Safety instructions Before using the bathroom scales for the first time, read the following instructions carefully and pay attention to all warnings, even if you are familiar with handling electronic devices. Store these operating instructions in a safe place for future reference. If you sell the bathroom scales or pass them on, always include these instructions. DANGER! This symbol in conjunction with the "danger" note indicates an imminent dangerous situation which, if not prevented, could result in serious injury or even death. WARNING! This symbol in conjunction with the "warning" note indicates important information for safe operation of the device and the safety of the user. These bathroom scales can be used by children aged 8 and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed on the safe use of the bathroom scales and understand the resulting risks. Children must not play with the bathroom scales. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without supervision. Always keep plastic packaging away from children. They could be damaged otherwise and there is a risk of injury. DANGER! Ensure that no fire sources (e.g. burning candles) are placed on or near the bathroom scales. It poses a fire hazard! WARNING! If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual sounds or smells, remove the batteries immediately from the bathroom scales. In these cases, the bathroom scales should not be used until they have been inspected by authorised service personnel. Never inhale smoke from a potential device fire. If you have inhaled smoke, however, consult a doctor. The inhalation of smoke can be harmful. WARNING! The bathroom scales must not become damaged in order to prevent hazards. WARNING! If the batteries have leaked, remove them to prevent damage to the bathroom scales. You can remove leaked battery fluid with a dry, absorbent cloth. Wear suitable gloves for this purpose! Contact with skin must be avoided. In the event of skin or eye contact with chemicals, they must be immediately rinsed with generous amounts of water and a doctor must be consulted. WARNING! The bathroom scales must never be exposed to any direct heat sources (for example, heaters) or direct sunlight or artificial light. Also avoid contact with dripping water and splashes and corrosive liquids. Do not use the bathroom scales near water. In particular, the bathroom scales should never be submerged in liquid (do not place any items filled with liquid, e.g. vases or drinks, on the bathroom scales). Also ensure that the bathroom scales are never subjected to excessive shocks and vibrations. Furthermore, no foreign objects may penetrate the device. Prior to use Inserting the batteries To insert the batteries, open the cover of the battery compartment at the rear of the bathroom scales by slipping your finger into the slot on the side of the battery compartment (6). Now remove the cover of the battery compartment (6) and insert the supplied batteries. Pay attention to the polarity (note + and -) when inserting the batteries. The polarity is illustrated on the batteries and in the battery compartment (6). Then replace the cover on the battery compartment (6) until it snaps into place. The bathroom scales are now ready to use.SilverCrest SPWS 180 C1 English - 7 First use Switching on the bathroom scales / measuring weight Due to the step on power function, the bathroom scales are switched on automatically when you step on the tread (2) and they start to measure your weight immediately. A solid surface is required to measure weight correctly. Thus always place the bathroom scales on a solid, horizontal floor covering and never on carpet. This can distort the measurement result. To obtain comparable measurement results, you should always weigh yourself if possible at the same time of day (preferably in the morning). Always weigh yourself if possible under the same conditions: on an empty stomach, after having gone to the toilet and naked. The unit of weight is set to "kg". To change the language, press the language selection button (4) when the scales are switched on. The selected language is then indicated on the LCD display (1). The following languages are supported by the bathroom scales: Display Language FI Finnish SE Swedish DK Danish FR French NL Dutch Set the desired volume for the voice output via the volume control (5) In order to deactivate the voice output, turn the volume control (5) completely towards "-" until it snaps into place. Stand on the tread (2) of the bathroom scales so that your weight is evenly distributed. Remain as still as possible during the weighing process as the measurement result may be distorted otherwise. The measurement result is indicated on the LCD display (1) during the weighing process. The measurement is complete when the display flashes twice. The determined weight is also indicated via the voice output. In order to perform another measurement, you have to step off the tread (2) of the bathroom scales. Then wait until the LCD display (1) resets itself or the voice output confirms the operational readiness before stepping on the tread (2) again.SilverCrest SPWS 180 C1
Auto Power Off The bathroom scales have an automatic switch-off function (Auto Power Off function). The bathroom scales switch off automatically about 10 seconds after weighing yourself. Troubleshooting Nothing is indicated on the LCD display. The batteries are empty. Replace them with new batteries of the same type. Observe the instructions for inserting the batteries on page 6. You should step off the tread (2) of the bathroom scales immediately to avoid damaging the scales.SilverCrest SPWS 180 C1 English - 9 Maintenance / cleaning It is necessary to service the bathroom scales if they have been damaged in any way, for example, if the housing is damaged, if liquid or objects have penetrated the bathroom scales or if they have been exposed to rain or moisture. Servicing is also required if the scales are not working properly or have been dropped. If smoke is produced, or there are any unusual sounds or smells, remove the batteries immediately from the bathroom scales. In these cases, the bathroom scales should not be used until they have been inspected by authorised service personnel. Only have qualified personnel carry out the servicing on the device. Never open the housing of the bathroom scales. Only use a clean, dry cloth for cleaning and never use any corrosive liquids. Use a slightly moistened cloth and a mild cleaning agent to remove stubborn dirt. Environmental and disposal information When the crossed out wheelie bin symbol appears on a product, this indicates that the product is subject to the European Directive 2002/96/EC. All old electrical and electronic devices must be separated from normal household waste and disposed of at designated state facilities. The correct disposal of old devices in this manner will prevent environmental pollution and human health hazards. For further information about proper disposal, contact your local authorities, waste disposal office or the shop where you bought the device. Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally compatible manner. Cardboard can be put out for municipal paper collections or brought to public collection points for recycling. Films and plastic used for packaging the device are collected by your local disposal services and disposed of in an environmentally compatible manner. Disposal of batteries Remember to protect the environment. Used batteries should not be disposed of in household waste. They must be taken to a collection point for old batteries. Please note that only discharged batteries may be deposited in collection bins for portable batteries. Care must be taken to ensure that batteries that are not fully discharged do not short circuit. Warranty and servicing advice Warranty of TARGA GmbH Dear Customer, This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights towards the seller. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty as described below.
