How to clean the kettle?

Clean the kettle only when it is cold. Unplug it, remove the filter and wash it under running water. Wipe the external surfaces with a damp cloth and a little dish soap. For the inside, use a cloth soaked in vinegar, then rinse with clean water.

What to do if the kettle does not turn on?

Check that the plug is properly inserted and that the outlet works. Make sure the lid is closed and the water level is sufficient (between min and max). If the dry boil protection has triggered, let the kettle cool down, fill it with water, and press the switch again.

How to descale the kettle?

Prepare a solution of vinegar (0.2 L) or citric acid (40 g) topped up with water to the max level. Bring to a boil, let it sit for 30 minutes, empty, rinse, then boil fresh water once. Also clean the filter under running water.

Why is the water not boiling?

Check that the kettle is switched on (switch in position I) and that the indicator lights up. Make sure the water level is sufficient and the lid is closed properly. Excessive limescale buildup can slow down boiling; perform descaling.

The kettle stops before boiling, what to do?

This may be due to the dry boil safety feature triggering if the kettle was turned on without water. Let it cool, fill with water, and switch on again. If the problem persists, check the water level (do not exceed max) and descale the appliance.

Can I boil something other than water?

No, the kettle is designed exclusively for boiling water. Using milk, soup, or other liquids can damage the appliance and void the warranty.

How to use the filter?

The anti-impurity filter (10) must be in place during use. It is placed in the kettle before filling with water. To clean it, remove it and wash it under running water. Put it back after drying.

The kettle has a plastic smell, is this normal?

Yes, the first few uses may emit a slight odor due to new materials. To eliminate it, boil water four times, renewing it each time, then clean the inside. The smell will then disappear.

Can I open the lid while boiling?

No, it is dangerous to open the lid while boiling: hot steam and water can spurt out. Wait until the water has stopped boiling and the kettle has cooled.

Where can I find spare parts?

Spare parts such as the anti-impurity filter are available from UFESA customer service or authorized dealers. Check the manual or the brand's website to order.

Safety precautions and instructions on the proper use of the electric kettle

Read this entire manual carefully before using the appliance.

DANGER! / WARNING! Health hazard

• Special attention should be kept when using the kettle in the presence of children.

- Do not operate the kettle if the power cord is damaged or if there is any visible damage to the kettle body.

- Do not plug the power cord with wet hands.

- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

- Only qualified staff may repair the appliance. Improper repair may cause a serious threat to the user. In case of any defects, contact an authorised service point.

- Do not touch the main body of the kettle when water is boiling – use only the handle to move it.

- Do not touch any hot surfaces of the kettle. Surfaces remain hot even after the device is switched off.

- Do not fill the kettle beyond the maximum fill indicator "max" – water might spatter out of the kettle.

- Be careful not to wet the plug of the power cord.

- Steam coming out of the kettle when the water is boiling may cause scalding.

- Allow the kettle to cool completely before cleaning.

- Do not open the lid while the water is boiling.

• Always remove the plug from the mains before cleaning the kettle.

- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

• Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and

knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

Children shall not play with the appliance.

• Only use the appliance indoors at room temperature and up to 2000 m above sea level.

CAUTION!

Not observance can result in damage to possessions

Always plug the appliance to the mains (AC only) with voltage corresponding to that indicated on the rating plate.

Always place the kettle on a stable, smooth, flat surface; the power cord must not hang loosely off the edge of a table (or any other work surface) or touch a heated surface.

Do not remove the plug from the mains by pulling by the cord.

This appliance is intended for indoor use only. Use the kettle for boiling water only.

Do not open the lid right after the water has boiled – steam might condense and appear on the exterior of the kettle.

Do not place the kettle on or near hot objects. Do not immerse the kettle in water when filling or washing.

If the internal electrical elements are flooded with water, make sure the kettle is completely dry before plugging in.

Do not operate the kettle when empty.

Do not use the kettle with the lid open – the automatic shut off will not work then.

Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents – such as emulsions, creams, pastes, etc. – for cleaning the kettle body. They might remove graphic information symbols, such as scales, marks, warning signs, etc.

The appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.

Preparing the kettle for operation

Before first use, wash the kettle inside (for washing instructions see the

"Cleaning and maintenance" section), fill it with water up to the "max" level, boil water four times (each time use fresh water) and wash the kettle inside again.

Operating the kettle

1 Remove the power cord from the clip (9).
2 Open the kettle lid (5).
3 Place the filter (10) in the kettle (if it is not in place).

4 Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (the level is visible on the indicator (3)).

Do not boil the water if it is below the minimum level or beyond the maximum level on the indicator (3).

5 Close the lid (5).
6 Plug the kettle to a socket provided with an earth pin.
7 Turn the kettle on by switching the on/off switch to position I — the power indicator lights.
8 Once the water is boiling, the kettle will automatically turn off and the switch returns to off position — the power indicator goes off.

Wait a few seconds before boiling water again.

Always unplug the kettle after use.

In the event that an empty kettle is switched on, it will be switched off automatically by a thermal device.

To use the kettle again once it has cooled down, pour water and turn on the kettle by pressing the on/off switch (6). The cooling down of the kettle can be accelerated by pouring cold water into the kettle.

Cleaning and maintenance

Always allow the kettle to cool down completely before cleaning!

1 Unplug the kettle from the mains.
2 Remove the filter (10) and rinse it under running water.
3 Clean the outside surfaces with a soft damp cloth and washing-up liquid.

In order to remove the build-up of hard water film from the outside and inside walls of the kettle, wipe them with a damp cloth and vinegar.

4 Rinse the kettle with fresh water.

Various black-coloured, rusty, milky, etc. deposits may form inside the kettle and float on the water. This is caused by

minerals occurring naturally in water (calcium, magnesium, iron, etc.). Such discoloration is not

caused by faulty operation of the appliance and does not affect its use. In case of substantial accumulation of mineral deposits, proceed as described in the "Descaling" section.

Descaling

In the event that scale builds up on the bottom of the kettle, it needs to be removed. For this purpose use 6-10% vinegar or citric acid.

• Open the kettle lid.
• Add 0.2 l of vinegar or 40 g of citric acid and fill the kettle with water up to the maximum level. Switch on the kettle.
• Bring the mixture to boil and allow the kettle to stand for 30 minutes.
  • Empty the kettle and rinse it with fresh water.
• Remove the filter (10) and rinse it under running water. Replace the filter.
• Fill the kettle with fresh water, boil the water and empty the kettle.
• If sediment is still visible in the kettle, remove it with a sponge and rinse the kettle again. If unsuccessful, repeat the descaling process.

The kettle should be descaled periodically to avoid its possible damage.

Disposal

Dispose of packaging in an environmentally-friendly manner. Our goods come in optimised packaging. This basically consists in using non-contaminating materials which should be handed over to the local waste disposal service as secondary raw materials.

This appliance is labelled in accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU concerning used electrical and electronic appliances (waste electrical and electronic equipment

- WEEE). The guideline determines the framework for the return and recycling of used appliances as applicable throughout the EU. Please ask your specialist retailer about current disposal facilities.
