BIOSEC DRYSET PRO - WARRANTY AND GUIDE

LEAVE IT TO DRYSET PRO:

Biosec is fitted with the exclusive electronic Dryset Pro system, which guarantees a complete range of programs that are simple, efficient and suitable for any kind of use and product. The programs take into consideration all the variables that come into play during drying. The main differences are:

  • a mixture of different working temperatures for different periods of time;
  • alternating different fan speeds and pauses;
  • specific program duration in hours.

All the programs described below give duration in hours (H), those marked with the letters MN also include a final conservation period that preserves your products at an optimum level of dryness with minimum energy consumption. Once the drying process is finished, therefore, you will not need to immediately pack away the product before it rehydrates.

P1 - AUTOMATIC: this is the simplest, most versatile program. Suitable for most products - H: 30h+MN
P2 - MUSHROOMS AND THIN SLICES: perfect for mushrooms and products to be dried in thin slices (4-6mm), like apples, aubergines, kiwis and pineapples. - H:18h+MN
P3 - BIORAWISM: never exceeds an air temperature of 40^ , perfect also for aromatic and medicinal herbs. - H: indefinite (stop when the desired degree of dryness is reached).
P4 - SUPERHOT 68^ : the hottest program, just below cooking. This is the best programme for drying meat and is not suitable for delicate foods. Excellent also for final crisping of some products, perfect for meringues - H: 14h+MN
P5 - PASTA: a specific program for drying fresh pasta. The level of dryness desired must however be checked carefully each time and for each different recipe. - H: 16h+MN
P6 - ECONOMY: slightly longer drying times will correspond to more than proportional savings. Perfect also for campsites, campers or hotels, where power supply is limited. P6 absorbs a maximum of 270W. H: indefinite (stop it when the desired degree of dryness is reached).
P7 - SILENT: the most suitable program for keeping noise to a minimum. Also suitable for all tiny light products (saffron, small leaves, etc.) - H: 48h+MN

For all those who want more control over temperature selection, Biosec also offers programs T1 to T5, which guarantee working temperatures between 20^ and 60^ .

Programmes T1 to T5 have no time limits.

WARNING: before using any of the programs run a check and test cycle on each.

Always check the products are really dried at the end of the cycle.

Every product may react differently due to size, water content and ambient temperature/humidity levels.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL:

The display gives the working temperature, both for Programs P1 to P7 or for programs T1 to T5 (for a manual setting of the temperature).

IN PRATICE: SELECTION AND USE OF DESIRED PROGRAM

Plugging in: when you plug Biosec in, it switches on automatically in standby mode.

  1. SET button: push the SET button repeatedly until the desired program appears on the Biosec display. Push ON/OFF to start the process.
  2. Display: during the drying process, the Biosec display will alternately show the working temperature in real time and the program currently being used.

Press the SET button to instantly see which program is being used.

  1. ON/OFF button: this starts and stops the drying cycle.

To restart the process once stopped, just push the ON/OFF button again.

The program will start again from where it was interrupted. If you want to change the program, push repeatedly SET until the display shows the desired program. This will cancel the previously set drying cycle and start a new one.

TIMER:

Push SET button for about 5 seconds while your Biosec is already working: you'll see the number OO flashing for a couple of seconds.

Then push again the SET button (before 00 disappears) till you visualize the timing you wish to set.

WARNING: if the machine is switched off at a working temperature of over 45^ , the dehydrator will stop, but the fan will continue to turn at top speed to cool the motor and avoid damage.

MANUAL CONSERVATION MODE: You can enable the conservation mode

on Biosec even for programmes that do not include it or during a drying cycle that has not yet finished. Just hold down the SET button for 5 seconds during the cycle: the display will show the symbol in fig. 2 and the CONSERVATION program will be enabled, remaining active until Biosec is manually switched off when you are ready to take out and put away your products.

DRYING TABLES

PRODUCT PREPARATION AND USESTIME AND PROGRAM
APRICOTSCut in half and remove stone. Very ripe fruit might go brown without however affecting its intense astringent flavour. Eaten as is, or in cakes or dried fruit compositions on trays, in baskets, etc.
PINEAPPLEPeel and cut into slices 6-10 mm thick. Turn occasionally to stop them sticking to the basket. It has a very high water content, but gives excellent results for fragrance and flavour. Also keeps its colour well. Can be eaten as is or used in fruit salads and dried fruit compositions.
BANANASCut into slices or pieces. They tend to stick to the basket and to each other. They tend to go brown but keep their intense flavour. A bit sticky because they have a very high sugar content. Excellent for eating as is, especially on trips and excursions, and also as snacks. They are a concen- trate of taste and substance, particularly popular with kids.
PERSIMMONSCut into thin slices (7-10 mm). Sweet non-astringent persimmons are excellent if dried while still unripe. The other qualities of persimmon can also be dried before they fully ripen and go soft: the dried fruit loses its astringency. Excellent eaten as is and also in dried fruit compositions. They keep a good colour.
KIWISPeel and cut into slices 7-10 mm thick. The whole fruit can be cut into 4 longwise slices. Arrange and move occasionally so they do not stick. They keep a good colour. Intense astringent flavour. They can be eaten as is, better with other fruit or soaked to soften in fruit salad. Excellent for dried fruit compositions.
ORANGESNot too ripe, sliced about 5 mm. They tend to adhere to the bottom of the basket. Perfect for decorating cakes, dishes and artistic works, especially for Christmas.
CHERRIESCut in half and pitted, dehydration intensifies their flavor and aroma. Perfect for herbal tea, pot pourri, sweets of all kind.
STRAWBERRIESHalf if small, thin slices if bigger. Tiny, wild strawberries can also be dried whole, with significantly longer times. Not too high temperatures to preserve their amazing colour. Perfect in snacks, yogurt, energy bars, herbal teas and potpourri or pureed and added to your sugar or flour for cakes.
FIGSWhole or halved. Best results achieved with very ripe dry fruit. Eaten as is and in cakes or in dried fruit salads, in pieces for dried fruit compositions on trays, in baskets, etc.
APPLESCut into slices 6-8 mm thick, whole or after having cored and peeled. Eaten as they are, in cakes or dried fruit compositions. They are particularly rich in fibre, especially if dried unpeeled.
PEARSSame as apples. Small sweet varieties can also be dried halved. Excellent eaten as is and in cakes, fruit salad and dried fruit compositions.
PEACHES NECTARINESHalved if small, in slices or segments if larger. Move them often. Eaten as is, in cakes and dried fruit compositions.
PLUMSHalved and stoned or whole after blanching in boiling water for 30-60 seconds. Varieties from wild non-grafted trees are also suitable. Eaten as is or in cakes and dried fruit compositions. When boiled for a few minutes in a little water they are slightly laxative.
GRAPESSlow drying due to their very impermeable skin. The process can be speeded up by blanching the grapes in boiling water for 10-20 seconds. For all uses, from raisins to eating as is.
PARSLEYArrange the leaves so they do not overlap too much and turn occasionally. Excellent when powdered, also for preserving products in oil.
SPINACHWhole or shredded leaves. Move them frequently so they do not overlap. For risottos, omelettes or similar dishes.
COURGETTESIn rounds when young and small. In pieces or cubes, without the central pulp, if bigger.As a side dish or in minestrone soup when soaked. When young and small, very tasty preserved in oil.
PUMPKINSWith rind and seeds removed, cut into slices/cubes.For risottos and minestrone soup after soaking.
POTATOESSliced or cubed (8-15 mm). Move so they do not stick. The surface may go brown but it does not affect the flavour.Above all for minestrone soup, but also as a side dish after soaking. Can also be stored mixed with other vegetables as a soup mix.
SAVOY CABBAGESlice and arrange, does not need any special preparation. Above all for soups and other dishes after soaking.
CHILLI PEPPERSNot very permeable skin. For best results cut in half longwise.In pieces or powdered to give a hot flavour to various dishes.
CAPSICUM PEPPERSCut into pieces or strips. They do not need any special preparation and are easy to dry.Use as you would when fresh, after soaking. Even preserved in oil.
MUSHROOMSWithout washing, clean and cut into thin slices about 5mm.Use as you would when fresh, after soaking.
TOMATOESPreferably small/medium size. One of the longest and most difficult vegetables to dry due to its high water content. Some varieties will tend to look almost burnt if too ripe. Cut in half for drying. They can be dried without salting and draining.After soaking them, in any recipe that calls for fresh or canned tomatoes, in side dishes, sauces, soups. Excellent preserved in oil with herbs (garlic, basil, oregano, chilli pepper). Perfect for pasta sauces or powdered.
HERBSChamomile, St. John's wort, mallow, marigold, thyme, rosemary, nettle, mint, lemon balm, sage, etc. ... The best results are obtained without cutting the leaves, although this lengthens the drying time.
MEATThe most suitable meat for drying process is the lean type. Because of their tendency to melt, fats endanger the success of the process and the quality of the final product. This is why you need to dehydrate it with high temperatures. The timing may also vary significantly depending on type and thickness of the treated meat.
FISHWhitefish, shad, etc. to be treated not differently from the meat, timing highly variable depending on variety and size.
MERINGUESLine the basket with a sheet of baking paper. Prepare the dough and place the meringues inside the dryer.
WARNING: ALL TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE. THE TIMES MAY VARY DEPENDING ON AIR TEMPERATURE, THICKNESS OF SLICES AND WATER IN THE PRODUCT.

THIS GUARANTEE IS ONLY VALID IF ACCOMPANIED BY PROOF OF PURCHASE: KEEP YOUR RECEIPT OR INVOICE.

This guarantee does not cover malfunction due to misuse, improper or incorrect use or breakages caused by knocks or falling.

Tampering by the client will also render the guarantee null and void: only the manufacturer is authorised to open or take apart Biosec machines for inspection, repairs or replacement of any damaged parts.

GENERALWARNINGS:

1 - Carefully read the warnings given in this leaflet, which give important information regarding installation, use and maintenance safety. Keep this leaflet somewhere safe for future reference.

2 - After unpacking the machine, check for any damage.

In the event of doubt, do not use the machine and contact your retailer.

The packaging materials must not be left within reach of children, as they represent a potential hazard.

3 - Before connecting the equipment to the power supply, check that the information on the motor label complies with your voltage.

4 - Do not put anything into the hot air blowing unit.

5 - This machine must only be used for its intended purpose, in other words drying. Any other use is considered improper and therefore dangerous. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for any damage caused by improper, incorrect or unreasonable use.

6 - The use of any electrical appliance calls for compliance with several fundamental rules:

  • DO NOT TOUCH THE HOT AIR BLOWING UNIT WITH WET OR DAMP HANDS
    -DO NOT LEAVE THE MACHINE EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS
    -DO NOT LET CHILDREN OR INCAPABLE PERSONS USE THE MACHINE WITHOUT SUPERVISION
    -DO NOT PULL THE POWER CABLE OR THE MACHINE TO REMOVE THE PLUG FROM THE SOCKET
    7 - Do not use the machine near bath tubs, showers, basins or sinks, pools or other sources of water.
    8 - Keep the machine at least 50~cm from easily flammable items or substances.

DESCRIPTION:

BIOSEC comes in a BASE UNIT version, to which an EXTRA UNIT can be added to increase drying capacity.

THE BASE UNIT COMPRISES:

  1. a square-section container (tunnel) into which the drying baskets are placed on runners.
  2. a removable door containing an electric fan that pushes air through the baskets in the tunnel and an electric heating element, which speeds up the drying process and makes it safe even at night and during very damp cold periods (in particular for products with a high water content or during the stage before taking out the dried product);
  3. a second removable door that closes the other end of the container. The doors have tiny holes in them to allow the passage of air but not insects;
  4. perforated baskets for holding the material to be dried that slide into the tunnel on the runners; the number and material used for the baskets will vary depending on the BIOSEC model purchased.

THE EXTRA UNIT COMPRISES:

  1. a tunnel for 10 or 12 baskets (depending on the model), like the large base unit;
    2.10 or 12 baskets;

SIZE AND SPECS:

Maximum external section for all units is 27 × 27 ~cm , the inside of the tunnel has a section of 25 × 25 ~cm . The small unit (B5-B5S-B6) is 46 ~cm long and the large (B10-B1OS-B12) and extra units are 81 ~cm long.

Each basket measures 24 × 35 cm .

The heating element is 550 watts and the machine is switched on electronically.

POSITIONING OF BIOSEC MACHINES:

Like all electric appliances, the BIOSEC hot air blowing unit must not come into direct contact with water or sources of steam. BIOSEC must therefore be positioned at a due distance from taps, sinks and basins, tubs, pools and sheltered from the rain or any kind of water spray.

When it is working, BIOSEC expels humidity which must not remain in the surrounding area in order not to slow down or impede drying. It is therefore a good idea to position BIOSEC in a sufficiently large room and in any case one that is not hermetically sealed. Avoid rooms that are already damp, such as laundry rooms, cellars, etc.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

BIOSEC does not require any special attention. We do however recommend not using abrasive cloths or equipment that may damage its surfaces or solvents on the plastic parts.

We recommend the use of a cloth dampened slightly in water and/or neutral detergent.

Periodically check that the ventilation grille is free from any threads or fluff, which may impede normal air circulation.

The baskets can be washed even in very hot water and detergent, either by hand or in a dishwasher.

IMPORTANT:

  • wash both tunnel and baskets before using Biosec for the first time:
  • do not take the cover off the electrical parts in the motor unit for any reason whatsoever;
  • do not use water directly on the machine or near to it:
  • do not put the hot air blowing unit into water;
  • unplug the machine before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance.

All old electrical appliances and products must be disposed of separately from normal household waste in special recycling centres specifically for this purpose.
