USER MANUAL ST16.EU Bimar

Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and instruct other persons using it, too, when necessary. Keep booklet handy for further use.

If when reading this instructions manual certain parts should remain difficult to understand, or if there is any confusion, contact the company indicated on the last page before using the product.

WARNING

  • This appliance is for use only in the aspiration of cold ashes from fireplaces or stoves, temperature of which should not be above 50^ . Any other parts or residue picked up must be of small dimensions, and in any case cold, not exceeding the temperature of 50^ . The appliance must be used according to the instructions given in this booklet. It has been designed for domestic use and is not suitable for professional use.

This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

  • staff kitchen in shops, offices and other working environments;
    -farm houses
  • by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
  • bed and breakfast type environments

  • It isn't suitable for boilers or fuel oil stoves. Any other use is to be considered inappropriate and therefore dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for eventual damage caused by inappropriate, improper or irresponsible use and/or for repairs made to the product by unauthorised personnel.

  • The appliance must be used only and exclusively when all its parts (motor unit, filter, flexible hose, extension, etc.) are assembled correctly.
  • The suction inlet must be kept far from all parts of bodies and clothes to prevent damage to persons or animals.
  • Do not pick up hot ash or burning embers, or anything hotter than 50^ .
  • Do not aspire plaster powder or cement dust.
  • Do not pick up burning matches or cigarettes.
  • Do not aspire liquids.
  • Do not aspire inflammable or corrosive products, or solvents.
  • Do not pick up heavy or sharp objects such as screws, needles, nails, etc.
  • Do not obstruct the suction inlet or the air outlet.
  • Do not use the appliance if its parts are damp or wet.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
  • Do not use the appliance in the open and do not leave it exposed to the weather (sun, rain, etc.), never use it close to tubs or containers of liquids, etc., to prevent drops falling on the appliance and the risk of its falling into the liquid. If this should happen, never put hands in the liquid but always

remove the plug from the power socket. Dry all parts of the appliance accurately before switching on again and if in doubt, have it checked by a professionally qualified expert.

  • Attention: when using electric appliances, the basic safety precautions must always be observed to avoid risks of fire, electric shocks and physical injury.
  • Unplug the appliance when not in use.
  • That the user must not leave the appliance unattended while it is connected to the supply.
    The fireguard of this heater is intended to prevent direct access to heating elements and must be in place when the heater is in use, but the fireguard does not give full protection for young children and for infirm person.

  • Never use the radiator to dry damp garments.
  • Do not expose the heater to the weather (sun, rain, etc.).

INSTALLATION

  • After removing the packing materials, check the integrity of the heater; if you are unsure, do not use it and ask for qualified professional help. The packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene foam, nails, etc.) must be kept out the reach of children because they are potential sources of danger.
  • Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage shown on the data plate matches that of your electricity and that the electric plug is grounded. In the event of incompatibility between the electric outlet and the plug of the heater, have the outlet replaced with another more suitable type by professionally qualified personnel, who will make sure that the section of the wires of the outlet is appropriate for the absorbed power of the heater (10A). Check that the mains are not connected equipment; high absorption to prevent overloading and fire risks In general, the use of adapters or extension cords is not recommended; if their use is indispensable, they must conform to existing safety standards and their current capacity (amperes) must not be less than the maximum of the heater.
  • The power socket must be easy to reach so the plug can be removed quickly in case of emergency.
  • The appliance must be positioned on a stable and ample surface (NOT shelves or steps), on a perfectly horizontal plane (otherwise the appliance could tip).
  • Make sure the electric cable is positioned correctly and not in contact with hot parts or sharp edges, nor wound around the appliance, twisted or trapped in any way, so the appliance cannot fall. Make sure it cannot be tripped over, to avoid accidental falls or personal injury. Make sure that the cable does not pass under a carpet or under the appliance itself.
  • Do not use the appliance with a timer or a programmer or with a system that can switch on the appliance automatically, to avoid risk of fire, since a fire risk exists if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly. Check that no other high absorption appliances are connected to the same power source.
  • In the case of a breakdown or fault, switch off the appliance and have it checked by a professionally qualified technician; repairs made by unqualified persons can be dangerous and render void the warranty.

USE (see figures 1-2-3)

Warning: the appliance can be used only when completely and correctly mounted in all its parts, as described. If in doubt, have the appliance checked or operated by professionally qualified persons.

Warning: to operate only with a properly mounted the filter and tens filter ring.

Each time before use, check that the appliance is in good state, that the electric cord is not damaged: if the feed cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer or the technical assistance service and in any case by a qualified technician, to ensure there are no risks.

  1. Unhook the motor unit (part 5) from the drum by means of the relative hooks.

  2. Remove all the accessories inside the drum: filters, flexible hose, aluminium pipe and castings (instruction book, service center list and guarantee card).

  3. (see fig.2) Fasten the motor filter (part 9) onto the drum, check that the hard plastic ring is housed perfectly on the perimeter of the drum.

  4. (see fig.3). Place the tens filter ring inside the filter.

  5. Hook the motor unit onto the drum, paying attention that the hooks coincide with the notches on the external part of the cover.

  6. Insert the aluminium pipe in the other end of the flexible hose.

7a. For suction: connect the flexible hose to the suction inlet on the drum (part

3), turning the hose connection anticlockwise until it locks into place.

To collect ashes: keep the pipe at about 1 cm from the ashes. Please note that suction diminishes when the drum is almost full, so make sure it is emptied regularly.

7b. For blowing: connect the flexible hose to the blowing outlet on the drum (part 10), turning the hose connection clockwise until it locks into place.

  1. Check that the switch is in "0" position (off), unwind the electric cord and insert the plug in the power socket.

  2. Switch on the appliance by pressing the switch to position "T" (on).

  3. To switch off the appliance, press the switch to position "0" (off) and remove the plug from the socket.

Attention: The appliance is not switched off completely until the plug has been removed from the socket.

  1. Wind up the electric cord and put away the appliance.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Attention: before cleaning the fan heater, turn it off, remove the plug from the outlet and wait for it to cool.

  • For more efficient use and longer life of the appliance, the bin should be emptied and the filter cleaned regularly. To do so:

  • release the motor unit from the bin, empty the ashes, and clean the bin: if water is used, dry the bin carefully before re-assembling the appliance. To clean the motor filter, shake it and clean carefully with a brush. If water is used, make absolutely sure that it is completely dry before re-assembling the appliance.

  • Check regularly that the flexible hose is not obstructed by any large pieces that could become trapped inside. If necessary, they can be removed by bending the hose or using a rod of suitable measure.

  • The motor unit must be cleaned with a dry cloth: do not use steel wool or abrasive products.
    NEVER wet it or immerse in water.

  • Check regularly that the electric cable is in good condition, that there are no abrasions or breaks in its covering, or other: if it needs to be replaced, call an authorised technical assistance centre or a professionally qualified expert.

  • If you decide not to use the fan heater, we recommend that you make it inoperative by cutting the power cord (but first make sure you have removed the plug from the electrical outlet), and make those parts harmless that are dangerous when played with by children.

At the end of its working life, the product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to a dealer providing this service.
