Protecting the TV Screen (OLED TV)
Precautions to Protect the Screen from Damage
Image retention
OLED TVs are susceptible to image retention (burn-in) due to the characteristics of the materials used. Image retention may occur if images are displayed in the same location on the screen repeatedly or over extended periods of time. This is not a malfunction of the TV. Avoid displaying images that may cause image retention.
The following are examples of images that may cause image retention:
- Content with black bars either on the top and bottom and/or the left and right sides of the screen. (for example, Letterboxed, 4:3 screen, Standard definition)
- Static images such as photos. Video games that might have static content in some part of the screen.
- On-screen menus, programme guides, channel logos etc.
- Static content from applications.
- On-screen tickers, such as those used for news and headlines.
To reduce the risk of image retention:
- Sony recommends that you turn off the TV normally by pressing the power button on the remote control or the TV.
- Fill the screen by changing [Wide mode] to eliminate the black bars. Select [Wide mode] other than [Normal].
- Turn off the OSD (On Screen Display) by pressing the (Info/Text reveal) button, and turn off the menus from connected equipment. For details, refer to the instruction manuals for the connected equipment.
- Avoid displaying static images with bright colours (including white), clocks or logos on any portion of the screen.
- Set the picture settings based on the ambient conditions. The Standard Picture is recommended for home use and when viewing content that often displays the station logos, etc.
The TV has following features to help reduce/prevent image retention.
Panel refresh
A panel refresh will adjust the panel uniformity. Panel refresh can be performed and should only be used when image retention is very noticeable.
Caution:
- The Panel refresh function may affect the panel. Do not perform Panel refresh more than once a year as it may affect the usable life of the panel.
- Panel refresh takes about one hour to complete.
- A white line may be displayed on the screen during the Panel refresh, this is not a malfunction of the TV.
- Panel refresh will only work when the room temperature is between 10°C and 40°C.
Pixel shift
Automatically moves the image on the screen to prevent image retention.
Other feature
The screen brightness is automatically reduced when displaying still images, clocks, bright colours or logos etc.
Using TV as Part of Audio System
Note
- Before connecting cables, disconnect the mains lead of both TV and AV receiver. Refer to the instruction manual of the Audio system with S-CENTER OUT terminal for detail.

Troubleshooting
General troubleshooting for issues like: black screen, no sound, frozen picture, TV does not respond, or network is lost, do the following steps.
1. Restart your TV by pressing the power button on the remote control for about five seconds. The TV will restart. If the TV does not recover, try unplugging the mains lead, then press the power button on the TV and release it. Wait for two minutes, and plug in the mains lead. Or, press the power button on the TV for about 40 seconds until the TV turns off. 2. Refer to the Help menu by pressing HELP on the remote control. 3. Connect your TV to the Internet and perform a software update. Sony recommends you to keep your TV software updated. Software updates provide new features and performance improvements. 4. Visit Sony support website (information provided at the end of this manual).
When you plug in the TV, the TV may not be able to turn on for a while even if you press the power button on the remote control or the TV.
It takes time to initialize the system. Wait for about one minute, then operate it again.
The remote control does not function.
- Replace the batteries. The parental lock password has been forgotten.
- Enter 9999 for the PIN and enter the new PIN.
The screen becomes darker while watching TV.
- If the whole image or part of the image remains still, the screen brightness will be gradually reduced to prevent image retention. This is not a malfunction of the TV.
You are concerned about image retention.
If the same image is displayed repeatedly or for long periods of time, image retention may occur. To reduce image retention, we recommend that you turn off the TV normally by pressing the power button on the remote control or the TV.
Note
- Perform Panel refresh only when image retention is particularly noticeable. Avoid performing Panel refresh more than once a year because it may affect the usable life of the panel.
- Images that include clocks, logos and bright colours (including white) easily cause image retention. Avoid displaying these types of images for long periods of time, otherwise image retention may occur.
A white line appears on the screen.
- The Panel refresh has been performed. A white line may be displayed on the screen during the Panel refresh. This is not a malfunction of the TV. Panel refresh starts after the TV is turned off and takes about one hour to complete.
The message [Panel refresh did not finish...] is displayed.
When i) the TV is turned on, ii) the mains lead is unplugged, or iii) the room temperature falls outside of the range between 10°C and 40°C during the Panel refresh, the Panel refresh is not completed. Please avoid the above three conditions during the Panel refresh.

Safety Information
Installation/Setup
Install and use the television in accordance with the instructions described below to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock, or damage and/or injury.
The television must be placed close to the power outlet. - Place the television on a stable, flat surface to avoid it falling, which could cause injury or damage to property. - Install the television in a place where it cannot be pushed, pulled, or knocked over.
- Place the television so that the table for the TV is not in contact with the table on which the television is placed (not touching). If the table for the TV is pulled out directly from the table on which the television is placed, this could cause the television to tip over and could cause injury or damage to the television.

Moving
- Before moving the television, disconnect all cables from it. Moving a large television requires two or more people. When moving the television to a shelf, hold it as shown below. Do not press on the panel near the screen.

When moving or securing the television, do not hold it by the stand.

- When moving, do not expose the television to sudden impacts or vibrations. When moving the television for repair or disposal, pack it using the original packaging material.
Preventing falls

Protecting the screen of the television (OLED TV)
Preventive measures to protect the screen from damage
Image retention
OLED TVs are susceptible to image retention (burn-in) due to the characteristics of the display panel used. Image retention may occur if a still image is displayed on the screen repeatedly or for an extended period of time. This is not a malfunction of the television. Avoid displaying images that may cause image retention.
Examples of images that may cause image retention include:
Content with black bars at the top and bottom or left and right sides of the screen. (For example, letterboxed format, 4:3 screen, standard resolution) - Still images such as video game screens, which have static content in some areas of the screen. - Screen menus, program guides, channel logos, etc. - Static content from applications. - Screen brightness, such as settings used for news broadcasts.
To reduce the risk of image retention:
- Sony recommends using the TV as usual, as if you were using a remote control for the TV. Press the screen, then apply [Wide screen mode] to remove the black bars. For [Wide screen mode], select, then select [Normal]. It turns off (Screen Display) by pressing the button I+/INFO/DISPLAY TEXT) and turns off the menu from the connected equipment. For details, see the user manual for the connected equipment. - Adjust the picture settings with the remote control (including brightness), time, or emblem to suit your screen. Set the picture according to the conditions of the environment. The standard picture mode is recommended for home use when viewing content that often shows static images.
The TV has functions that help reduce or prevent image retention.
Panel refresh
Refreshes the panel to improve the image. You can refresh the panel, but only if image retention is severe.
Caution:
The panel refresh function may shorten the panel's lifespan. Do not refresh the panel more than once a year, as this may reduce the panel's lifespan. - Panel refresh takes about one hour. - During panel refresh, a white line may appear on the screen; this is not a malfunction of the TV. - Panel refresh works only when the room temperature is between 10 °C and 40 °C.
Pixel shift
Automatically shifts the image on the screen to prevent image retention.
Other functions
The brightness of the screen automatically decreases when static images, time, or logos are displayed.

Safety
Installation/Connection
To avoid fire, electric shock, damage to the TV, or injury, perform installation and operation of the TV according to the following instructions.
Installation
The TV should be installed near an easily accessible power outlet. To prevent tipping or injury, install the TV on a stable, flat surface. - Install the TV in a place where it cannot be pulled or tipped over.
- Position the TV in such a way that its stand does not extend beyond the TV stand (not included in the package). If the stand extends beyond the TV stand, the TV may tip over and fall, which could result in injury or damage to the TV.

Moving the TV
- Before moving the TV, disconnect all cables from it. -For large TVs, two or more people are required.
- When carrying the TV by hand, hold it as shown below. Do not apply pressure to the panel or the screen frame.

-When installing the TV, do not place it with the screen facing down.

- When transporting, protect the TV from shocks and strong vibrations. If it is necessary to deliver the TV to a repair shop or transport it to another location, pack it in the cardboard box and packing materials in which it was originally supplied.
Preventing tipping over
Protecting the TV screen (OLED TV)
Precautions for protecting the screen from damage
Afterimage effect
Due to the properties of the materials used in OLED TVs, an afterimage effect (image retention on the screen) may occur. The afterimage effect can occur if images are displayed repeatedly in the same location or for extended periods of time. This is not a malfunction of the TV. Do not display images that can cause the afterimage effect.
Below are examples of images that can cause the afterimage effect:
Content with black bars at the top and bottom and/or left and right on the screen. (e.g., letterboxed screen format, 4:3 at standard resolution) -Still images, such as photographs. Videos that may have still content in certain parts of the screen. -Screen menus, TV programs, channel logos, etc. -Still content in apps -Screen tickers, for example in news and headlines.
To reduce the risk of the afterimage effect occurring:
- Sony recommends turning off the TV in the usual way, by pressing the power button on the remote control or on the TV. Fill the screen by selecting [Wide screen mode] to eliminate black bars. Select [Wide screen mode] instead of [4:3].
- Turn off the OSD (on-screen display) functions (using the [1] FORMAT/EXIT button) and also turn off the menu on the connected equipment. For details, refer to the operating instructions for the connected equipment. Standard on-screen displays may appear with artifacts (including flickering) in the lower part of the screen.
Set the image settings according to the ambient conditions. For home viewing, as well as for viewing content with on-screen displays of station logos, T.I. recommends the standard image setting.
The TV provides the following functions to reduce or prevent the afterimage effect.
Panel Refresh
Panel refresh is performed to correct uniformity of the screen. You can perform panel refresh; this option should be used only when noticeable signs of the afterimage effect appear.
Caution:
- The panel refresh function may affect the panel. Do not perform panel refresh more than once a day, as this may affect the panel's lifespan.
- Panel refresh takes approximately 1 hour.
- While performing the panel refresh function, the screen may appear dark; this is not a sign of a TV malfunction.
- Panel refresh works only at temperatures from 10°C to 40°C
Pixel Shift
Automatic shifting of the screen image to prevent the afterimage effect.
Function
Screen brightness decreases automatically when displaying photos, clocks, bright lights, or logos.
For customer information:
To ensure the safety of the product, Sony strongly recommends that only qualified service personnel or licensed installers perform the TV installation. Do not attempt to install it yourself.
For Sony dealers and installers:
Pay special attention to safety during installation, periodic maintenance, and inspection of this product.
Mount the TV using the bracket for wall mounting
Bracket for wall mounting

Keep the unused screws and table-top stand in a safe place until you are ready to secure the table-top stand. Keep the screws out of the reach of children. *Only in certain regions/countries/TV models.
Troubleshooting
The main ways to solve and fix the following problems: blank screen, no sound, frozen frames, no response when pressing buttons, network loss. If these problems occur, perform the following actions.
1 Restart the TV by pressing the power button on the remote control for about five seconds. If the TV does not return to the previous mode, try disconnecting the power cord, then press the power button on the TV and release it. Wait for two minutes, then reconnect the power cord. Or press and hold the power button on the TV for about 40 seconds until the TV turns off. 2 See the help menu by pressing the HELP button on the remote control. 3 Connect the TV to the internet and perform a software update. Sony recommends updating the TV software in a timely manner. Thanks to the software update, the TV's performance improves, and new functions become available. 4 Visit the Sony support website (information provided at the end of this manual).
The remote control does not work.
- Replace the batteries.
Forgot the PIN for the "Parental Lock" function.
Enter 9999 as the PIN code and enter a new PIN code.
The screen darkens while watching the TV.
- If a still image is displayed on the screen, the screen brightness gradually decreases to prevent the afterimage effect. This is not a malfunction of the TV.
You are concerned about the afterimage effect.
If a still image is displayed repeatedly or for a long time on the screen, an afterimage effect may occur. To reduce the afterimage effect, we recommend turning off the TV in the standard way by pressing the power button on the TV.
Solution
- Perform the panel refresh only if the afterimage effect is strongly noticeable. Do not perform the panel refresh more than once a day, as this may affect the panel's lifespan.
- Images containing high contrast colors (including white) can quickly lead to the afterimage effect. Do not allow prolonged display of such images, otherwise the afterimage effect may occur.
A white line is displayed on the screen.
- Panel refresh has been performed. When performing the panel refresh function, a white line may appear on the screen. This is not a malfunction of the TV. The panel refresh starts after turning off the TV and takes approximately an hour.
The message [Panel refresh not completed...] is displayed.
If i) the TV is turned on, ii) the power cable is disconnected, or iii) the ambient temperature goes outside the range of 10°C - 40°C during the execution of the panel refresh function, this process will not be completed. Avoid the three conditions mentioned above during the panel refresh.

Precautions

Protecting the OLED screen of the TV
Measures to prevent image retention
Image retention effect
Due to the characteristic materials from which the OLED screen is made, an image retention effect may occur. This can also happen in cases where the same image is displayed on the screen for a long time. This does not indicate a malfunction of the TV. Avoid displaying images that may cause the image retention effect.
The following are examples of such images:
Images with black bars at the top and bottom, and/or on the left and right sides of the screen. (For example, widescreen content displayed on a standard TV with a 4:3 screen, or standard images - static images, such as photos. Video games, which may have static images in any part of the screen. - Screen menus, electronic program guides, channel logos. - Static contrast images in program broadcasts. Screen notifications such as time, channel number, etc., used in headers and news.
To reduce the occurrence of the image retention effect:
Sony recommends turning off the TV using the remote control when not in use. Stretch the image to fill the entire screen by selecting the [Wide mode] to avoid black bars. Use [Wide mode], not [Normal] mode. Turn off the on-screen display (OSD) and all menus connected to it by pressing the + / (Normal/Text display) button. See the detailed information in the manuals of connected devices. Avoid displaying static images with bright colors (including white), as well as clocks and logos in any part of the screen. Set the image parameters according to the conditions of the viewing environment. The Standard Picture mode (Standard format) is recommended for viewing static content, such as channel logos.
The TV has functions that help reduce the image retention effect or eliminate it.
Panel refresh function
The refresh function ensures uniform brightness of the panel. The panel can be refreshed when there are noticeable image retention effects.
3actepekhi 3axo#n:
FUNCTIONALITY OF THE REMOTE CONTROL. Update the largest icons, otherwise it may negatively affect the service of the remote control. - The update procedure takes about one hour. The update procedure on the screen may be displayed as a service. This does not indicate a malfunction. The remote control works only if the room temperature is between 10°C and 40°C.
Function of the settings
This function automatically adjusts the screen image to obtain the best picture.
Other functions
The screen automatically turns off when displaying static images, such as photos, or when the screen is not used for a long time.
