Important safety information

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  ■ Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• The device must not be operated via an external timer or remote control.
• Clean all parts immediately after use and remove any food residue straight away.
  Follow the instructions in the "Cleaning and Care" section.
• The appliance is designed for indoor household use only.
• This device is intended to be used in household and similar applications, such as:

staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;

• farm houses;
• by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• bed and breakfast type environments.

The device is not intended for purely commercial use.

- WARNING: Charcoal or similar combustible fuels must not be used with this appliance.

Before use

Read the instruction manual carefully. It contains important information about the use, safety and care of the appliance. It should be kept in a safe place and passed on to subsequent users if necessary. The appliance may only be used for the intended purpose according to these operating instructions. Observe the safety information when using the appliance.

Additional safety information

• Only connect the appliance to earthed wall sockets that have been installed pursuant to regulations. The supply cable and plug must be dry.
• Place the appliance on a level and firm surface and ensure there is sufficient space all the way around the appliance.
  • Make sure that the drip tray is always correctly inserted during grilling.
• The grill plate (1) must be correctly positioned on the appliance otherwise the grill will not turn on.
  • Always pre-heat the grill plate before you place food on it.
• Attention: When the appliance is switched on, its touchable surfaces can get very hot and they also remain hot even after the appliance has been switched off!
  • Fat can spray out randomly when grilling. Therefore protect the table surface accordingly.
  • Always switch the appliance off after use and pull the mains plug out of the socket.
• Allow the appliance to cool down fully before you remove the grill plate and drip tray, clean the appliance and put it away.
  • Make sure that the grill plate is always repositioned correctly after it has been removed.
• We accept no liability for any damages caused as a result of misuse, incorrect operation or improper repairs. Claims under warranty are likewise excluded in such cases.

Use

You can cook lots of delicious food on the table-top grill. The grill plate is ideal for grilling food such as meat, sausages, vegetables and fish. If you want to scar or steam your vegetables separately, then the veggie frying pan supplied with the table grill is designed for just that. Place the veggie frying plan (6) on the non-ribbed part of the grill plate provided for this purpose (1).

Setting up and connecting

■ Remove all packaging from the appliance.
- Clean the appliance (see chapter "Cleaning and care").
- Set up the appliance on a stable and level surface near to a plug socket.

Starting up the appliance

• Insert the drip tray (3) into the base of the grill (2) (fig. C). The fat and meat juice collect in the drip tray (3).
• Place the grill plate (1) on the grill base (2). Make sure that the grill plate (1) is correctly positioned in the holder on the grill base (2). (Fig. A) Press the grill plate (1) down until you hear it lock into
• Now insert the mains plug into the socket. Turn the control knob (4) clockwise. As soon as the grill plate heats the LED ring at the control knob is on.
• Turn the control knob (4) to the highest level for five minutes to preheat the grill plate. Depending on the food you are grilling, you may then need to select a lower setting [see chapter "Grilling times").
• You can place the veggie frying pan (6) on the grill plate (1) while it is warming up to pre-heat it, though take care not to place the veggie frying pan (6) on the hot grill plate (1) when empty. This could damage the veggie frying pan (6).
• The veggie frying pan (6) is not intended for the stove.

Non-stick coating

Never touch the scratch-sensitive coating of the grill plate and veggie frying pan with sharp or pointed objects.

When using your new appliance for the first time there may be a little smoke or odour. This is for technical reasons and is perfectly normal.

Grilling times

Cut up the food you wish to grill into smaller pieces that are no thicker than 3 cm. Season meat before grilling, but add salt after grilling to help retain the juice. Small sausages, tender steaks, minced steaks, meat loaf and fish are ideal for cooking on the table-top grill. Sliced tomato, aubergine and pineapple are ideal for cooking on the table-top grill and are very tasty.

Pierce thick sausages before you grill them to prevent fat splashes. The cooking time depends on the type and thickness of the food. Never cut meat or other foods on the grill plate.

Grilling Times and temperature settings depend on the food being grilled and your own particular taste; the following values are therefore only guide values. Note: The specified times relate to the pure grilling/cooking times and do not include the time for pre-heating the grill plate.

Cleaning and care

• Unplug the mains plug and allow the appliance to cool down.
• Once the grill plate (1) is warm to the touch, use a piece of kitchen towel to remove as much fat and other residue from it as possible.
• To remove the grill plate (1), press the release button (5). The grill plate can be lifted out easily and removed from the base of the grill (2) (fig. B).
• Clean the grill plate (1) and the veggie frying pan (6) in lukewarm water using washing-up liquid and a washing-up brush.
  Note: Do not use abrasives, metal scourers or oven cleaner.
• Pull the drip tray (3) out of the grill base (2) (fig. C).
• Clean the drip tray (3) in lukewarm water using washing-up liquid and a washing-up brush. Note: Do not use abrasives, metal scourers or oven cleaner. For simple cleaning, you can also put the grill plate (1), the veggie frying pan (6) and drip tray (3) in a dishwasher.
• You must wipe the grill base (2) using a damp cloth and then dry it.
• Reassemble the appliance for storage. Store the appliance on a level and dry surface.

• This product is supplied with a 13 A plug conforming to BS 1363 fitted to the mains lead. If the plug is unsuitable for your socket outlets or needs to be replaced, please note the following. If the plug is a non-rewireable one, cut it from the mains lead and immediately dispose of it. Never insert it into a socket outlet as there is a very great risk of an electric shock.
• The replacement of the plug at the mains lead has to be done according to the following instructions:

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:

• the wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol ⊕ or coloured green or green and yellow,
• the wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked the letter N or coloured black.
• the wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.

- If a 13 A (BS 1363) plug is used it must be fitted with a 13 A fuse conforming to BS 1362 and be ASTA approved. If any other type of plug is used, the appliance must be protected by a 10 A fuse either in the plug or adapter or at the distribution board.

If in doubt - consult a qualified electrician.

- Never use the plug without closing the fuse cover.

The appliance complies with the European directives 2014/35/EC, 2014/30/EC and 2009/125/EC.

This product may not be disposed of with the normal household waste at the end of its service life but must be delivered to a collecting point for recycling electrical and electronic appliances. The materials are reusable in accordance with their identification. You will make an important contribution to the protection of our environment by recycling used appliances. Please ask about the responsible disposal point at your community offices.
