Frequently Asked Questions - KPTSTL Panduit

What air pressure should I use for the KPTSTL tool?
The recommended air pressure is 5.2 bar (75 PSIG), with a maximum of 6.2 bar (90 PSIG). Higher pressure may damage the tool or produce unsatisfactory results.
How do I adjust the tie tension?
Turn the tension adjustment knob to the desired value on the scale. Ranges are: 0-3 for MIN, 3-5 for INT, 6-8 for STD. For fine adjustment, turn the adjustment knob left or right.
What should I do if the tool does not work?
First, check that the compressed air supply is connected and the quick coupler is properly attached. Also ensure the air pressure is sufficient (at least 4.8 bar).
The tool does not cut the cable tie, what should I do?
This may be due to too low air pressure, the tool at the end of its stroke, or a broken or worn blade. Check the pressure, release and then squeeze the trigger, or replace the blade (ref. KGTSBLD).
The gripper does not return to the initial position, how to fix?
A tie remnant may be stuck. Depressurize the tool and hold the trigger down to activate it. Gently remove the debris from the nose, then release the trigger safely.
What daily maintenance is required?
Check and clean the blade and gripper area daily to remove any dirt or tie residue. Also check the cut quality and tie positioning.
The cable tie is loose after installation, why?
Possible causes: tension set too low, tool held at an angle, tool improperly positioned, or tool pulled during the cycle. Check the tension setting, hold the tool at 90° to the harness and keep it steady.
The cable tie breaks during installation, what should I do?
The tension force is probably too high. Reduce the tension by turning the adjustment knob to a lower value.
Can I use oil or lubricants in the compressed air?
No, the compressed air must be free of oil and lubricants. Only lubricants recommended by the manufacturer are allowed, but for the PTS, no additives are necessary.
What safety precautions should I take?
Always wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Do not place your fingers near the nose during operation. Disconnect the tool before changing accessories. Do not use the tool in an explosive atmosphere.
