Frequently Asked Questions - ED 140 HN ECG

How do I clean the ED 140 HN electric blanket?
First unplug the appliance and let it cool. Clean only by hand with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Avoid wetting the control and cable.
Can I use the blanket with thick bedding?
No, only place a thin cotton sheet on top. Duvets, blankets or other fabrics may cause overheating and damage the appliance.
What if the blanket stops heating?
First check that the power supply matches (220–240 V). If the light remains off, it may be a permanent protection triggered due to folding. In this case, do not repair yourself; contact customer service.
Can the blanket be used by children?
From 8 years with supervision. Not recommended for under 3 years as they cannot react to overheating. Do not let children play with the appliance.
How to store the blanket in summer?
Let it cool completely, fold carefully without twisting and store in a dry place. Do not place heavy objects on it to avoid damaging the conductors.
Can I use the blanket as a regular blanket?
No, it is designed as a heating pad placed under a sheet. Do not wrap yourself in it or use it as a regular blanket.
What does the indicator light mean?
The light indicates that the appliance is powered on. It lights up when the switch is on [1] or [2] and turns off on [0]. A faulty light does not affect heating.
Can I sleep with the blanket on all night?
Yes, by setting the control to position [1] (gentle heat). Position [2] is for preheating (30–50 minutes) and should not be used continuously.
Is the blanket suitable for adjustable beds?
Not recommended on an adjustable bed. If used, make sure it does not fold and the cable is not pinched. Folding can trigger permanent protection.
How to dispose of the blanket at end of life?
Do not throw it with household waste. Take it to a collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). Recycling helps preserve the environment.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Notes:

• Use only with control unit ED 80 (blankets ED 80 HN and ED 80 BE)
• Use only with control unit ED 140 (blankets ED 140 HN and ED 140 BE)
- When the heating blanket is folded, wrinkled, or is used in an inappropriate manner, it can cause overheating and subsequent activation of permanent protection. In such case it is necessary to send it to the manufacturer for repair. Do not try to repair the blanket on your own.
- If the grid voltage is lower than the voltage recommended to power the blanket, the temperature will rise very slowly and the heating capacity will be limited. It is not a malfunction of the heating blanket. Make sure that the blanket is powered by the recommended voltage.
- The indicator light and the electric circuit of the blanket are connected in parallel. The malfunction of the indicator therefore does not affect the ability of the blanket to generate heat.
- Use only as a heated underpad under the body. Do not use it as a covering blanket, for wrapping or in any other manner.

Preparation

  1. Lay the blanket on the bed and make sure that it is not creased or folded.
  2. Fasten the blanket to the bed or to the mattress by four tabs in the corners.
  3. You can spread over the blanket only a thin cotton bedsheet. Do not cover with a blanket or other material, which could cause overheating of the blanket and limit the heat transfer.
  4. Place the controller so that it could be easily accessible. Make sure that it is not hidden under a blanket or a pillow, etc. Do not place the controller close to other heat sources, to prevent overheating and damage.

Setting basic temperature:

  1. Connect the power cord of the blanket in the electric outlet 220\~240 V, 50/60 Hz. Move the switch on the controller in the position [2]. The control indicator comes on and the blanket starts to heat up. The heating lasts about 30–50 minutes. You can then move the switch as needed in the position [1] for comfortable

warmth when falling asleep or in the position [0] for complete shutoff of the heating (the control light goes off). If you want to use the blanket continually the whole night, move the controller in the position [1].

  1. Dual control: In the double version two people can operate the blanket independently according to their needs, without its setting influencing each other.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

So that you use the heating blanket always safely, pay attention to the following instructions:

- Check regularly that the blanket was not crumpled or wrinkled.

  • Prior to each use check the blanket for signs of wear or damage. Check the state of the power cord and the plug, and the state of the controller and of the blanket itself. If you are unsure whether the condition of the appliance allows its safe use, contact an authorized service center.
  • The heating conductor in the heating blanket should be evenly spread, without crossing or layering. Check by passing a hand over the blanket.
  • Do not allow the children to jump on the bed with spread heating blanket. If that already happened, check, if the blanket is not damaged.
  • In case of accident or damage (fire, burning by a cigarette, unusual sounds or smells) disconnect the blanket from the power supply immediately.

Cleaning

The blanket can be cleaned only manually. You cannot wash it in a washing machine and it cannot be cleaned chemically.

If you want to clean the blanket, disconnect it from power and let it cool down completely. Lay it on an even surface and clean it using a wet cloth. Make sure that the controller and the power cable do not get wet during cleaning. Then let it dry thoroughly. Do not use a dryer or a hair dryer. Do not try to speed up the drying by switching the blanket on!

Storing

Store the unused heating blanket in a dry place. Let the blanket cool down thoroughly before storing it. Do not place heavy objects on a folded heating blanket to prevent damaging it.
