Important safety instructions ∙ In order to avoid hazards, and to comply with safety requirements, repairs to this electrical appliance or its power cord must be carried out by our customer service. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to our customer service department (see appendix). ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean, or immerse the motor housing in any kind of liquid. ∙ The blender jug, lid and stopper, grinding top and blade unit can be cleaned in hot soapy water. ∙ For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care. ∙ Caution: The blades used in this appliance are extremely sharp. To prevent injuries, take special care when cleaning the appliance and when emptying the blender jug. ∙ Caution: Do not put hot liquid GB11 into the blender jug. ∙ Extra care is required when pouring hot liquids into the blender jug in case a jet of vapour escapes from the appliance. ∙ Put only small quantities of liquid (eg oil for pesto) into the grinding top. ∙ Caution: Any misuse can cause severe personal injury. ∙ Always switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the wall socket, - when there is no supervision, - before opening the lid, - before removing or fi tting the blender jug or grinding top, - in case of any malfunction during use, - before cleaning, - after use. ∙ When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. ∙ This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as the - staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments, - agricultural working environments, - by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation, - in bed-and breakfast type environments. ∙ The appliance may only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children. ∙ Children must not be permitted12 to play with the appliance. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fi tted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. ∙ The appliance should only be placed on a level surface. Do not allow the housing or its power cord to come into contact with open fl ames or any hot surfaces such as hot-plates. ∙ Do not let the power cord hang free. ∙ Do not touch any moving parts during operation - this can be extremely dangerous. ∙ No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. Before using for the fi rst time Before the appliance is used for the fi rst time, the blender jug, lid and stopper, grinding top and blade assembly should be thoroughly cleaned, as described in the section Cleaning and care. Switch settings The following settings can be selected: P The appliance remains switched at high speed on as long as the rotary switch is held in this position 0 The appliance is switched off I Low power II Maximum power Short-term operation The appliance is designed to process average domestic quantities of food; it can be operated without interruption for a maximum of 3 minutes with the blender jug, or up to 30 seconds with the grinding top, after which it should be allowed to cool down to room temperature. Safety switch A special safety switch in the motor housing ensures that the appliance can only be operated if the blender jug or grinding top is properly locked in position. Before removing either of these, make sure that the rotary control is in position 0. This also applies when fi tting the blender jug or grinding top to the motor housing. If the control is not in its off-position (0), the motor will start immediately. Multi-mixer operation ∙ Fit the blender jug to the motor housing, with its handle to the right, in such a way that the two triangle symbols are aligned. ∙ Put the liquid ingredients into the blender jug. The jug has a maximum capacity of 1000 ml. To avoid possible foaming or spilling when processing foamable or thin liquids such as milk, do not fi ll the jug over the 700 ml mark.13 ∙ Replace the lid so that the spout is completely covered. ∙ The lid must be fi tted at all times whenever the mixer is operated. ∙ To add ingredients during operation, the stopper in the centre of the lid can be removed. Do not put any objects into the blender jug while the appliance is operating. ∙ Insert the plug into the wall outlet and use the rotary control to select the required power setting. ∙ Caution: Do not operate when the blender jug is empty. Do not fi ll it with dry items only, such as nuts, almonds etc. ∙ After using the blender, switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket. Wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before removing the blender jug. Using the multi-mixer to crush ice Ice-cubes can be easily crushed in the blender jug: Fill the jug a quarter full with ice cubes, and then fi t it to the motor housing, as described in the section Multi-mixer operation. Put on the lid with the stopper in place, and use the pulse function (P) to operate the appliance for about 2 seconds. Wait until the ice cubes have collected in the bottom of the jug again and then repeat the process, until the cubes have been reduced to the required size. Grinding top operation ∙ The grinding top is useful processing spices, and for preparing pesto, dips and purées. ∙ Cut the food to be processed into small pieces and then put it into the grinding top. ∙ Observe the maximum marking when putting in the food. Do not overfi ll. ∙ Caution: Do not operate the appliance when it is empty. ∙ Fit the blade unit in the grinding top and turn it anti-clockwise all the way to lock it. ∙ Turn the grinding top over and fi t it to the motor housing so that the two arrow marks are aligned. ∙ Then turn it clockwise until it is heard locking into place. ∙ Insert the plug into a suitable outlet and use the rotary control to select the desired speed setting or the pulse function (P). ∙ Remove the plug from the wall socket after grinding. Wait until the motor has come to a complete standstill before removing the grinding top and the blade unit. Wind-up power cord storage The power cord can be wound up for storage on the underside of the unit. Unwind it completely before operation. Cleaning and care ∙ Always remove the plug from the wall socket before cleaning the appliance. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the motor housing or the power cord with water and do not immerse them in water. The motor housing may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. ∙ Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or hard brushes for cleaning. ∙ Cleaning the blender jug: To clean immediately after use, fi ll the blender jug with around 700 ml of warm water and a little detergent. Let the appliance run for a short period as described in the section Operation. Then14 rinse the jug, lid and stopper in fresh water. ∙ If necessary, the sealing gasket on the blender jug lid can be removed for cleaning. Before the appliance is used again, the gasket must be replaced. ∙ If required, the blade unit for the blender jar can be detached for cleaning: fi rst remove the collar under the jar by turning it clockwise (see pic. A), and lift out the blade unit (pic. B). Caution: The blades are extremely sharp. The gasket in the blender jug cannot be removed. Clean the blade unit with a suitable brush. Wipe the gasket with a moist cloth. To re-assemble, place the blade unit on the gasket, fi t the collar and lock it by turning it counter-clockwise all the way, observing the markings on the collar). ∙ Cleaning the grinding top: The grinder top and blade unit can be cleaned in hot water and a little detergent. ∙ Caution: Neither of these parts are dishwasher-safe. Multi-mix recipes Iced coffee 200 ml cold coffee 100 ml milk (1,5%) 2 tsp dark bitter chocolate, grated 1 tsp caramel sauce 3 ice cubes 1 scoop vanilla ice Put all the ingredients into the blender jug and start mixing them at setting II. The result may be sweetened with sugar, according to taste. Banana chocolate milk-shake 1 banana 400 ml chilled milk 2-3 EL chocolate sauce 4 scoops chocolate ice-cream Peel the banana, cut it into small pieces and puree fi nely together with the milk. Add the chocolate sauce and ice-cream and mix briefl y.
