SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Dispose of properly in accordance with federal or local regulations.
  • Follow handling instructions carefully.
  • Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.

WARNING:

  • Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction.
  • Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
  • Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer.

IMPORTANT

This appliance is intended to produce ice only. It is not intended for the long-term storage of ice. Move any excess ice into a freezer for long-term storage (>6 hours) if you desire to keep the ice. Ice that is left to sit in the bucket will melt over time.

CAUTION: Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities may be different or reduced, or who lack experience or knowledge, unless such persons receive supervision or training to operate the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- Farm houses and by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
- Bed and breakfast type environments;
- Catering and similar non-retail applications.

Refrigerant and Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) material used for the appliance are flammable. Therefore, when the appliance is scrapped, it shall be kept away from any fire source and be recovered by a special recovering company with corresponding qualification other than be disposed by combustion, so as to prevent damage to the environment or any other harm.

WARNING:

  • Do not store explosive substances such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in this appliance.
  • This appliance is not recommended for use with sockets or main switches with the A/GFCI function, as it may cause false tripping.
  • Careful handling, moving, and use of the ice maker to avoid either damaging the refrigerant tubing, or increasing the risk of a leak.
  • All component parts shall be replaced with like components and that servicing shall be done by factory authorized service personnel, so as to minimize the risk of possible ignition due to incorrect parts or improper service
  • The ice maker is to be installed in accordance with the Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems, ASHRAE 15. The ice maker shall not be installed in corridors or hallways of public buildings.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded. Grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current.

This appliance has a cord that has a grounding wire with a 3-prong plug. The power cord must be plugged into an outlet that is properly grounded. If the outlet is a 2-prong wall outlet, it must be replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. The serial rating plate indicates the voltage and frequency the appliance is designed for.

WARNING - Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service agent if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.

Do not connect your appliance to extension cords or together with another appliance in the same wall outlet. Do not splice the power cord. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord. Do not use extension cords or ungrounded (two prongs) adapters.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified person in order to avoid hazard.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

LOCATION

  • Place the ice maker on a sturdy and level surface.
  • Position the ice maker away from sources of heat and avoid direct sunlight to ensure efficient performance.
  • Ensure at least 20~cm (7.9 inches) of space around the air inlet and outlet.
  • If the ambient temperature is lower than 5^ (41^) , the ice maker may not operate correctly.
  • Do not use this ice maker outdoors.
  • Do not plug in the ice maker within 30 minutes of moving to avoid damage to internal components.

SET-UP PREPARATION

  1. Remove and discard all packaging.
  2. Make sure you have all the accessories and instructions
  3. Place the ice maker in a suitable position.
  4. Clean the ice maker and run the self-clean mode before using the ice maker for the first time.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

CONTROL PANEL

  1. Power indicator: Illuminates when the ice maker is running.
  2. Low water indicator: Illuminates when the water level is too low to make more ice.
  3. Full bucket indicator: Illuminates when the bucket is full of ice.
  4. Power button: Press to begin making ice.

MAKING ICE

  1. Pour clean water into the water tank to the "Max Fill Line".
  2. You must only use drinkable water to make ice.
  3. Press the power button to begin making ice.

Note: The ice maker only makes ice, it does not store ice. Ice left in the bucket will melt over time. Move excess ice to a freezer for long term storage.

Make sure that all water is drained from the ice maker when you are finished making ice. Do not allow water to sit inside the ice maker longer than 12 hours.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  • Always drain when the ice maker is inside or over a sink.
  • Remove the rubber plug from the water outlet to drain any excess water from the ice maker.
  • The ice maker should be drained every time you are finished making ice as well when you are finished using the ice maker for the season and it will be stored for a long period of time. Always ensure that no water is left inside the appliance for more than 12 hours so it does not become stagnant.

CLEANING THE INSIDE

NOTE: Be certain the power is off before cleaning any part of this appliance.

  1. Make sure to unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  2. Make sure to unplug the appliance before long term storage.
  3. Cleaning the water tank:

  4. Remove the drain cap (found inside the unit at the bottom) and plug the water outlet. Make sure the unit is in/over the sink to drain out all the water.

  5. Use clean warm water and a cloth to clean inside the ice bucket. Flush unit with clean water until the water flowing out is clear. Drain all water and reinstall rubber plug and re-tighten the nut.

  6. Do not use solvents, boiling water, cleaning agents, strong acids or strong Alkali substances for cleaning.

  7. If ice maker will not be used for a long time, you should unplug it, drain out all water dry the appliance with a clean cloth and store the ice maker in a clean place.
  8. When you're finished making ice, drain the excess water out of the unit. Do not allow the same water to sit in the unit overnight or for extended periods of time

CLEANING THE OUTSIDE

  • OUTER CASE - Clean the outside of the appliance with a soapy cloth. Rinse and then dry. Wipe the window clean with a damp clean cloth.
  • CONTROL PANEL AND DOOR - Wipe with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Do not use cleaning sprays, large amounts of soap and water and abrasive or sharp objects on the panel. They can damage it. Some paper towels can also scratch the control panel.
  • COVER SURFACE - It's important to keep the area clean where the door seals against the cabinet. Use only mild, nonabrasive detergents applied with a clean sponge or soft cloth. Rinse well.

SELF-CLEAN MODE

The self-clean mode should be completed before you use your ice maker for the first time and/or if there has been a long period without use.

Self clean mode will remove any dust or residue from internal components.

The three LED lights for POWER, ICE FULL, and ADD WATER will be on at the same time when the ice maker is in self-clean mode.

Stage 1

  1. Add equals parts of drinkable water and white vinegar to the ice maker's reservoir. Fill to the "Max Fill Line".
  2. In standby mode, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to activate self clean. A beep will sound to confirm.
  3. The upper water bucket will be filled and evacuated. The pump will remain in continuous operation as it feeds water to the bucket and evaporator coils. The cycle will run five times. Upon completion, the ice maker will return to standby mode.

Stage 2

  1. Remove the drain cap (found inside the unit at the bottom) and plug the water outlet. Make sure the unit is in/over the sink before draining the water and vinegar.
  2. Add clean, drinkable water to the "Max Fill Line".
  3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to run self clean mode again. This will act as a rinse for internal components.
  4. Upon completion of the self clean cycle, drain the water from the ice maker.
  5. Leave the lid of the ice maker open and allow it to dry completely before filling with water and making ice. The vinegar smell will dissipate quickly.
  6. When you begin making ice, you may wish to discard the first few buckets to ensure there is no lingering vinegar in the ice.

NOTES:

  • If there is a water shortage during self cleaning mode, the ice maker will automatically go into standby mode until more water is added.
  • If the water bucket fails to turn over, the ICE FULL, and ADD WATER LED lights will be flashing at the same time. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to deactivate self cleaning mode and reset the ice maker.
  • Do not allow the evaporator to soak in the water and vinegar solution for an extended period.

Limited "Carry-In" Warranty

This quality product is warranted to be free from manufacturer's defects in material and workmanship, provided that the unit is used under the normal operating conditions intended by the manufacturer. This warranty is available only to the person to whom the unit was originally sold by Danby Products Limited (Canada) or Danby Products Inc. (U.S.A.) (hereafter "Danby") or by an authorized distributor of Danby, and is non-transferable.

Terms of Warranty

Plastic parts are warranted for thirty (30) days from the date of purchase, with no extensions provided.

First 12 months

During the first twelve (12) months, any functional parts of this product found to be defective, will be repaired or replaced, at warrantor's option, at no charge to the original purchaser.

To obtain service

Contact the dealer where the unit was purchased, or contact the nearest authorized Danby service depot, where service must be performed by a qualified service technician. If service is performed on the unit by anyone other than an authorized service depot, all obligations of Danby under this warranty shall be void.

It is the responsibility of the purchaser to transport the appliance to the nearest authorized service depot. Transportation charges to and from the service location are not protected by this warranty and are the responsibility of the purchaser

Nothing within this warranty shall imply that Danby will be responsible or liable for any spoilage or damage to food or other contents of this appliance, whether due to any defect of the appliance, or its use, whether proper or improper.

Exclusions

Save as herein provided, by Danby, there are no other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, express or implied, made or intended by Danby or its authorized distributors and all other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, including any warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees under any Sale of Goods Act or like legislation or statute is hereby expressly excluded. Save as herein provided, Danby shall not be responsible for any damages to persons or property, including the unit itself, howsoever caused or any consequential damages arising from the malfunction of the unit and by the purchase of the unit, the purchaser does hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Danby from any claim for damages to persons or property caused by the unit.

General Provisions

No warranty or insurance herein contained or set out shall apply when damage or repair is caused by any of the following:

  1. Power failure.
  2. Damage in transit or when moving the appliance.
  3. Improper power supply such as low voltage, defective house wiring or inadequate fuses.
  4. Accident, alteration, abuse or misuse of the appliance such as inadequate air circulation in the room or abnormal operating conditions (ie. extremely high or low room temperature).
  5. Use for commercial or industrial purposes (ie. If the appliance is not installed in a domestic residence).
  6. Fire, water damage, theft, war, riot, hostility, acts of God such as hurricanes, floods etc.
  7. Service calls resulting in customer education.
  8. Improper Installation (ie. Building-in of a free standing appliance or using an appliance outdoors that is not approved for outdoor application, including but not limited to: garages, patios, porches or anywhere that is not properly insulated or climate controlled).

Proof of purchase date will be required for warranty claims; retain bills of sale. In the event that warranty service is required, present the proof of purchase to our authorized service depot.
