SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS General Information This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years. Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Do not immerse the appliance or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is danger to life due to electric shock! Children shall not play with the appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent orsimilarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. Regarding the instructions for cleaning the surfaces which come in contact with food, please refer to the paragraph “cleaning and maintenance” of the manual. There is a potential risk of injuries from misuse. The heating element surface is subject to residual heat after use. Read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place. Only use the appliance as described in this manual. Don’t use the appliance if the power cord is damaged, in case of damage caused by failure of not living up to this manual the warranty will decay immediately. In case of problems please return the appliance to this service. Electricity and heat Before use, check that the mains power supply voltage is the same as the voltage indicated on the appliance. Always plug the appliance into an earthed plug socket. Regularly check the power cord for damage. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to manufacturer or the nearest authorized service agent for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord. Make sure the power cord does not come into contact with hot surfaces or steam. Always remove the plug from the plug socket before you move the appliance. Using the appliance The use of accessory attachment not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. Only use the appliance indoors, in dry areas away from water. Remove all packaging from the appliance. Clean the appliance, see 'Cleaning and Maintenance'. The first time, switch the coffee maker on with a full water reservoir but without coffee, in accordance with the procedure in ‘Using the appliance’, in order to clean the appliance. The filter reservoir must be engaged; otherwise the pass-through valve might not be open. Connect the mains plug to an appropriate wall outlet and start brewing coffee by pressing the Power ON/OFF switch. If you leave the device switched on, the tray will keep the coffee warm after finishing brewing. The whole working process will last 40 minutes. After 40 minutes the unit will be automatically shut off and stop working. You can manually press the power switch again to switch on the appliance. Note: If there is no need to preserve heat, please press the power switch to have the indicator light extinguished. The unit will stop working. CAUTION! Do not put an empty jug back on the hot warming tray.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

Before cleaning the appliance, always switch it off, unplug it from the electricity supply and allow it to cool down completely.   • Within the warranty period any defects in production or material will be resolved free of charge, by means of reparation, replacement of parts or replacement of the appliance as a whole.
  • The warranty certificate has to be filled in by the sales person at the moment of purchase.
  • Repairs will only be made under warranty in case it can proven (by means of a filled in warranty card and the receipt) that the day the complaint is filed falls into the warranty period.
  • The warranty does not apply when defects or damages result from an accident, misuse, negligence (e.g. incorrect cleansing), or when repairs of alterations have been executed outside the authorized TOMADO service centre (excl. disassembling, as stated in the instruction manual).
  • The warranty does not cover any defects arising when the appliance is connected to the wrong outlet voltage, not following the guidelines in the instruction manual and usual wear and tear.
  • The warranty does not cover any defects arising from the lack of frequent descaling of appliances, whatever type of water has been used (especially for steam irons, coffee machines and water boilers).
