IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDES

When using your electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric hazard and injury to persons, including the following.

  1. Read All Instructions.
  2. Do not touch hot surface. Use handles or buttons of control panel. The unit body will become very hot during long-time using, handle it carefully.
  3. CAUTION: To reduce the risk or electric shock, cook only in removable container.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  5. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug, or cooker body in water or other liquid.
  6. Do not add too much water beyond the edge of the porcelain inner pot, or the water will flow out during cooking.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDES

  1. DO NOT place unit on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  2. Do NOT add frozen food to ceramic cooking vessels when cooking vessels are HOT. DO NOT rinse with COLD water when ceramic cooking vessel is HOT.
  3. DO NOT uncover the lid when in cooking, otherwise the heat will run out and more cook time will be needed.
  4. To reduce the risk or electric shock, cook only in removable container. DO NOT cooking food directly in the Aluminum pot.
  5. DO NOT place the ceramic inner pot on gas stove.
  6. To avoid any cracks or spoilage that may bring to the slow cooker, proper maintenance is necessary.
  7. The appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding. Many accessory parts are contained within the packaging material.

USING YOUR APPLIANCE

This slow cooker has a total volume of 3X1.5QT including the lid capacity which can accommodate any solids above the liquid level. Do not fill liquids to the brim of the bowl; leave a minimum of 0.5cm between the rim where the lid sits and the top of the liquid.

  1. Clean thoroughly before use.
  2. Place the cooker housing on a stable, flat, heat resistant surface and away from surfaces that may be damaged by steam.
  3. After making reference to the food safety and general cooking advice, place the ingredients to be cooked into the removable bowl. Heat liquids such as water and stock before adding to the bowl and do not fill to the brim.
  4. Cover the bowl with the lid and place into the cooker housing.
  5. Fully unwind the cable, plug in and switch on. For your safety do not allow the cable to dangle over the edge of units.
  6. Press the knob switch, cooking function (low, medium, high or warm mode)
  7. When ready to serve and no further warming is required unplug the slow cooker.

HELPFUL HINTS

Thoroughly defrost frozen meat, poultry, fish and seafood in the refrigerator before cooking. Keep raw meat and poultry separate from cooked foods.

  • Always wash hands after handling raw meat and poultry, before handling any ready to eat foods.
  • Wipe and disinfect surfaces that have been in contact with raw meat and poultry.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Use separate utensils for handling raw meat/poultry and cooked food or wash them thoroughly between uses.
  • Slow cookers cook food at much lower temperatures than conventional cooking, always ensure that cooking times are adjusted for raw and chilled foods such as meat and poultry to ensure they are cooked until piping hot throughout.
  • To check whether meat, particularly poultry is cooked, use a temperature probe or pierce the flesh with a skewer or fork; the juices should run clear.

CLEANING YOUR APPLIANCE

  1. Switch off and unplug the slow cooker and allow cooling completely.
  2. Wash loose parts (removable bowl and lid) in hot water with a little washing up liquid. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Ceramic vessels and glass lids are safe for dishwasher.

Wipe the external surface of the slow cooker with a soft damp cloth and dry surfaces with a soft dry cloth. Do not use detergent or abrasives as these may scratch the surface. Never immerse the cooker housing in water.

Orange Chicken with Asparagus and Carrots

Orange juice and asparagus complement the heartiness of the dark chicken meat. Boneless, skinless thighs, available in most supermarkets, make this a healthy and tasty dish that the entire family will enjoy.

1/2 cup orange juice 2 cups chopped carrots

1/2 cup chicken stock 1 onion, chopped

2 tablespoons melted orange 2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken thighs(4 thighs) marmalade

1/4 tsp. Kosher salt 3 tablespoons brown stone ground mustard

1/4 tsp. red pepper 1 tablespoons sour cream

2 lbs. skinny asparagus spears. trimmed to 5"

  1. Rinse chicken, pat dry and set aside.
  2. Place the orange juice, chicken stock, orange marmalade, salt and pepper into the cooking pot. Stir well to combine.
  3. Add the vegetables to the bottom of the cooking pot: asparagus, carrots and onion.
  4. Place the chicken pieces on top of the vegetables. Cover and cook on LOW for 10 hours or on HIGH for 8 hours.
  5. At the end of the cooking time, drain the liquid from the slow cooker.
  6. Chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces or shred using 2 forks. Place chicken back into the cooking pot.
  7. Place liquid into a saucepan, add mustard and reduce until thickened. At the very end of the cooking time, add the sour cream and stir until warmed.
  8. Pour sauce over the chicken in the Slow Cooker's cooking pot and stir well.

Mushroom Beef Stroganoff

2 lbs. beef top round, thin sliced
6 tablespoons flour
2 cubes mushroom bullion
2 cups boiling water
3 carrots(1-1/2 cups) fine diced

1/4 onion fine diced

4 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced

1/4 tsp. oregano

1/4tsp. rosemary

1 bay leaf

8 oz. sour cream salt

egg noodles, cooked

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Cut beef into strips.
  2. Place flour in a plastic freezer bag.
  3. Add beef to the bag and shake until the meat is lightly coated with flour.
  4. Dissolve bullion in boiling water.
  5. Add all ingredients except sour cream to the cooking pot. Cover and cook on Low for 8-10 hours or on HIGH for 6-8 hours. Remove and discard bay leaf.
  6. 30 minutes before serving, add sour cream to the cooking pot. Stir to mix well.
  7. Reduce heat to LOW. After 30 minutes, turn heat down to WARM. Add salt to taste.
  8. Serve beef stroganoff over egg noodles.
