General safety instructions

Risk of burns!
- Never touch the kettle (7) during or immediately after operation. Only hold or carry the kettle (7) using the handle (8).
- When the water boils, hot steam will be emitted. Be careful not to burn yourself. Wear oven gloves if necessary. Rotate the kettle (7) so that the steam is directed away from you.
- Only hold or carry the kettle (7) using the handle (8).
- Clean the appliance only after it has completely cooled down.
-
Fill the kettle (7) with 1.8L of water maximum (see water level indicator (3)). Overfilling can result in the kettle (7) boiling over and could cause burns or damage to property.
-
Only boil water with the lid (1) closed. Otherwise the kettle could boil over and cause burns and property damage.
- Do not open the lid (1) while the water is being heated.

Warning about property damage
- The kettle (7) should only be used with the base (5) provided.
- Never place any objects on the base (5).
- Place the electric kettle on an even, stable and heat-resistant surface only. If the electric kettle is not placed on an even surface the movement of the boiling water could make it tip over possibly causing damage to property and burns.
- Never leave the electric kettle unattended during operation.

Risk of electric shock!
- The power cord must not be damaged. Never replace a damaged power cord, instead contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" on page 46). There is a risk of electric shock in the case of damaged power cords.
-
Do not open the base (5) housing - it contains no serviceable parts. Opening the housing can expose you to the risk of electric shock.
-
If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or strange smells, switch off the appliance immediately and remove the plug from the wall outlet. If this occurs, do not continue to use the appliance and have it checked out by an expert. Never inhale smoke from a possible appliance fire. If you do inadvertently inhale smoke, seek medical attention. Smoke inhalation can be damaging to your health.
- Make sure that the power cord cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot spots. After use, always wind the power cord back around the cord wrap underneath the base (5).
- Make sure that the power cord cannot get crushed or squashed.
- The appliance must always be disconnected from the mains when left unsupervised and before assembly, disassembly or cleaning.
- When disconnecting the power supply, always pull on the plug and never on the power cord itself.
-
If you notice visible damage to the electric kettle or the power cord, switch the appliance off, disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet and contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" on page 46).
-
Only connect the electric kettle to a properly installed, easily accessible wall outlet whose mains voltage corresponds to that on the rating plate. After connecting the appliance, the wall outlet must still be easily accessible so that you can remove the mains plug quickly in the event of an emergency.

- Never immerse the base (5) in water or other liquids. If liquid does penetrate the base (5), disconnect the mains plug from the wall outlet immediately and contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" on page 46).

Risk of fire!
Fill the kettle (7) with a minimum of 0.7L of water (see metal strip inside the kettle). If insufficient water is added, there is a risk of fire due to overheating.

Getting started
Before preparing water for consumption, you must first clean the kettle (7) to remove dust and any residues from the packaging materials. Proceed as follows:
- Remove the lid (1) and rinse the kettle (7) with clean water.
- Fill the kettle (7) with drinking water up to the "1.8L MAX" mark.
- Replace the lid (1), allow the water to boil once (see next step "Boiling water") and pour it away.
- Repeat steps 1 to 3 once more. The kettle is then clean and disinfected and ready for use.
Boiling water

Risk of electric shock!
Keep the base (5) away from water. This could result in potentially fatal electrocution.

Warning
On the very first use, boil and pour away water twice (see previous step "Getting started").

Warning
Always use fresh drinking water. Discard any water left to stand in the electric kettle for longer than one hour.
- Unwind the power cord (2) underneath the base (5).
- Place the base (5) on an even, non-slip and dry surface. In so doing, make sure that the power cord (2) is fed through one of the notches provided on the underside of the base (5).

Warning
If the power cord (2) is not fed through one of the notches provided on the underside of the base (5), the base (5) and kettle (7) will not be stable. Thus the movement of the boiling water could make the appliance tip over causing severe damage to property and personal injury!
- Remove the lid (1).
- Fill the kettle (7) with drinking water, at least 0.7L (see metal strip inside the kettle) and up to the "1.8L MAX" mark on the water level indicator (3) at most, and replace the lid (1) on the kettle (7).

When the kettle (7) is placed on the base (5), it can be freely rotated 360^ around the vertical axis. It does not need to engage in a certain position. This allows you to rotate the kettle (7) such that you can easily check the water level indicator (3) and rotate the kettle (7) so that the steam is directed away from you.
- Connect the power cord (2) to a wall outlet.
- Place the kettle (7) on the base (5) and press the On/Off Switch (4) down into the "l" position to switch the electric kettle on.

Risk of burns!
- Rotate the kettle (7) so that the steam is directed away from you. Otherwise you could get burnt.
-
Only boil water with the lid (1) closed. Otherwise the kettle could boil over and cause burns and property damage.
-
The power indicator (6) lights up and the electric kettle heats the water.

The electric kettle will make noises during the heating process. This is not a malfunction.
- As soon as the water in the kettle (7) boils, the electric kettle turns off. The On/Off Switch returns to the "0" position automatically and the power indicator (6) goes out.
- Disconnect the power cord (2) plug from the wall outlet, remove the kettle (7) from the base (5) and pour the water.

Risk of burns!
- Never touch the kettle (7) during or immediately after operation. Only hold or carry the kettle using the handle (8).
-
When the water boils, hot steam will be emitted. Be careful not to burn yourself. Wear oven gloves if necessary. Rotate the kettle (7) so that the steam is directed away from you.
-
Pour the hot water. It is recommended to hold the handle further back.
Maintenance/cleaning

Risk of burns!
Wait until the electric kettle is completely cool before cleaning it. Otherwise you could get burnt.

Risk of electric shock!
- Always remove the mains plug from the socket before cleaning. Failure to do so could cause an electric shock.
- Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the base (5) and do not immerse it in water or other liquids. This could cause short circuits which could cause electric shocks or burns.

Warning about property damage
Do not use abrasive or astringent detergents or tools which could scratch the surface (e.g. metal sponges). These could damage the electric kettle.
-
Rinse the kettle (7) out with clean water.
-
Clean the exterior of the kettle (7) and the base (5) with a slightly damp cloth. For stubborn dirt add a little detergent to the damp cloth. Make sure there are no detergent residues on the kettle (7) or the base (5) before operating the electric kettle again. Dry the kettle (7) and base (5) well before using the electric kettle again.

To remove stubborn dirt inside the kettle (7) you can use a long-handled dishwashing brush or bottle brush.
Dscaling the electric kettle
Over time, limescale can build up in the kettle (7). This can result in energy loss and reduce the lifespan of the electric kettle. Limescale should therefore be removed as soon as it becomes visible.
- Use a descending agent suitable for coffee machines and other household appliances. Proceed as described in the instructions for using the descending agent.
- After descending, rinse the kettle out multiple times with plenty of clean water.
Cleaning the scale filter
A scale filter (9) is installed in the kettle (7) that needs to be cleaned from time to time. Clean the scale filter (9) as follows:
- Remove the cooled kettle (7) from the base (5).
- Remove the lid (1).

Risk of injury
The inside of the top of the kettle (7) has sharp edges. Be careful not to injure yourself when you reach into the kettle!
- Carefully reach into the kettle and hold your hand underneath the scale filter (9) so it can not fall into the kettle (7).
- Push your finger or a spoon handle from the outside into the spout of the kettle (7) to loosen the scale filter (9). It should then fall in to your hand.
- Place the filter into a warm descending solution for household appliances (e.g. for coffee machines) for a few hours and then rinse it well in clean water.
- Insert the filter back into the kettle (7) from the inside.

When installing the filter, look into the spout of the kettle (7) from the front. This will enable you to position the filter correctly. Once you have aligned the filter centrally, press it gently against the spout until it clicks into position.
- Place the lid (1) back on to the kettle (7).
Storing the electric kettle
- Allow the electric kettle to cool completely before storing it.
- Wrap the power cord (2) around the cord wrap under the base (5) and store the electric kettle in a safe and dust-free place.
- Store the electric kettle in a dry, dust-free place.
