Congratulations on the purchase of your Priori SPS.

Safety, comfort and user-friendliness have at all times played an important role in the development of the Priori SPS. This product meets the most stringent safety regulations.

Research shows that a high number of car safety seats are incorrectly installed. Therefore, please take the time to read through the instruction manual carefully. The Priori SPS offers maximum safety only when it is used in accordance with the instructions.

Continuous research by our development team, user tests and consumer reactions ensure that we are kept fully up to date in the field of child safety. Therefore, if you have any questions concerning the use of the Priori SPS, please do not hesitate to contact us.

WARNING : Read this instruction manual carefully.
WARNING : The correct fitting of the seat belt, along the red marking between the shell and the base of the seat, is of vital importance for the safety of your child. See figure B2 or the sticker on the side of the Priori SPS.
WARNING: For the future use of the seat, it is important that you store the instruction manual in the space provided on the back of the Priori SPS.
WARNING: Never leave your child unattended in the car.
- Before use study the illustrations in this instruction manual carefully; the Priori SPS is a safety product and is only safe when used in accordance with the instruction manual.
The Priori SPS must only be used on a forward facing seat that is fitted with an automatic 3-point safety belt (see figure B), which is approved according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard.
- The Priori SPS may be used in the front seat and in the back seat. Even if the car is equipped with an airbag! However, we recommend installing it on the back seat. If this is not possible, make sure that, if installing on a front seat equipped with an airbag, the seat is in the rearmost position. See the car manual, as more and more cars have the possibility to easily switch off the airbag.
- The Priori SPS has been approved according to the strictest European safety standards (ECE R44/04) and is suitable for children weighing 9 to 18kg (approx. age 9 months to 3,5 years).
- Replace the Priori SPS when it has been subject to the severe forces of an accident: the safety of your child can no longer be guaranteed.
The safety of the seat can only be guaranteed by the manufacturer if it is used by the original owner.
- Do not use second hand products unless you know the history of the product. Some parts could be broken, torn or missing.
The belt pads are important for the safety of your child, therefore use them at all times.
- Ensure that all luggage and objects likely to cause injury in the event of an accident are properly secured.
The Priori SPS is developed for an intensive use of approximately 10 years.
We advise to check the expanded polystyrene (EPS) parts regularly for damages.
- The moving parts of the Priori SPS should not be lubricated in any way.

Other instructions

• The Priori SPS must not be used without the cover. Always use an original Priori SPS cover, as the cover contributes to the safety of the seal.
• The seat must always be secured with a seat belt, even when not in use. An unsecured seat may injure other passengers in the car in the event of an emergency stop.
• Ensure that the seat is not damaged by wedging it between or underneath heavy luggage, adjustable seats or slamming the car door etc.
  No alterations may be made to the Priori SPS as this could affect part or the overall safety of the seat.
• In hot weather the plastic and metal parts of the Priori SPS may feel hot to the touch. You should therefore cover the seat if the car is parked in the sun.
  In order to prevent damage to the cover, do not remove the Prior SPS logo.
  Use the seat even on short journeys as this is when most accidents occur.
  Prior to purchase check that the seat fits properly in your car.
  Take short breaks on longer journeys so that your child has some freedom of movement.
• Set a good example yourself and always wear your seat belt
• Tell your child that he/she should never play with the belt buckle.

• Age (length) and weight of your child.

The seat belt

The Priori SPS should be used with an automatic 3-point safety belt provided that this has been approved according to ECE R16 or an equivalent standard. Do not use with a 2-point safety belt.

• Your Priori SPS can be fitted safely on almost all the seats in the car with the existing seat belts. However, on
  some seats the belts are fitted so far forward that proper installation is not possible. If this is the case,

try another seal.
In some cases the buckle of the car belt may be too long and therefore sits too high against the base of the Prior

Four positions of the Priori SPS (A)

The Priori SPS may be used in four positions: Lift the handle under the front of the seat up and pull or push the shell forwards or backwards. Release the handle in the required position and push until you hear a distinct click.

Installing the Priori SPS with a 3-point safety belt (A-B)

When installing the car seat follow the installation instructions for the 3-point safety belt described above
(under section "the seat belt").
A 3-point safety belt is shown in figure B.
Place the Priori 5PS in the sleeping position (A) on the car seat
Thread the seat belt between the shell and base (B1).
Fasten the seat belt in the belt buckle (BT).
The lap belt now fits under the red hooks and the shoulder belt runs from the belt buckle directly diagonally
upwards. Place the shoulder belt in the belt clamp on one side only (B2) and fasten it (B3-1). Note The shoulder belt is now only attached on the side of the roll-up mechanism.
Push the Priori SPS firmly into the car seat and pull the shoulder belt tight (B3) so that there is no play between the
car seat and the Prion SPS.
Check this!
Pull the shoulder belt through the top belt hook (B4).

Placing your child in the Priori SPS (C)

Loosen the shoulder belts by pressing the release button and pulling the shoulder belts towards you (CI). Note! Do not pull on the belt pads.

Open the belt buckle (C2) and drape the belts over the hooks on the shell (C3).

Position your child comfortably with his/her back against the shell (C4) and make sure that there are no toys or other hard objects in the shell. Slide buckle tongue sections together and insert them in the buckle (CS).

Pull the shoulder belt light (C6), pull the remaining slack out of the belt system by pulling the belt light with the adjuster belt (C7).

Note!

The tighter the belts are around the child, the better the protection.
Check that the textured side of the belt pads is on the shoulders of your child
The belts should never be twisted.
If you are unable to click the tongue sections in the buckle, unblock the buckle by pressing the red button and
try again
- If you are not able to fasten the harness belt properly or pull it tight, contact your supplier immediately. Under no circumstances use the product!

Adjusting the height of the shoulder belts (C-E)

The correct bell height of the shoulder belts is attained when the bell disappears into the shell slightly above the shoulder of the child. Make sure that the shoulder belts fit properly over the shoulders of the child (C8). Loosen the
shoulder belts by pressing the release button and pulling the shoulder belts towards you as far as possible (CI). Note! Do not pull the belt pads.
Place the Priori SPS in the sleeping position (A) and open the bell guard door (Df).
Remove the shoulder belts from the belt yoke (D2).
Pull the shoulder bells through the shell and the cover out of the belt, pads, but make sure that the buckle remains fixed to prevent the belts twisting (D3).
If you wish to alter the belts from or to the lowest position, place the Priori SPS in
the sleeping position (A).
If you wish to alter the bolts from or to the middle or highest position, place the Prior SPS in the sitting position (A). Loosen the top part of the cover (D4) and thread the belt pads through the cover and the shell (C5).
From the front thread one belt pad through the correct slot in the cover and shell (D6).
Thread this belt pad via the back through the adjacent hole (D7).
Thread the shoulder belts through the adjusted belt pads, the cover and the shell (D8-D9).
Refit the shoulder belts to the belt yoke and check that the red stitching (CK) on the belt ends and the belt yoke are facing the shell (DI0) – if this is not the case your bells are twisted – then close the bell's guard door (DI).
Faster the cover all around, behind the pins (E4). Check that it works!

Maintenance, removing the cover and the belt pads (C-E)

The seat may be cleaned with luke-warm water and a gentle soap. Do not use any abrasive detergents.
- The cover must be washed by hand at a maximum temperature of 30^ . Do not use a dryer (see also washing instructions).
The buckle may be cleaned with warm water.
It is advisable to buy an extra cover when you purchase the Priori SPS enabling the

Priori SPS to be used at all times also when the cover has to be cleaned (or dried).

Loosen the belts and the belt pads, see fig. D1-D5 under the section "adjusting the height of the shoulder belts". Loosen the cover all around and also at the release button/positioning handle (EI).

Pull the belts, buckle longue sections and buckle through the cover.

Then remove the cover by pulling it carefully behind the release mechanism (E2).

After washing attach the belt pads (D6-D9) and place the cover on the shell.

Thread the buckle and buckle sections back through the cover and faster the cover at the release button/positioning handle (E3). Secure the cover on pins (E4).

Close the buckle (C5) and thread the belts through the belt pads, the cover and the shell (D9).

Attach the shoulder bells to the belt yoke and make sure that, the red stitching (pi3) on the belt ends and the belt yoke are facing the shell (C10) – if this is not the case, your belts are twisted – then close the belt guard door (E1).

Fasten the cover all around, behind the pins (E4). Check that it works!

Checklist

For safety's sake read through this checklist before you set off.

• Check that the harness belt system fits properly and tightly around your child and that the shoulder belts are at the correct height.
  Check regularly that the belt in the Priori SPS is not damaged. If it is damaged do not use your product in any
  circumstances and contact your supplier or importer (see address list on the back of the instruction manual).
  Check that you have secured your Priori 5PS properly with the seat belt.

Warranty

Our 24 months warranty reflects our confidence in the high quality of our design, engineering, production and product performance. We confirm that this product was manufactured in accordance with the current European safety requirements and quality standards which are applicable to this product, and that this product is free from defects on materials and workmanship at the time of purchase. Under the conditions mentioned herein, this warranty may be invoked by consumers in the countries where this product has been sold by a subsidiary of the Dorel Group or by an authorized dealer or retailer.

Our 24 months warranty covers all manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship when used in normal conditions and in accordance with our user manual for a period of 24 months from the date of the original retail purchase by the first end-user customer. To request repairs or spare parts under our warranty for defects in materials and workmanship you must present your proof of purchase, made within the 24 months preceding the service request.

Our 24 months warranty does not apply to defects caused by normal wear and tear, damage caused by accidents, abusive use, negligence, fire, liquid contact or other external cause, damage which is the consequence of failing to comply with the user manual, damage caused by use with another product, damage caused by service by anyone who is not authorized by us, or if the product is stolen or if any label or identification number has been removed from the product or has been changed. Examples of normal wear and tear include wheels and fabric worn down by regular use and the natural breakdown of colors and materials due to normal aging of the product.

What to do in case of defects:

Should problems or defects arise, your first point of contact is the authorized dealer or retailer recognized by us. Our 24 months warranty is recognized by them. You must present your proof of purchase, made within the

24 months preceding the service request. It is easiest if you get your service request pre-approved by us. If you submit a valid claim under this warranty, we may request that you return your product to the authorized dealer or retailer recognized by us or that you ship the product to us in accordance with our instructions. We will pay for shipment and for return freight; if all instructions are followed. Damage and/or defects neither covered by our warranty nor by the legal rights of the consumer and/or damage and/or defects with respect to products that are not covered by our warranty can be handled at a reasonable fee.

Rights of the consumer:

A consumer has legal rights pursuant to applicable consumer legislation, which may vary from country to country. The rights of the consumer under applicable national legislation are not affected by this warranty.

Lifetime Warranty:

Under the Terms and conditions published on our website www.maxi-costi.com/lifetreatment we offer a voluntary manufacturer's Lifetime Warranty to first users. To claim this Lifetime Warranty you need to register on our website.

This warranty is provided by Dorel Netherlands. We are registered in The Netherlands under company number 17060920. Our trading address is Korendijk 5, 5704 RD Helmond, The Netherlands, and our postal address is P.O. Box 6071, 5700 ET Helmond, The Netherlands.

The names and address details of other subsidiaries of the Dorel group can be found on the last page of this manual and on our website for the brand concerned.
