Frequently Asked Questions - DCM1400B BLACK & DECKER

How do I set the time on the DCM1400B coffee maker?
Plug in the appliance. The display blinks '12:00 a.m.'. Press the HOUR button to set the hour (red dot indicates PM). Press MIN for minutes. The clock is set.
How do I program the brew time in advance?
Fill the water reservoir and coffee filter. Place the carafe. Press and hold PROG while pressing HOUR and MIN to set the brew time. Release PROG, then press AUTO. The AUTO indicator lights up.
What should I do if the coffee maker takes too long to brew?
This indicates mineral buildup. Perform descaling: pour white vinegar up to 4 cups and water up to 6 cups, brew half, let soak for 15 minutes, then finish brewing. Rinse with clean water.
How do I use the 'Sneak-A-Cup' pause feature?
During brewing, remove the carafe to pour a cup. Replace the carafe within one minute to avoid overflow. The coffee continues to drip.
Which parts are dishwasher safe?
The carafe, its lid, and the cone filter basket are dishwasher safe (top rack). The appliance itself should never be immersed.
How do I clean the inside of the reservoir cover?
Open the one-piece cover. Remove the water diffuser from the guide. Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth, then replace the diffuser and close.
Why does the coffee maker shut off after 2 hours?
It is an automatic safety feature to prevent overheating. You can also turn it off manually with the OFF button.
What should I do if the filter basket does not lock into place?
Align the tabs of the filter basket with the notches in the basket. Press down and turn while applying slight pressure until it locks. Otherwise, the brew pause will not work.
How do I get replacement parts?
Call 1-800-738-0245 to order parts such as the carafe (GC1400/GC1400B) or filter basket (DCM1400-02). Keep your receipt for warranty.
Can I use an extension cord with this coffee maker?
