This machine is a domestic portable electro-hydraulic drive wood cleaving machine to be used on a working desk. The machine components are shown in Figure 1.

Introduction
Our wood cleaving machines have been designed and built in conformity with the latest European safety standards, particularly with EN 609. The operator shall be obliged to instruct the personnel efficiently. The manufacturer shall not be held liable for any personal or material losses incurred in result of non-observation of instructions contained herein, unqualified use of the machine, removal of factory and instruction plates, removal or replacement of protection and safety regulations and otherwise hazardous acts. Alterations of the machine should be done by authorised personnel only. The instruction manual should be considered an integral part of the machine and should be kept handy for reference.

General Safety Instructions
Prior to the initial use of the unit, the operating instructions should be read completely. If in doubt with regard to connection and operation of the unit, consult the manufacturer (servicing department).
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW CAREFULLY IN ORDER TO SECURE A HIGH DEGREE OF SAFETY:
Caution: Always operate with FI (stray current protection switch)!
- Switch off and unplug the machine if it is out of use.
- Observe the manufacturer's instructions.
- Always check the power cable for perfect condition. If found damaged, have it repaired by a professional.
- The machine should not be exposed to weather effects, rain and snow.
- Do not unplug by pulling the cable or the machine.
- Prevent children or unauthorised persons from using the machine.
- Only one person may operate the machine.
- Do not leave the machine switched unattended as it may be cause of risks.
- Make sure that other persons are kept at a distance from the machine.
- Your workplace should provide flat and firm floor surface that sufficient freedom of movement is secured.
- For the sake of safety at bringing blocks in and out, it is necessary to exclude any hazard of stumbling on the access routes.
- Sufficient lighting of the workplace must be provided
- Never wear garments with buttons or loose clothing as you could be caught by moving parts.
- Use a power cable of diameter of 2.5mm^2 . Never work using exposed or purely insulated connections. The connections should always be of insulated and outdoor-sealed material. Use an extension cable 10 m long as a maximum, cables that are too long of inappropriate diameter may cause a power cut. For this reason, the motor cannot work at full.
- The machine and the cable should never get in touch with water.
- Never open the body of the motor switch. If it is necessary, consult an electrician.
- The machine should not be used in the area of natural gas, petrol or flammable vapours.
Emergency Action
Apply the first aid adequate to the injury and get qualified medical assistance as quickly as possible. Protect the injured person from more accidents and calm him/her down.

Assigned Use
The block splitting machine is designed solely fore splitting the cut firewood, pieces 52cm long as a maximum.
This machine should be used for any works other than those it has been designed for as described in this manual.
The manufacturer should not be held liable for any personal and material losses due to a failure to observe these rules.

Operator Requirement
The operator shall read the instruction manual carefully before using the unit.
Qualification
No special qualification is required for use of the unit except for detailed direction by a professional.
Minimum Age
Only persons above 18 years of age are allowed to work with the unit.
Exempted from the provision is the use of the juvenile trainees if they work in the course of their professional training with an aim to obtain the skill under a trainer supervision.
Training
Use of the unit requires adequate lesson by a professional or the use of the manual only. Special training is not required.

Transportation and Storage
Transport wheels are fitted on the block splitting machine. To move the machine, grip the machine transporting handle and lift the front of the machine. Thus the machine may be moved with ease.
Air-relief screw on the rear side of the machine has to be in to prevent oil leakage during the transport.
The splitting blade will retract automatically in its original position.
Safety Instructions for the First Putting in Operation
Functioning of the splitting machine has to be checked prior to getting down to the work.
The thermal cut out will switch on motor overloading and switch the machine off. If that is the case, let the machine cool down for 15 minutes and start again after the time.

- There is a de-aerating screw (14) on the rear of the machine, whenever you use the machine, release it by ca 4 turns. When transporting the machine, the screw should be fully tightened to avoid oil leakage.
Use only on a power connection equipped with a faulty current switch (FI). In cold weather, have the machine warmed up at idling until the oil gets warmed up (or, have several idling runs).
Motor overloading or electric installation different from the purpose will result in protective fuse blow up or a response of the faulty current protection switch FI: that being the case, a qualified electrician should be called.
Stock Size
The stock diameter is shown as an example. It may be difficult to cleave/split a small stock, if it is knappy. Notice: If a stock is not to be chopped up immediately, it is important that the cleaving pressure is not applied for too long. That would cause fast overheating of the oil under pressure and consequent damages to the pump.
Operator Safety Instructions
- Do not use the machine until you have read the instruction manual carefully.
- Observe any safety instructions included in the manual.
- Be responsible to the others
- The wood should be split along the grain only.
There is a risk of jamming the knaggy material while being split. Remember that the wood is under considerable pressure when being taken out and may nip your finger in the gap. - Check to see that all iron parts that are hopping and could damage the machine while the job is being done have been removed from the piece to be worked. The ends of the stems have to be cut square. Any knags have to be cut off completely.
- Never cleave the stocks, the size of which is beyond the limits determined, it could cause injuries and damage to the machine.
- The wood should be cleaved along the grain. Never put a stock across the machine and never work it in such a position; it could cause injuries and damage to the machine.
In no case cleave two stocks at a time. One of them could rebound and hit the operator!
If the stock slides down of the knife, pull the stock thrust device back and turn the stock by 180^ - Do not operate the wood cleaving machine at full for more than 10 - 15 seconds, e.g. holding the cylinder pressed down or cleaving hard material. That would result in fast overheating the oil and causing damage to the machine subsequently. It is recommended to turn the stock by 180^ and to try to work it in the position. If it is not possible to split up the stock, discard it, to avoid damage to the machine.
- Given unfavorable conditions in the power supply the equipment may cause the voltage to drop temporarily.
If the supply impedance Z at the connection point to the public power supply exceeds 0,233 EN 61000-3-11 it may be necessary to take further measures before the equipment can be used as intended from this power supply.
If necessary, you can ask your local electricity supply company for the impedance value.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Connect the motor wood-cleaving machine to the power.
- Connecting the power cable, mind that it is not let via a telescopic bearer or close to the cleaving knife. Also, avoid any places where a risk of damage or disruption exists.
- Place the stock on the bearer. The guides will assist you in keeping the stock at the centre of the knife. If the stock does not fit tightly, it should be turned.
- Push the motor control button with your LH (Fig. 1/F) to the stop and control the steering lever (Fig. 1/C) with your RH at the same time.
The sliding desk (FIG. 1/B) will go forward, pushing the stock through the knife.
The switch contact could be destroyed if the button is not pushed to the stop. Notice: Always push the switching button completely!
- If the stock is not split up immediately, hold the cylinder on. Pull the stock sliding device back and try again. A small stock may be difficult to work if it is knaggy and fibrous. With wood of regular fibrous composition, it will not be difficult to work stock of larger diameter. If the wood is very hard, the stock should be left for machine working to avoid damage.
- Repeat the operation with pre-cut shorter pieces of wood.
- With the work completed, the machine should be unplugged. Do not unplug pulling the cable.
Notice: The motor metal part is cold during the operation. In several working hours, the pump may get very hot. It is not harmful to the machine as it may work again after cooling down. It is very important not to overheat the oil and the pump when working large or hard stock.

Inspections and Maintenance
Prior to any maintenance, the machine should be put out of operation and unplugged, if it is an electric drive machine. The maintenance not described in this manual should be done by skilled personnel only as the operator is not ready to handle the situations that may arise. Scheduled maintenance and replacement of parts should be done by special personnel only.
The manufacturer should not be held liable for any personal and material losses due to a failure to observe these rules.

- Make sure that the motor bearer is completely retracted.
- Remove the screwed closure (Fig. A).
- Put a collecting tub of approximate volume of 4 litres under the cleaving machine.
- Tilt the machine for the oil to pour out (Fig. B).
- Tilt the cleaving machine in the other direction (Fig.3) and fill 2.6 l of oil in the filler hole
- Use the oil level indicator - previously cleaned - and check the oil level. It should be between the two marks on the indicator.
- Clean the closure and the screw and close again.
NOTICE:
The used oil should be disposed of in conformity with the locally effective legal regulations.
Check the oil level using an oil level indicator on a regular basis.
Cleaving Knife Sharpening
Sharp the cleaving knife using a file on a regular basis. Remove any sharp edges and depressions
Tip:
Grease the cleaving knife with multipurpose grease on a regular basis. It will decrease the stress and sometime, even the difficult to work stock may be cleaved.
Inspections and Maintenance Safety Instructions
The machine will serve as a sufficient aid only if maintained and care for appropriately. Insufficient maintenance and care may result in accidents and injuries.

Troubles and Troubleshooting
Jammed Stock Release
- Have the sliding bench going back to the stop and while doing so, start the steering device.
- Put a pre-cut wooden wedge across the jammed stock.
Now, move the sliding bench to push the wooden wedge under the jammed stock completely. - If it is impossible to release the jammed stock in this way, use the wooden wedge a tad bigger. Then move the bench until the stock is released.
NOTICE:
- Do not have a third person assisting in releasing the jammed stock.
- Never attempt crushing the jammed stock by means of a tool. The motor block could crack in that way.
- All the safety regulations included in Chapter "General Safety Regulations", p.4 shall apply to any action described above. The manufacturer shall not be held liable for any personal and material damage caused by unauthorised use of machine or a failure to observe safety regulations.
