aside.
- In another mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and brown sugar for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add vanilla extract and incorporate oil gradually.
- Using a spatula, add the dry ingredients to the mixture. Alternate with butter milk.
- Add the chocolate chips and let the batter rest for about 8-10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat the waffle maker.
- Pour 34 cup waffle batter onto the bottom plate and close the cover.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
