How to install batteries in the EM550GPS mouse?

Lift the mouse and open the battery compartment cover by pushing the latch inward. Insert 2 AAA batteries following the + and - symbols. Then turn on the mouse using the power button; the optical lens should light up red.

How to connect the mouse to my computer?

Turn off the computer and mouse. Plug the USB receiver into a USB port. Turn on the computer, then the mouse. Press the CONNECT button on the receiver (a green light flashes), then the CONNECT button on the mouse. The green light flashes quickly then stops. Your mouse is ready.

What to do if the mouse is not detected or does not work?

Check that the mouse is turned on and batteries are new and correctly installed. Ensure the USB port is functional. Reconnect the mouse following the connection procedure. Avoid conflicts with other peripherals and check operating system compatibility.

Why does the cursor jump or freeze?

This may be due to using new muscles required for this ergonomic mouse. You can adjust the cursor speed in your operating system settings. Also ensure you are using the mouse on a suitable surface (not glass, mirror, rough surface, or complex pattern).

How to clean the EM550GPS mouse?

To clean the optical sensor, simply blow on the aperture to remove dust or crumbs, or wipe it with a soft cloth. Never insert any object into the opening.

What batteries to use with the mouse?

Use only AAA alkaline batteries. Follow the polarity (+ and -) indicated in the compartment. Do not mix new and used batteries.

When you use a traditional mouse, you pronate your forearm and wrist and typically press your wrist and carpal tunnel area against the desk. This behavior can lead to repetitive stress injuries, which can result in pain or discomfort in the hand, wrist or arm.

The 3M™ Ergonomic Mouse works as a regular optical mouse—except that your hand grips the handle and rests on the base, and you use your thumb to left and right click. You can scroll in many programs by clicking the 3rd button. It may take up to a week to adjust to using the 3M Ergonomic Mouse.

Slide the batteries into the battery compartment as shown in the illustration on the battery cover and replace cover.

Basic mouse functionality will activate. While moving the mouse, the green light on USB receiver will quickly blink. While the mouse is idle, the green light will not blink.

Your mouse is now ready for use. You can customize your mouse settings through your mouse settings utility included with your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux).

Operate by moving entire mouse around on mousing surface.

Use the thumb button for left and right clicking.

Mouse Not Detected	Computer ports are improperly set up (for example, are disabled).	Check with your computer system dealer or manufacturer if you need help.
	Confli icts among other devices connected.	Resolve any conflict icts among devices connected to your computer.
	Installed on an incompatible operating system.	Compatible operating systems for the 3M Ergonomic Mouse EM550 are listed on page 2.
If lens is not illuminated red:	No power.	Make sure the power switch is ON.
		Use fresh batteries and install them properly.
If green light on receiver does not blink:	USB receiver not recognized.	Make sure USB receiver is attached properly to your computer.
		Reconnect mouse to your computer by following steps in Part 2 above.
Cursor Does Not Move At All	Mouse not detected.	See "Mouse Not Detected" above.
	Optical sensor may be blocked by dust, dirt or crumbs.	Blow or brush the obstruction away with a soft cloth. However, do not insert hard objects through the opening.
	Mouse is on an incompatible surface.	DO NOT use your mouse on a transparent surface like glass or a refi ective surface like a mirror; on a rough or porous surface that is not smooth; or on a surface with complex graphic and color patterns.
Diffi cult To Control Fine Cursor Motion	You are using larger muscle groups to move the mouse.	It can take up to a week to train new muscle groups to mouse and gain fi ne cursor control. Slow down the pointer speed or acceleration in your operating system's mouse utility software.
