Frequently Asked Questions - GH 2800 Güde

How to adjust the backing plate of the GH 2800 shredder?
To adjust the backing plate, start the motor and slowly turn the adjustment screw (fig. H/13) clockwise until you hear a slight friction. The cutting roller will trim the plate to the correct distance. Adjust it to avoid excessive wear.
What to do if the appliance does not start?
First check that the collection bin is correctly attached and that the filling hopper is properly mounted. Check the electrical socket and extension cord. If the fuse has tripped or the overload protection is activated, press the corresponding button (fig. A/2 or fig. E/1).
How to clean and maintain the shredder?
Use a soft cloth and a mild soapy solution. Avoid harsh products. Clean the ventilation slots and the body regularly. Have the appliance checked once a year by a specialist. Store it away from moisture.
What is the warranty of the Güde GH 2800?
The warranty is 24 months for the end consumer (12 months for industrial use). It covers material and manufacturing defects upon presentation of the proof of purchase. Normal wear and tear and damage due to improper use are excluded.
Can I shred wet or soft branches?
Fresh branches give the best results. Avoid shredding soft waste without solid consistency; compost them directly. If the material is too wet or soft, use the insertion piece to help the drive.
How to use the reverse function?
Press and hold the reverse button (fig. A/4) and simultaneously press the green Start button (fig. A/3). The roller will turn in the opposite direction to release jammed material.
What type of extension cord to use?
Use an extension cord approved for outdoor use, splash-proof. For lengths up to 25 m, minimum cross-section 3 x 1.5 mm²; beyond 25 m, minimum cross-section 2.5 mm². Unwind the cable completely from the drum.
What is the maximum capacity of the collection bin?
The collection bin has a volume of 60 liters. It is intended for collection only, not for storage. Never step on it.
How to replace wear parts or get spare parts?
Contact Güde after-sales service via www.guede.com or by phone at +49 (0) 79 04 / 700-360. Have the serial number, order number and year of manufacture (on the rating plate). Use only genuine parts.
What to do if shredded material accumulates in the discharge chute?
Stop the appliance, wait for the cutting mechanism to stop completely, then unplug it. Manually remove the blocked material with protective gloves. Use reverse gear if necessary.

Is the reverse button (direction reversal) of the Güde GH 2800 yellow? How does this switch work?
Frequently Asked Questions - 6 d
Response Notice-Facile

The reverse button of the Güde GH 2800 is indeed a switch that allows you to reverse the rotation direction of the mill. According to the typical design of this model, this button is usually colored differently from the green Start button to clearly distinguish it.

Operation:

  • Ensure that the mill is stopped before toggling the reverse switch
  • Push or toggle the switch to the reverse position to reverse the rotation
  • The mill will then rotate in the opposite direction

This reversing system allows, for example, to clear stuck grains or to clean the device. As with the green Start button that works on hold (it does not stay pressed by itself), make sure to fully understand the state of the switch before restarting the mill in the normal direction.

Respond (be the first)
The green Start button on the Güde GH 2800 only works when held down, it cannot stay clicked - is this normal?
Frequently Asked Questions - 6 d
Response Notice-Facile

Yes, this is the normal and intended operation of the Güde GH 2800.

The green Start button is a - it cannot stay clicked or locked in the 'on' position. This means that:

  • The grinder operates only while you hold the green button down
  • As soon as you release it, the motor stops immediately
  • It is impossible to fix or keep it activated without constant action

This type of control is intentionally designed this way for safety reasons on electric grinders - it ensures that the user always maintains active control of the device. This behavior is consistent with the design of your Güde GH 2800 and is not a defect.

N Notice-Facile - 05/27/2026

  • La configuration du plateau de pression mentionné dans votre manuel – son réglage affecte directement la finesse du broyage ;
  • Le diamètre du matériau que vous introduisez (le broyeur accepte jusqu'à 40 mm) ;

  • Consulter la notice complète du produit (version PDF ou papier) – elle contient généralement des schémas détaillés des réglages possibles ;
  • Contacter le service après-vente Güde directement, ils pourront vous expliquer précisément les options de réglage disponibles sur votre modèle.

If the appliance is exposed to excessive load (e.g. clogging of cutting roll), the appliance halts after several seconds.

Work instructions

Material supply

Insert the shredded material only, the rotating cutting roll will draw it in automatically.

  • Insert such quantity of material not to clog the hopper.
  • Do not shred soft waste without solid consistency but compost it directly.
  • Make sure the shredded material exits to the collection box or bag without any restrictions - danger of clogging!
  • Best results are achieved if you shred fresh branches shortly after cutting.

Adjustment of pressure plate

The pressure plate is calibrated by the manufacturer and requires no adjustment before first commissioning. Adjustment of the pressure plate is required in case of wear, e.g. when the branches wedge in chain each other and they can not be shredded correctly.

In this case proceed as follows:

Turn the engine on and slowly rotate the adjustment knob (Fig. A/9 or Fig. E/6) or Fig. H/13 clockwise to hear slight friction. The cutting roll sharpens the pressure plate to correct distance. Adjust the plate so that it is not worn too early.
