Frequently Asked Questions - JP1039SQ Jupiter

How to correctly assemble the clarinet?
First apply grease to the cork of the tenons. Join the upper and lower joints without pressing hard on the keys. Attach the barrel to the upper joint and the bell to the lower joint. Align the mouthpiece table with the thumb key, then position the reed and tighten the ligature.
How to apply grease on the cork?
Use the provided special cork grease. Apply a thin layer to the cork tenons of the joints. This facilitates assembly and protects the cork from drying out.
How to clean the instrument after playing?
Run a swab through the inside of each part to remove moisture. Wipe the outside with a soft cloth, avoiding scratching the keys. Clean and dry the mouthpiece and reed separately.
How to store the reed correctly?
After cleaning and drying the reed, place it in its protective case to prevent deformation or damage.
What to do if a key sticks or does not work well?
Do not try to force or repair it yourself. Apply very little key oil to the pivots if necessary. If the problem persists, entrust the instrument to a qualified technician.
Why avoid sudden temperature changes?
The clarinet's wood can crack due to rapid changes in temperature or humidity. Let the instrument gradually acclimate to a new environment.
Can I oil the keys myself?
Yes, but sparingly. Use a special key oil applied in very small amounts to the pivots. Avoid any excess that could drip onto the wood.
How to align the mouthpiece table with the thumb key?
During assembly, turn the mouthpiece so that its table (flat part where the reed rests) is aligned with the thumb key of the upper joint. This ensures optimal playing comfort.
Does the manual mention two types of clarinets?
Yes, the manual provides instructions for the B-flat clarinet and the bass clarinet. For the bass clarinet, attach the lower part of the neck to the upper joint. Check the exact model of your instrument.
When should I consult a technician?
If you encounter a persistent mechanical problem (sticking keys, air leaks, etc.) or need to adjust the mechanism, contact an authorized dealer or a qualified technician to avoid damaging the instrument.
