Frequently Asked Questions - THRAF580E THOMSON

What are the available operating modes?
The appliance offers four modes: Normal (constant speed), Natural (random speed variation), Sleep (gradual speed reduction) and Smart (adaptation to ambient temperature).
How do I fill the water tank?
Make sure the appliance is turned off and unplugged. Unlock and pull out the tank, fill with cold tap water without exceeding the indicated maximum level. You can add ice cubes or an ice pack for enhanced cooling.
Why does the appliance stop automatically?
The appliance stops automatically if the tank is removed or if the water level becomes too low. This activates the safety cut-off. Wait 2 minutes after stopping to allow the water in the circuit to drain before removing the tank.
How do I clean the dust filter?
Turn off and unplug the appliance. Remove the dust filter and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Let it dry before putting it back in place. Regular cleaning improves the cooler's efficiency.
What should I do if the appliance emits a smell during first use?
During first use, the water may take on a slight color from the filter and emit a faint odor. This phenomenon is normal and not harmful to health. It disappears after a few uses.
The remote control does not work, what should I check?
Ensure you insert two AAA batteries (1.5 V) respecting the polarities. Check that nothing obstructs the receiver on the appliance. If the problem persists, replace the batteries with new ones.
Can I use the appliance without water?
Yes, you can use the appliance in fan mode (without cooling) by not activating the COOL function. However, for cooling mode, the tank must be filled with water.
How to descale the water tank?
Empty the tank, then fill it with 2 liters of water and 30 ml of white vinegar. Let it sit for 20 minutes, empty, scrub the inside with a soft brush and rinse with warm water.
Is the appliance safe for children?
The appliance can be used by children over 8 years old under supervision. Children should not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance should not be carried out by children without supervision.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
The damaged power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service or a qualified person to avoid any danger. Do not use the appliance with a damaged cord.

Where is the water sensor located on the THOMSON THRAF580E air conditioner?
Frequently Asked Questions - 14 j
Response Notice-Facile

The water sensor is located in the removable water tank, at the back of the unit. It is component number 5 in the device description.

The tank has a water level indicator with reference lines indicating the minimum and maximum points. You must keep the water between these two marks for optimal operation.

Operation of the sensor:

  • When the water level drops below the minimum level indicated on the tank, the device emits a continuous beep for a few seconds to alert you.
  • After this alert, the cooling mode automatically stops.
  • A safety cut-off (component number 7) also disables the device if the tank is removed or insufficiently filled.

The tank has a capacity of 8 liters, allowing for prolonged use before refilling.

Why does the refresh button turn off after a few seconds on the THOMSON THRAF580E?
Frequently Asked Questions - 14 j
Response Notice-Facile

The RAFR (refresh) button automatically stops generally because the water level in the tank has fallen below the minimum.

According to the THOMSON THRAF580E manual, when you press the RAFR button, the water pump starts working to humidify the evaporator filter. However, this device has an important safety feature: when the water level drops below the minimum, the device emits a continuous beep for a few seconds and the refresh mode stops automatically.

Although you have tested that the pump is working, this does not necessarily mean that the water level is correct. Check the following points:

  • Fill the tank to the brim - The removable tank has a capacity of 8 liters and has marker lines indicating the minimum and maximum levels. The water sensor located in the tank automatically detects when you are below the minimum.
  • Wait 2 minutes after stopping - Before removing the tank, wait 2 minutes to allow the water in the circuit to settle down.
  • Use cold or demineralized water - Fill with cold tap water or demineralized water, without exceeding the maximum.
  • Check that the tank is properly in place - If the tank is removed or improperly inserted, a safety cut-off disables the device.

If the tank is full to the maximum, properly in place, and the button still stops after a few seconds, the problem may come from the water sensor (faulty) rather than the operation of the pump itself.
