Frequently Asked Questions - JB15933 WestBend

What exactly does the JB15933 pack include?
The JB15933 is a complete pack that includes a Jelly Belly electric ice shaver, 20 cone cups and straws in Jelly Belly colors, 4 Flute Pop ice molds, and authentic Jelly Belly flavored syrups (Very Cherry and Berry Blue, 16 servings each).
How do I adjust the texture of the shaved ice?
The shaver is equipped with an adjustable blade offering two different textures. Turn the blade setting to the "fine" position for powdery snow-like ice, or to the "coarse" position for thicker shavings, according to your preference.
How do I use the included Flute Pop molds?
Fill the Flute Pop molds with water or fruit juice, insert the provided stick, then place in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours. Unmold by briefly running the mold under warm water. These molds allow you to make ice pops as well as snow cones.
Are the parts that come into contact with food BPA-free?
Yes, the JB15933 is designed without BPA (bisphenol A). The cups, molds, and tray are made from safe food-grade plastics.
How do I clean the ice shaver after use?
Always unplug the device before cleaning. Remove the tray and detachable parts, then wash them by hand in warm soapy water. Do not immerse the motor or cord in water. Wipe the casing with a damp cloth and allow it to dry completely before storing.
Where can I find compatible replacement syrups?
Jelly Belly flavored syrups are available on the official website jellybelly.com or in supermarkets and online retail sites. Any snow cone syrup with similar density (sugar + flavor) is compatible with this device.
Can commercial ice cubes be used in the JB15933?
Yes, standard commercial ice cubes are suitable. For best results, use standard-sized ice cubes (about 3 x 3 cm). Avoid overly large ice cubes that could strain the motor, and do not use pre-melted crushed ice.
Is the machine still available for purchase new?
The JB15933 is officially discontinued by the manufacturer (Focus Electrics / West Bend). It may still be found second-hand on resale platforms. Current models in the Jelly Belly Electric Ice Shaver range are available at jellybelly.com.
How can I prevent ice from sticking in the collector tray?
Empty the tray regularly during use. If the ice starts to form a block, stop the device and gently break the mass with a spoon. In case of high ambient heat, work in small quantities and serve immediately.
Is the blade replaceable if it becomes dull?
The blade of the JB15933 is theoretically removable for maintenance. To find a replacement blade, consult spare parts sites like spareka.fr by specifying the JB15933 reference. Always handle the blade with care and with the device unplugged.
How many snow cones can be made with the included syrups?
The pack includes 16 servings of Very Cherry syrup and 16 servings of Berry Blue syrup, totaling 32 servings. Each provided cone cup receives about one serving of syrup for a complete snow cone.
Does the JB15933 work in Europe (220V)?
No, the JB15933 is designed for the North American market (120V / 60 Hz). It cannot be used directly on European 220V mains without a suitable transformer, which is not recommended by the manufacturer.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

Please check all packaging material carefully before discarding. Many accessory parts are contained within the packaging material.

Wash the shaver bowl in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry. Do not put in dishwasher. NEVER IMMERSE THE SHAYER MOTOR IN WATER.

When assembling, dismantling or cleaning, always ensure that the appliance is not connected to the power supply.

USING YOUR ICE SHAYER

  1. Fill a standard ice cube tray or the supplied ice cups with water and place in the freezer until frozen. Ice cubes work well in the Ice Shaver but may produce a slightly coarser textured ice than the ice cup block.
  2. Place the shaver bowl on top of the base, aligning the tabs with the slots and gently press down until the shaver bowl locks into place. The shaver bowl should not be removed after attaching.
  3. Turn the blade adjustment knob on the side of the base - clockwise (right) for finer and counterclockwise (left) for coarser shaved ice. Note: Do not change the knob position while shaving ice.
  4. When the ice cubes or ice cup blocks are frozen solid, remove from the tray or cup and place in shaver bowl.
  5. To use paper or silicone cone cups, insert the cup holder into the base opening, or place a separate bowl or ice cup on the base to collect the shaved ice. Note: Do not attach cup holder if using a bowl or ice cup.
  6. Place the shaver motor on top of the ice, plug into an electrical outlet, and press the power button while applying a steady, downward pressure. The motor will start and ice shaving will begin. To stop shaving, remove hand from power button.
  7. Add your favorite Jelly belly premium syrup, soft drink, or fresh fruit to the shaved ice and enjoy.
  8. Unplug from the power supply immediately after use.

  9. A small amount of smoke and/or odor may occur upon use due to the release of manufacturing oils – this is normal.

  10. Some minor expansion/contraction sounds may occur during use – this is normal.

CLEANING YOUR ICE SHAYER

  1. Always unplug appliance before cleaning.
  2. Hand wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. CAUTION: Be extremely careful of shaving blade in bowl as blade is very sharp. Note: Do not wash parts in a dishwasher.
  3. Clean exterior of the appliance with a damp, soft cloth and wipe dry. Note: Do not immerse shaver motor in water or other liquid.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO SHARPEN SHAVING BLADE AS INJURY MAY OCCUR.
