Safety instructions Please read and follow the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later reference. Enclose these instructions when you give this appliance to someone else. This appliance is intended for domestic use only. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved. Keep children under 8 years of age away from the appliance and connecting cable and do not allow them to use the appliance. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. WDanger of electric shock! Only use the appliance indoors at room temperature and up to 2000 m above sea level. The appliance may only be connected to a power supply with alternating current via a correctly installed socket with earthing. Ensure that the protective conductor system of the domestic supply has been correctly installed. Connect and operate the appliance only according to the type plate specifications. To avoid potential hazards, repairs such as replacing a damaged cable must only be carried out by our customer service personnel. Avoid spillage on the connector. Never immerse the appliance, base or mains cable in water. The tea maker should only be used with the base supplied. Use only if power cord and appliance show no signs of damage. Should a fault occur, pull the plug or disconnect from the mains immediately.8

WRisk of fire! Do not place the base, kettle or teapot on or near hot surfaces, e.g. hobs. Avoid spatters of grease as the plastic may be damaged. WRisk of scalding! The appliance heats up during use. Make sure you only pick it up by the handle and do not open the lid until the appliance has cooled down. Only use the appliance when the lid is engaged. If the appliance is filled above the “max.” marking, there could be a risk from splashes of boiling water. WRisk of burns! After the use the heating element surfaces and warming plate can be subjected to residual heat. WRisk of suffocation! Do not allow children to play with packaging material. WRisk of injury! A misuse of the appliance can potentially lead to injury.

Milk or instant products will burn and damage the appliance. – Do not operate the kettle without water or overfill, observe min and max marks (Fig. 5a). – Use the kettle with attached teapot or lid only, otherwise the kettle will not switch automatically to keep warm F. – If the kettle is not being used, always switch off with the switch or unplug. Before using your appliance for the first time ■ Unwind the power cord to the required length and plug in. ■ Fill the kettle with fresh water, attach the lid and place on the base. ■ Switch on the appliance by pressing down switch (Fig. 2). ■ Set the selection button to boil E (Fig. 3). ■ When the water has boiled, the selection button automatically switches to keep warm F (Fig. 4). The indicator light comes on during the warming function only. ■ Repeat the process twice in order to clean the kettle. ■ Rinse the teapot with lid and tea filter. Other types of tea may become bitter due to the long steeping time. ■ Fill the kettle with water, observe min and max mark. ■ Place the kettle on the base and set the selection button to boil E. ■ Fill the tea filter approx. ⅓ full of Turkish tea and insert into the teapot. ■ Place the teapot on the kettle. Switch on the appliance by pressing down switch. The illuminated ring lights up. ■ As soon as the water has boiled, the selection button automatically switches to keep warm F. The indicator light lights up. ■ Now fill the teapot with the hot water and refill the kettle with fresh water. ■ Place the teapot on the kettle and the kettle on the base. Set the selection switch to boil E. ■ As soon as the water has boiled, the selection button automatically switches to keep warm F.10

■ Now the tea from the teapot can be mixed with the hot water from the kettle according to taste. When pouring out tea, press the teapot lid forwards with your thumb. Info: The water and the tea are kept warm by setting the switch to F. This saves up to 90% energy. If the kettle is refilled with fresh water, first bring the water to the boil and then keep warm. Tips ■ Pour the Turkish tea into the tea filter and briefly rinse with hot running water. This will remove dust residue from the tea and improve the taste. ■ The Turkish tea should be left to steep for at least 20 min. in order to extract the full flavour. ■ Always use up the tea extract in the teapot, do not refill with water. Boiling the water Fig. 6 Only water can be heated with the kettle. The lid must always be attached. ■ Fill the kettle with water, observe min and max mark. ■ Set the selection button to boil E and switch on with the switch. The illuminated ring lights up ■ As soon as the water has boiled, the selection button automatically switches to keep warm F. The indicator light lights up. ■ If the water is not to be kept warm, switch off the kettle with the switch. Cleaning and descaling W Risk of electric shock! Before cleaning the appliance, pull out the mains plug. Never immerse the appliance in water or clean in the dishwasher. Do not use a steam cleaner. ■ Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth only. Do not use sharp or abrasive detergents. ■ Descale the water jug with vinegar or a commercially available descaler. ■ Fill jug with water up to the max mark and bring to the boil. Then switch off the appliance, add a little household vinegar and leave to react for several hours. Or use descaler according to the manufacturer’s instructions. ■ Then rinse the water jug and calcification filter with fresh water. Attention: Never remove calcification residue with hard implements, otherwise the seal will be damaged. Eliminating minor faults yourself The appliance is not heating or warming up. The illuminated ring or the indicator light does not come on. – The overheating protection system has actuated. ■ Switch off the kettle with the switch and leave to cool down. Then the appliance can be switched on again.
