EKWR 5 A1 Introduction Information concerning these operating instructions Congratulations!You have purchased a high-quality product. Familiarise yourself with the product before assembly and before using it for the fi rst time. Please read the following assembly and operating instructions and safety notices carefully. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specifi ed. Retain these instructions for future reference. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner(s). Intended use This appliance is intended exclusively for the weighing of food in private house-holds. It is not intended for commercial or industrial applications. This appliance may only be used when fully assembled. The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by failure to observe these instructions, improper use, incompetent repairs, unauthorised modifi cations or for the use of non-approved replacement parts. Do not operate an appliance which has been damaged or dropped. ■ People who, due to their physical, intellectual or motor abilities, are incapable of operating the appliance safely may only use the appliance under the supervision or direction of a responsible person. ■ Do not allow children to use the appliance unless they are being supervised. ■ Ensure that you do not put your fi ngers between the bowl and the scale when you are fi lling the bowl. Risk of crush injuries! ■ All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the Customer Service department. Improper repairs can pose signifi cant risks to the user. They will also invalidate any warranty claim.GB
■ Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Compliance with safety requirements can only be guaranteed if original replace- ment parts are used. ■ Do not allow any liquids or moisture to get into the appliance. ■ Do not place any objects on the scale when it is not in use. ■ Protect the appliance against knocks, dust, chemicals, extremes of temperature, etc. and keep it away from sources of heat (ovens, radiators). ■ Do not press down on the weighing mechanism. ■ Do not press on the plastic cover of the weight display. ■ Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures. ■ Do not load the scale with more than 5 kg. The scale could be irreparably damaged. Preparation Unpacking
1. Remove all parts of the scale and the operating instructions from the box.
2. Remove all packing material from the scale. Remove the cable ties and the
paper from below the weighing mechanism.
3. Clean the appliance as described in the section “Cleaning and Care”.
WARNING – RISK OF SUFFOCATION! ► Do not allow children to play with packaging materials. There is a risk of suff ocation. Disposal of packaging materials The packaging protects the appliance from damage during carriage. The pack- aging materials have been selected for their environmental friendliness and ease of disposal, and are therefore recyclable. Returning the packaging to the materials cycle conserves raw materials and reduces the amount of waste that is generated. Dispose of packaging materials that are no longer needed in accordance with applicable local regulations. NOTE
If possible, keep the original packaging of the appliance during the warranty period so that the appliance can be packed properly for returning in the event of a warranty claim.GB

2. Remove the two screws 2 from the cradle 3 using a spanner and a

EKWR 5 A1 Cleaning and care CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE! Do not allow any liquids to get into the scale. This could impair the functionality of the appliance. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. These could damage the upper surfaces of the appliance.
1. Wipe the scales with a damp cloth. For stubborn soiling use a mild detergent
on the cloth. Wipe off any detergent residue using a cloth moistened with clean water only.
2. Remove the weighing bowl 1 from the cradle and wash it in warm water
and a mild detergent. Afterwards, rinse it with plenty of clean water to remove all detergent residues. Dry the weighing bowl 1 thoroughly. NOTE
You can also wash the bowl 1 in the dishwasher! Storage ♦ Store the scales in a clean and dry location. ♦ Do not place any objects in the weighing bowl 1 during storage. Disposal of the appliance Dispose of the appliance in an environmentally friendly manner. Dispose of the appliance via an approved waste disposal company or your municipal waste disposal facility. Please observe applicable regulations. Please contact your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt.GB
EKWR 5 A1 Warranty and service You are provided a 3-year warranty on this appliance, valid from the date of purchase. This appliance has been manufactured with care and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the event of a warranty claim, please contact your Customer Service unit by telephone. This is the only way to guarantee free return of your merchandise. NOTE
The warranty only covers claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for damage sustained during carriage, components subject to wear and tear or damage to fragile components such as switches or batteries. This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in the case of misuse or improper handling, use of force or interventions which were not carried out by one of our authorised Service centres. Your statutory rights are not restricted by this warranty. The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs made under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Any damage or defects present at the time of purchase must be reported immediately after unpacking, but no later than two days after the date of purchase.
