6. Window with water level indication

Operating Instructions IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read these instructions carefully be

fore using the appliance. Only use the appliance in the way indicated in this instruction manual. Should you hand over the appliance to another user, make sure to hand over the instruction manual together with the appliance. Check that your mains voltage cor

responds to that stated on the rating plate of the appliance. Never leave the appliance unsupervi

sed when in use. People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physi

cal, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or know

ledge, must never use the appliance without supervision or instructions of a responsible person. Close supervision is necessary if children are near the appliance in order to avoid that they use it as a toy. From time to time check the appli

ance for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage but have it che

cked and repaired by a competent qualiedservice(*).Shouldthecord be damaged, it must be replaced by acompetentqualiedservice(*). Make sure the power cord does not touch the hot surfaces of the appli

ance. Never immerse the appliance in wa

ter or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never place it into the dishwasher.

Never use the appliance near hot surfaces. Do not stand the appliance on hot surfaces (e.g. a hot plate) or nearaameasaremightoccur. Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment. Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance. Always unplug the appliance from the power supply before cleaning or when the appliance is not in use. Never move or unplug the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it. Stand the appliance and its base on atableoratsurfacetopreventit from falling. Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Always let the appliance cooldownbeforelling,cleaningor storing it. Always unplug the appliance when not in use. Make sure the appliance does not comeintocontactwithammable materials such as curtains, clothes,… when using the appliance since a recouldbreakout.Neverputthe appliance on a hot surface or near aame–thebodyoftheappliance could melt down. For health reasons, only use drin

king water and for the appliance to operate properly, use cold water. Do not use water coming from a bath, a washbasin or other container. Alwaysllbetweentheminimumand maximum marks. The water must never be below the minimum mark since the heating element might be damaged.Neverlltheappliance above the maximum level.

When using the appliance, make sure the lid is closed correctly. Do not touch the hot parts of the appliance. Always use the handle. CAUTION: In case you have over- lledtheappliance,hotwatermight escape. Be careful not to get burned by the hot steam that evaporates when the water is boiling and especially when you open the lid. When descaling, use a product specicallymadeforthatpurpose thatyoundintheshops.Donotuse ammonia or any other substance that could damage your health. Only use your appliance with the appropriate base. (*)Competentqualiedelectrician: after sales department of the produ

der to avoid all danger. In any case you should return the appliance to this electrician.

Beforerstuseorafterdescaling,it is necessary to boil water in the jug kettle and to pour it out (see para

graph “Use”). Repeat the process 3 times with fresh water. Then rinse with cold water. USE

• Take the jug kettle from its base and open the lid of the water tank by putting a little pressure on the unlocking device.

• Fill the water tank with the desired amount of cold water (Picture A)

andmakesuretollitbetweenthe indicated minimum and maximum water level.

• Close the lid (the appliance will only work when the lid is closed).

• Put the jug kettle back on its base (Picture B) and plug in the appli- ance.

• Press on the switch by moving it downwards into the position “I” (Picture C). The jug kettle will start operating.

• As soon as the water boils, a safety system will turn off the power. If you intend to interrupt the boiling, press the switch upwards into the position “0”.

• If you lift the jug kettle from its base when it is switched on, it will stay switched on and it will start heating again automatically when you put it back on its base!

cally if it is accidentally switched on without water.

• In this case, unplug the appliance andwaitabout10minutes.Thenll it with cold water.

• The kettle may then be used as usual.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Before attempting any cleaning operation, make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down.

• To clean the exterior surfaces, sim

ply wipe over with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Residues on the inside can be removed with a soft brush. Never use abrasive products.

• On no account must the jug kettle or its power base be immersed in water or in any other liquid.

• When the lid is open, you can raise theparticleltertotakeitout,cle

an it and then slide it back into the foreseen notch (Picture D).

(D) DESCALING When scale becomes visible in the jug, you have to descale it. To remove scale from the jug kettle, use products made especially for this purpose and availa

ble in shops, liquid descaling products or for the sake of environmental pro

tection you can use vinegar. When descaling, please pay attention to the following points:

• Pour water in the appliance, and add the descaling product afterwards.

• Make sure to dilute the product suf

• Caution, the mixture might froth during heating.

• After descaling, rinse the appliance twice with fresh water.GB
