Children shall not play with the appli- ance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

2. Children of less than

3 years should be kept away unless conti- nuously supervised.

3. Children aged from 3

years and less than 8 years shall only swith on/off the appliance provided that it has been placed or installed in its intended normal operating position and they have been given supervision or instruc- tion concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

4. Children should be

supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

5. Keep the appliance out

of the reach of child- ren.

6. Connect appliance only

to an AC power supply with voltage correspon- ding to the voltage on the rating plate.

7. Do not operate this

appliance with an exter- nal timer or remote control system.

8. Never immerse the

appliance or the power cord in water or other liquids.

9. The base should never

come into contact with water or other liquids. In case this ever hap- pens, it must be com- pletely dry before ope- rating the appliance again.

10. Do not clean the elec-

tric kettle in a dish- washer.

11. Never touch the appli-

ance or power cord with wet hands.

12. This appliance is inten-

13. For safety reasons,

never place the appli- ance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet sur- face.

14. Do not place the appli-

ance or power cord near open flames during operation.

15. Always use the elec-

tric kettle on a level, uncluttered and heat- resistant surface.

16. Make sure that the

power cord does not hang over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.

17. Route the power cord so

that there is no possi- bility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.

18. Never wrap the power

cord around the appli- ance; instead, use the power cord storage compartment on the bottom of the base.

as cans or bottles in the electric kettle.

22. Make sure that the lid of

the appliance is always completely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.

appliance if there is no water in the kettle.

ance as long as it is in operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.

28. The electric kettle fea-

tures boil dry protec- tion, which means the appliance shuts off automatically if the heating element beco- mes too hot. Allow the appliance to cool about 15 minutes. Then fill the electric kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactiva- ted and the appliance is ready for operation again.

29. Do not use the appli-

ance with accessories of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.

30. Unplug the appliance

from the power supply after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unatten- ded when it is plugged in to the power supply.

31. Check the appliance,

the plug and the power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, ple- ase send the appliance or the base for ins- pection and repair to our after sales service. Unauthorized repairs can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.

32. If the supply cord is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manu- facturer or its service agent or a similarly qua- lified person in order to avoid a hazard. Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de20 CAUTION: Do not open the lid while the water is boiling. If the kettle jug is filled beyond its maximum capacity, boiling water can splash out. The appliance becomes very hot during operation and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection. Never open the housing of the appliance. This can result in electric shock. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties. BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME

1. Remove all packaging materials

and any transport safety devices. Keep packaging materials away from children – danger of suffo- cation!

2. Clean all parts with a damp

cloth, as described in the chapter “Cleaning and care”.

cord to the power supply (220– 240 V~, 50/60 Hz).

the ON/OFF button. The control lamp at the bottom of the handle will turn on.

card the water from the first boi- ling. OPERATION

1. Remove the kettle from the base

2. Fill the kettle with at least

0.5 liters of water (“Min” mar-

3. Close the lid by pressing lightly

until it locks into place. The locking mechanism prevents the lid from opening accidentally when pouring water.

function works only if the lid is properly closed.

9. If you want to boil more water,

please allow the appliance to cool off for a few minutes.

10. The appliance features boil dry

protection. When operated wit- hout water or with excessive sca- ling, the appliance shuts off auto- matically. If this happens, please allow the appliance to cool off briefly before filling it with water again or descale the appliance as described in the chapter “Desca- ling”.

11. The power cord storage compart-

ment is on the bottom of the base. It is used for storing the power cord or to effectively shorten the length of the cord. Boiling water can cause scalding. The- refore, please handle the appliance with care when it contains hot water. The appli- ance becomes very hot during operati- on and maintains the heat during some time after disconnection.

Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.

cord or kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dish- washer.

2. Wipe off the base and the kettle

1. To keep the appliance operating

efficiently and to prolong its ser- vice life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hard- ness of your water.

2. Use off-the-shelf descaling pro-

ducts for electronic kettles and comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. To descale, fill the kettle half full, maximum, other- wise the liquid can boil over and can cause severe injuries.

3. Heat the liquid (do not boil!) and

allow it to sit for some time in the electronic kettle.

Copyright UNOLD AG | www.unold.de23 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS We grant a 24 months guarantee, and in case of commercial use a 12 months guarantee, starting from the date of purchase for any damage demonstrably due to manufacturing defects and when the appliance has been used according to its intended use. Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option. Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the re- sponsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs only in Germany and Austria. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
